Based on recent customer feedback, Arrowhead Lake Camp Ground & Recreational Center is described as a "very nice campground" with several appealing features. A significant highlight is the presence of a "beautiful and peaceful" lake, which enhances the overall environment and provides opportunities for leisurely enjoyment. The campground also boasts a variety of wildlife, including ducks, geese, and deer, offering campers a chance to observe and listen to nature's inhabitants, adding a touch of serenity to the camping experience.
The campsites at Arrowhead Lake Campground are noted for being "roomy," providing ample space for campers to set up and enjoy their surroundings. Each site is equipped with essential amenities, including a picnic table and a fire ring, enhancing the convenience and enjoyment of outdoor living. These features allow for comfortable outdoor dining and the traditional camping experience of gathering around a fire.
Maintaining cleanliness is evidently a priority at Arrowhead Lake Campground, as the office and bathrooms are described as "very clean." This is an important aspect for camper comfort and hygiene, contributing to a more pleasant and worry-free stay for those utilizing the "camping near me" platform.
One reviewer, Peggy, found the prices to be "extremely reasonable" and expressed a strong desire to return, indicating a positive overall experience and satisfaction with the value offered. This suggests that Arrowhead Lake Campground aims to provide an affordable option for local campers seeking a nearby retreat.
The campground offers essential hookups for RV campers, including water and electric hookups, as well as a dump station for waste disposal. These amenities are crucial for RV travelers seeking a comfortable and convenient stay while exploring "camping near me" options in the Johnston City area.
However, another reviewer who stayed for one night mentioned that the cost of $40 per night for only water and electricity felt "a bit high." This perspective suggests that while some may find the pricing reasonable, others might consider it slightly expensive for the level of amenities provided. It's important for potential campers to weigh their individual needs and budget when considering this campground.
This same reviewer also noted that "it looks like most people live there," which could imply a more long-term resident community within the campground. While this didn't detract significantly from their overnight stay, it's a factor that some campers might consider in terms of the overall atmosphere and transient nature of the campground.
A specific campsite (L108) was noted to have a portable toilet ("portapot") located at its edge, which the reviewer found disappointing. The placement of such facilities can impact the aesthetics and convenience of a campsite. It would be advisable for potential campers to inquire about the layout and placement of amenities relative to their chosen site when making a reservation.
Despite this, the reviewer also highlighted positive aspects, including a walk path around the pond and the opportunity to feed the ducks and geese. These features contribute to the recreational appeal of the campground and offer engaging activities for visitors of all ages.
In summary, Arrowhead Lake Camp Ground & Recreational Center offers a picturesque setting with a beautiful lake and wildlife, spacious campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, and clean facilities. It provides water and electric hookups and a dump station for RVs. While opinions on pricing may vary, and the presence of long-term residents and the placement of portable toilets on some sites are factors to consider, the campground generally receives positive feedback for its cleanliness, natural beauty, and amenities. For local users searching for "camping near me" in Johnston City, IL, Arrowhead Lake Campground presents a welcoming option for a relaxing outdoor experience. It is recommended to contact them directly for detailed information on pricing, site availability, and specific amenities to ensure it meets your individual camping needs.

Sep 28, 2024 · Peggy KarnesWe stayed one night, and it was nice and clean. $40 per night for only water and electricity is a bit high, and it looks like most people live there, but it was nice for an overnight stay. I was disappointed that there was a portapot located at the edge of our spot (L108). Walk path around the pond and ducks and geese to feed.
Oct 16, 2024 · Amanda HortonNice place took our Grandson fishing their is a walk way around the lake, nice.
Mar 29, 2025 · Cindy NeilTook my kids to fish there. It's a beautiful place. Would be better if other visitors would stop putting trash in the water. We spent so much time having to undo our lines from fishing line that was left behind. Clean up after yourselves folks.
Jul 29, 2024 · Tabitha SmithWay too cramped and narrow to get to. Drove there to see if we wanted to go there. BIG NOPE.
