Ausable River Camping, site 070D Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience along the scenic Ausable River in Michigan, Ausable River Camping, site 070D, located in Oscoda Twp, MI 48750, USA, offers a potentially appealing option. Situated near the Ausable River, a renowned waterway for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities, this specific campsite appears to provide a blend of privacy and river access. However, the available customer reviews also highlight some important considerations regarding accessibility and the terrain of the site.
The environment surrounding Ausable River Camping, site 070D, is undoubtedly shaped by its proximity to the Ausable River. This generally implies a setting of natural beauty, with the sounds of flowing water and the potential for scenic views of the river and its banks. The reviews mention both a "beautiful site" and a "great site to stretch out," suggesting that the physical campsite itself offers a pleasant and spacious environment. The presence of the river indicates potential opportunities for activities such as fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the riverside scenery. The fact that the site is described as having "tons of privacy" suggests a more secluded camping experience compared to campgrounds with closely spaced sites. However, one review also notes a "steep trail to water," indicating that while the river is accessible, the terrain leading to it may be challenging, particularly for those with mobility issues or when carrying equipment.
In terms of services, the limited information available in the reviews focuses primarily on the characteristics of the campsite itself and the surrounding environment, rather than on campground-wide amenities. The mention of being able to book a 24' RV suggests that the site is intended to accommodate recreational vehicles of this size. However, a significant concern is raised about the "narrow road in" which "almost took out our awning," indicating a potential limitation for larger RVs and the need for careful maneuvering. The review also points out the lack of a recommendation or road widening for larger vehicles. Beyond this, the reviews do not provide information about standard campground services such as restrooms, water access, fire pits, or picnic tables at the specific site or within the general area. The reference to "Everyone at Lumberman's monument made the 4th of July an awesome weekend!" might suggest a nearby attraction or event that enhanced the overall experience but doesn't directly speak to the services at the campsite itself.
The features of Ausable River Camping, site 070D, as gleaned from the reviews, include its spaciousness ("great site to stretch out"), its privacy ("tons of privacy"), and its access to the Ausable River ("beautiful site but steep trail to water"). The ability to accommodate a 24' RV is another feature, although this is accompanied by a warning about the narrow access road. The steep trail to the water is a notable physical feature of the site that could be both a benefit (providing a more secluded river access point) and a drawback (challenging to navigate). The lack of mention of typical campsite features like fire pits or picnic tables might imply that these are either standard and not noteworthy, or potentially absent, requiring campers to be self-sufficient in these areas. The beauty of the site itself is a key feature, suggesting a visually appealing location along the river.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available for Ausable River Camping, site 070D. The reviews offer a balanced perspective, highlighting both the positive aspects (spaciousness, privacy, beauty) and the challenges (narrow road for larger RVs, steep trail to water). The suggestion to either restrict larger RVs or widen the road could be seen as a recommendation for improvement rather than a promotion. The positive experience at Lumberman's monument during a holiday weekend might indirectly suggest that the location offers access to local attractions or events, but it doesn't constitute a promotion specific to the campsite. For local users searching for "camping near me," the information provided suggests a site with natural appeal and privacy, but with potential logistical challenges depending on the type of camping setup and physical abilities.
For local users considering Ausable River Camping, site 070D, it is crucial to take the feedback about the narrow access road seriously, especially if planning to bring an RV larger than a camper van. Contacting the booking platform or the campground management (if a contact number is available through other means) to inquire about the road conditions and any restrictions on vehicle size would be prudent. Similarly, understanding the nature of the "steep trail to water" is important for planning activities and ensuring accessibility for all members of the camping party. The lack of information about other amenities at the site or in the vicinity necessitates further investigation if these are important for the camping experience.
The privacy and spaciousness of the site are significant advantages for those seeking a more secluded and less crowded camping experience. The beauty of the location along the Ausable River is also a major draw, offering opportunities for enjoying the natural surroundings. However, the potential difficulties with access and the terrain leading to the water need to be carefully considered. Depending on the type of "camping near me" experience desired, site 070D could be ideal for those with smaller vehicles who prioritize privacy and a scenic, albeit potentially challenging, river access.
In conclusion, Ausable River Camping, site 070D, offers a "camping near me" option with a beautiful and private setting along the Ausable River in Oscoda Twp, Michigan. Its spaciousness is a notable feature, and it can accommodate RVs up to 24 feet. However, potential campers should be aware of a narrow access road that may pose challenges for larger vehicles and a steep trail leading to the water. The reviews do not provide details about other standard camping amenities, so it is advisable to seek additional information before booking. For those with suitable vehicles who prioritize privacy and a riverside location, despite the terrain, site 070D could be a worthwhile consideration.

Site 70 allowed me to book a 24' RV. the road in was too narrow and almost took out our awning. They should either change and not allow anything bigger than a camper van or, widen the road. I hope we can get out of here. Otherwise, beautiful site but steep trail to water.
