Area Three Campground Introduce
For local residents in and around Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, who are searching within the "camping near me" category for a basic and affordable outdoor experience, Area Three Campground presents a potential option. Located in Pleasant Dale, NE 68423, USA, this campground appears to offer primitive campsites for those seeking a more rustic camping adventure. While direct information about the campground's environment, services, and features is limited, insights can be gleaned from the provided address and the candid reviews from individuals who have either stayed at or near the location. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview based on the available information, highlighting both the potential benefits and drawbacks to help them make an informed decision.
When local users look for "camping near me," they often have varying preferences, ranging from full-service RV parks to more secluded and primitive tent sites. Area Three Campground seems to cater to the latter, offering a no-frills camping experience. The review mentioning "$15/night as of July 2024" for "primitive sites" indicates that this campground is likely a budget-friendly option for those comfortable with basic amenities. However, the reviews also bring to light certain environmental and social factors that potential local campers should be aware of.
Environment: A Natural Setting with Potential Drawbacks
The address in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, suggests that Area Three Campground is situated in a rural environment typical of this part of the state. This could imply a setting characterized by open fields, perhaps some wooded areas, and the natural sounds of the countryside. Primitive campsites often emphasize immersion in nature with minimal development. However, the reviews provide some specific environmental considerations:
- Primitive Sites: The explicit mention of "primitive sites" suggests that campers should expect minimal amenities. This typically means no water or electrical hookups at the individual sites and potentially limited or no restroom facilities. Campers opting for primitive sites should be fully self-sufficient.
- Tick Presence: A significant concern raised in one of the reviews is the prevalence of ticks. The reviewer noted finding ticks on their RV, in the grass, and on their pet. This indicates that campers visiting Area Three Campground should take thorough precautions against ticks, including using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing, and checking themselves and their pets frequently.
- Potential for Noise and Disruptions: One review described a negative experience with noisy and disrespectful fellow campers, including barking dogs and a trashed campsite. While this is not indicative of the campground itself, it highlights the potential for variability in the behavior of other campers, which can impact the overall environment and peacefulness.
Local users considering Area Three Campground should be prepared for a natural environment that may include insects like ticks and the possibility of encountering inconsiderate fellow campers. While the inherent natural setting of Pleasant Dale might be appealing, these factors should be weighed carefully.
Services and Amenities: Expecting the Basics
Given the description of "primitive sites" and the lack of information suggesting otherwise, the services and amenities at Area Three Campground are likely to be minimal. Local users should anticipate:
- Basic Campsites: These would likely be designated areas for tents or perhaps parking for smaller RVs that do not require hookups. The sites may include a fire pit and possibly a picnic table, as suggested by the mention of a fire pit in the review.
- Limited or No Hookups: Primitive sites typically do not offer water, electricity, or sewer hookups. RV campers should be prepared to be fully self-contained.
- Potentially Limited Facilities: Restroom and shower facilities might be rudimentary or non-existent at a truly primitive campground. Campers should inquire about the availability of these basic necessities.
- Waste Disposal: There should be some provision for trash disposal, although the review mentioning a fire pit full of garbage suggests that not all campers utilize these properly.
- Payment System: The review indicates a $15/night fee as of July 2024, suggesting a self-pay system or an on-site collection method. Local users should inquire about the current fees and payment procedures.
Local users accustomed to campgrounds with more developed amenities should be aware that Area Three Campground likely offers a more basic level of service. It is essential to be prepared with all necessary supplies and to inquire about the availability of even basic facilities like restrooms and water.
Features: Simplicity and Affordability
The primary features of Area Three Campground appear to be its simplicity and affordability. For local users seeking a budget-friendly option for a basic camping experience, this could be appealing. Other potential features, based on its location and the reviews, might include:
- Affordable Price: At $15 per night (as of July 2024), it offers a significantly cheaper alternative to more developed campgrounds or private RV parks.
- Proximity to Pleasant Dale: For local residents of Pleasant Dale, the campground offers a convenient option for a quick weekend getaway or an overnight camping trip without extensive travel.
- Natural Setting: Despite the tick issue, the rural location in Nebraska likely provides a natural environment for those who enjoy being outdoors.
- Potential for Quiet: One review mentioned that the campground was quiet during their stay, suggesting that under normal circumstances, it could offer a peaceful retreat.
- Space for Different Camping Styles: The mention of primitive sites suggests it can accommodate both tent campers and potentially smaller, self-contained RVs.
Local users who prioritize cost-effectiveness and a basic camping experience might find these features attractive. However, they should also be prepared for the potential downsides highlighted in the reviews.
Promotional Information: An Affordable Local Primitive Camping Option
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category and prioritizing a low-cost, no-frills camping experience, Area Three Campground in Pleasant Dale can be presented as an affordable option for primitive camping. Key promotional aspects, while acknowledging the limitations and potential issues raised in the reviews, could include:
- Budget-Friendly: Highlight the low nightly rate ($15 as of July 2024) as a significant advantage for cost-conscious campers.
- Local Convenience: Emphasize its location in Pleasant Dale, making it easily accessible for local residents seeking a quick outdoor escape.
- Back-to-Basics Camping: Appeal to those who prefer a more rustic and self-sufficient camping experience without the need for extensive amenities.
- Access to Nature: Promote the natural setting of rural Nebraska, offering a chance to connect with the outdoors.
However, it is crucial to also include a disclaimer based on the reviews: "Please be aware that recent reviews have noted a significant presence of ticks in the area. Campers should take appropriate precautions. Additionally, one review mentioned issues with noisy and disrespectful fellow campers and littering, which, while not typical of the campground itself, highlights the importance of responsible camping practices. It is recommended to bring all necessary supplies for primitive camping and to be prepared for a basic level of amenities."
Local users are encouraged to visit the location or inquire locally for the most up-to-date information on fees, facilities, and current conditions. While Area Three Campground offers an affordable local option for primitive camping, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with ticks and the possibility of encountering inconsiderate fellow campers to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Area Three Campground Reviews
Didn't stay here but stayed across the street. Primitive sites. $15/night as of July 2024.
Jul 14, 2024 · Derek BranstromGreat place. It was quiet when we were there other than the rednecks staying at a campsite 3 places from us that decided to bring their 4 barking dogs and left their site completely trashed. The firepit was full of garbage left behind. So disrespectful and disgusting. They should have been banned from any future camping at the NE state parks. Ticks were everywhere. I found them in our 5th wheel, every time I walking in the grass, on our Lab. Other than a couple minor issues, it wasn't bad.
Jul 29, 2024 · Rande HendersonI love camping either alone or with a friend or two. This particular camping trip was about 2&1/2 months long. There was no better medicine and peaceful times I guess I'm saying it was just what the doctor ordered in my life at that time and I would be happy to do it every year and come to think of it I bought a new tent with 2 separate rooms and a screened in front porch to be out of the rain and still have a great time. Pawnee is somewhere to atleast visit for the day when it warms up, but it's always a nice drive around the lake and all the best camping and fishing areas to remember when it's season again. Don't forget about the park sticker, it's the best to get the yearly one ,you manage to spend less than the daily rate. Just saying... that's what keeps the recreation areas that we enjoy safe ,clean and not a lake sized underage drunken party that lasts until dawn....every day, night and keeps our memories happy and not remembering that horrible accident involving booze, campfire, watercraft and I am pretty sure you can fill in the rest. Be responsible and follow the rules posted as soon as you enter the park and your memories will be awesome as you tell them to the younger generation while y'all are camping....
