Cedars Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" in a picturesque riverside setting, Cedars Campground, located near Long Creek in Clearwater, Idaho, offers a tranquil escape. Situated alongside a river with beautiful views, this small campground provides generously sized campsites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables, perfect for a relaxing outdoor experience with family and friends. While the access road presents some challenges and the amenities are limited, the natural beauty and peaceful ambiance of Cedars Campground make it a noteworthy option for those looking to immerse themselves in the serene landscapes of North Central Idaho.
The environment surrounding Cedars Campground is its primary draw, characterized by its location "right by the river with such a beautiful view." The presence of a river offers opportunities for various water-related activities, such as fishing, wading, or simply enjoying the soothing sounds of flowing water. The scenic beauty of the river and its surroundings likely includes lush vegetation and the natural landscapes typical of the Clearwater region in Idaho. The mention of a "getaway" suggests a setting that provides a sense of escape from everyday life, allowing campers to connect with nature and enjoy the tranquility of the riverside environment. The overall ambiance is described as "beautiful," indicating a visually appealing and peaceful natural setting.
In terms of services, Cedars Campground offers basic amenities to support a comfortable camping experience. Each of the "few generously-sized campsites" (reportedly around six in total) is equipped with a fire pit, providing a designated area for campfires and cooking, and a picnic table, offering a convenient space for meals and gatherings. It is important to note that the campground has a "single platform toilet" and "no running water." A platform toilet typically refers to a vault or pit toilet, which is a non-flush restroom facility. The absence of running water means that campers must bring their own water supply for drinking, cooking, and hygiene. This limitation necessitates proper planning and preparation to ensure a comfortable and safe stay. Despite the limited amenities, the positive reviews suggest that the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere compensate for these basic provisions.
A key feature of Cedars Campground is its riverside location, providing direct access to the water and stunning views. The generously sized campsites offer ample space for setting up tents or parking smaller recreational vehicles. The inclusion of fire pits and picnic tables at each site enhances the camping experience, allowing for enjoyable outdoor cooking and dining. The small number of campsites (around six) contributes to a more intimate and less crowded atmosphere, ideal for those seeking a quieter camping experience. The single platform toilet, while basic, provides a sanitary restroom option. The absence of running water encourages a more self-sufficient approach to camping, which can be appealing to those who prefer a more rustic experience.
While there is no explicit promotional information for Cedars Campground, the positive feedback from visitors serves as a strong recommendation. The description of it as a "very nice getaway" and a "beautiful spot" highlights its appeal for those seeking a tranquil escape. The enjoyment of a "relaxing time camping here for a couple days with our family" underscores its suitability for family outings. The fact that one reviewer would consider the "wash-boardy and dusty ride" worthwhile for the experience suggests that the destination itself is highly rewarding. The emphasis on the beautiful river view is a significant promotional point, enticing those who appreciate waterfront camping.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who value a beautiful riverside location, generously sized campsites, and a peaceful environment, Cedars Campground is a compelling option. The provision of fire pits and picnic tables adds to the convenience of the camping experience. However, potential visitors should be aware of the access road conditions and the limited amenities, particularly the absence of running water. The small number of campsites suggests that securing a spot might be competitive, especially during peak seasons. Campers with smaller RVs or those primarily tent camping will likely find this campground more suitable, given the road conditions within the campground.
The reviews provide valuable insights into the access to Cedars Campground. The road leading to the campground is described as "wash-boardy" and "dusty," which might affect the comfort of the drive. One reviewer advised against bringing a Class A size RV due to rough spots and limited turnaround space within the campground, but found it manageable with a 25ft Class C with a 6” lift pulling a 10ft trailer. The road south to Kelly’s Fork is noted as narrow in spots, potentially making passing difficult. However, the road in from Superior is mentioned as having only a couple of narrow spots. This detailed information about the access roads is crucial for potential visitors to consider based on their vehicle type and comfort level with such conditions.
To obtain more specific information about Cedars Campground, such as the exact number of campsites, potential fees (if any), and any current regulations or advisories, local users can contact the managing entity, likely the Clearwater National Forest Service, at the provided phone numbers: (208) 476-4541 or +1 208-476-4541. Checking the Clearwater National Forest website or contacting a local ranger station might also provide additional details and allow for checking availability, especially given the small size of the campground.
In conclusion, Cedars Campground offers a beautiful and tranquil riverside camping experience near Clearwater, Idaho. Its generously sized campsites with fire pits and picnic tables, coupled with the stunning river views, make it an attractive "camping near me" option for those seeking a peaceful natural getaway. While the access road requires consideration and the amenities are limited to a platform toilet and no running water, the positive reviews and the allure of riverside camping in a scenic location suggest that Cedars Campground is a hidden gem worth the journey for prepared and self-sufficient campers.

Cedars Campground Reviews
A very nice getaway. The road is wash-boardy and it’s a dusty ride. If you don’t mind that, it’s fine. I would not recommend a Class A size RV in the campground as the road within the campground is rough in spots with limited space to turnaround. I had no problem with my 25ft Class C with a 6” lift, pulling a 10ft trailer. The road from Cedars south to Kelly’s Fork is quite narrow in spots, not allowing passing of other vehicles, but otherwise I made it through. The road in from Superior only has a couple of narrow spots.
Aug 01, 2023 · Scott GordonBeautiful spot! Right by the river with such a beautiful view. There's a few generously-sized campsites (I think 6 total) with fire pits and picnic tables. We had a such a relaxing time camping here for a couple days with our family. FYI: there's a single platform toilet, but no running water at this campground.
