Located near you within the Clearwater National Forest, this campground provides a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you're searching for "camping near me" that combines breathtaking scenery with opportunities for outdoor recreation, Kelly Forks Campground is a destination worth exploring.
Kelly Forks Campground is situated along Moose Creek Road in Idaho (zip code 83014, USA). While the precise mileage from major local centers will vary, its location within the Clearwater National Forest signifies a journey into a more remote and pristine environment. The drive to the campground itself is part of the adventure, often involving travel on unpaved roads. It's important to note, as highlighted by visitor reviews, that accessing Kelly Forks Campground typically involves several hours of driving on dirt roads. Therefore, it is advisable to ensure your vehicle is suitable for such conditions and to allow ample travel time.
The environment surrounding Kelly Forks Campground is truly captivating. Imagine yourself enveloped by heavily wooded areas, where the natural canopy provides a sense of privacy and seclusion for each campsite. The loudest sounds you'll likely hear are the soothing melodies of the nearby river and the gentle rustling of leaves as the wind whispers through the trees. This creates an atmosphere of unparalleled peace and tranquility, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. The air is fresh and clean, offering a welcome respite from urban environments. However, it's important to be aware that, as with many forested areas, air quality can be affected by wildfires during certain times of the year.
One of the standout features of Kelly Forks Campground is its proximity to world-class trout fishing. Anglers will be delighted to find themselves near Kelly Creek and the North Fork Clearwater River, both renowned for their exceptional trout populations. Please note that the fishing in this area is typically catch and release only, emphasizing the preservation of this valuable natural resource for future generations. The easy road access to both upstream and downstream sections of Kelly Creek and the North Fork Clearwater provides ample opportunities to explore various fishing spots and keep even avid anglers engaged throughout their stay.
In terms of services and amenities, Kelly Forks Campground embraces a more rustic camping experience. Visitors should be prepared for a lack of modern conveniences such as cell phone coverage and electricity hookups at individual campsites. If you require electricity, you will need to bring your own generator. Similarly, there are no garbage disposal services provided, meaning campers are responsible for packing out all of their trash to maintain the pristine environment of the campground. The campground does offer well-maintained grounds and toilet facilities, with hosts who are diligent in their upkeep while respecting the privacy of campers.
The features of Kelly Forks Campground cater to those who appreciate a more natural and self-sufficient camping style. The heavily wooded sites offer natural privacy, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in the wilderness. The sounds of the river and the wind create a natural soundtrack to your camping experience, promoting relaxation and a connection with the environment. The absence of intrusive noise and artificial lights allows for exceptional stargazing opportunities under clear night skies.
While specific promotional information may not be readily available online at all times, the inherent appeal of Kelly Forks Campground lies in its natural attributes and the experiences it offers. The opportunity to escape to a remote and scenic location, engage in world-class trout fishing, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the wilderness are significant draws in themselves. For local users searching for "camping near me" and seeking a genuine connection with nature, Kelly Forks Campground provides a compelling option.
It's important to consider the type of camping experience you are seeking. If you value modern amenities and constant connectivity, Kelly Forks Campground may not be the ideal choice. However, if you prioritize stunning natural scenery, exceptional fishing opportunities, and a tranquil, off-the-grid experience, then this campground is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. The positive reviews from fellow campers highlight the unique appeal of this location for those who appreciate its natural attributes and are prepared for a more self-sufficient camping style.
To make the most of your trip to Kelly Forks Campground, it is recommended to come prepared with all necessary camping gear, including water, food, cooking equipment, shelter, and appropriate clothing for varying weather conditions. Given the potential for unpaved road travel, ensure your vehicle is in good condition and consider bringing a map or GPS device as cell service is unreliable. Remember to practice Leave No Trace principles by packing out everything you pack in and minimizing your impact on the environment.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" who desire a genuine escape into nature, Kelly Forks Campground offers a unique and rewarding experience. Its stunning scenery, world-class trout fishing, and peaceful atmosphere provide a welcome respite from the everyday. While it requires a willingness to embrace a more rustic camping style and navigate some unpaved roads, the tranquility and natural beauty of Kelly Forks Campground are well worth the journey for those seeking a true wilderness getaway within the Clearwater National Forest.

Kelly Forks Campground Reviews
This is a very subjective review. If you don't mind hours of dirt road driving, no cell coverage, no electricity (unless you bring it), needing to bring out your garbage, but you love fabulous scenery, world class trout fishing (catch and release only), clear skies and fresh air (when the forest is not on fire) you will rate this a 5 as I have. Otherwise, this place is not for you. BTW, with no internet or cell coverage, how did Google know we were there?
Aug 28, 2018 · Hugh ImhofThis campground is one of my favorites anywhere. I usually stay in dispersed sites, pack my own water and Luggable Loo, etc. because I value privacy and quiet (and don't like paying fees). But when go to fish Kelly Creek and North Fork Clearwater, I pay up and stay here. It is heavily wooded, providing natural privacy, the loudest sounds are from the river and wind in the trees. The grounds and toilets are very well maintained - hosts do a good job but are never in your face. Easy road access to Kelly Cr and the N Fk both above and below the confluence - enough fishy water here to keep you busy for a long stay.

Aug 27, 2024 · Jo2 restrooms and water available. Nice spot but the sites are close to each other so a noisy neighbor can be a downer
