Bagley Nature Area Campground Introduce
For local users in Duluth, Minnesota, searching for "camping near me," Bagley Nature Area Campground, located at 1737 Bayview Ave, Duluth, MN 55811, USA, presents a basic tent camping option within a natural environment. You can contact them at (218) 726-6134 or +1 218-726-6134 for any inquiries. Based on the available reviews, this campground offers a unique experience primarily geared towards tent campers seeking a natural setting with essential amenities, though it's important to be aware of potential noise factors due to its proximity to campus buildings.
The environment of Bagley Nature Area Campground is described as a "lovely place for nature strolling" with "mature trees" and "lower underbrush," making it "perfect for walking the dog." This suggests a wooded area conducive to leisurely walks and enjoying the outdoors. The presence of both main footpaths for easier navigation and less-traveled paths for those seeking more exertion indicates a varied terrain suitable for different levels of activity. For local dog owners looking for a "camping near me" option where they can bring their pets, the description of the environment as ideal for dog walking is a significant positive aspect.
However, another reviewer describes the location as "kinda a weird spot" for pitching a tent, primarily due to the proximity to nearby campus buildings. This results in ambient light and noise from "car traffic" and "college student hijinks (fireworks)" that could potentially disrupt sleep. This is a crucial consideration for those seeking a quiet and secluded camping experience. While the natural surroundings within the area itself may be appealing, the external environment influenced by the nearby campus appears to introduce elements that might detract from a traditional peaceful camping atmosphere.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide a limited but specific overview. Basic amenities include a "water pump" and a "portapotty," which were reported to be "fine." This indicates that while essential sanitation and water access are provided, more comprehensive facilities like flush toilets or shower houses are likely not available. The campsite itself is described as "essentially a mowed clearing with a couple picnic tables and a fire ring." This suggests a very basic setup, prioritizing a cleared space for tents and the provision of fundamental camping necessities like a table for meals and a fire ring for campfires (where permitted and following local regulations). The mention of "overnight parking in the closest gravel lot was fine" implies that parking is available nearby, though not necessarily directly at each individual tent site.
Considering the limited amenities and the reported noise levels, Bagley Nature Area Campground seems best suited for tent campers who prioritize access to a natural area for activities like walking and are comfortable with a more rudimentary camping setup. It might serve as a convenient overnight option for those needing a place to pitch a tent in Duluth, especially given the positive aspects of the nature trails and dog-friendly environment. However, campers seeking a more traditional campground experience with full facilities and a quieter setting might need to consider other options for "camping near me."
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in camping at Bagley Nature Area Campground should contact the provided phone numbers to inquire about any specific regulations, fees (if applicable), availability of sites, rules regarding campfires, and any other pertinent information. It would also be wise to ask about the typical noise levels at different times of the year and any specific guidelines related to pets. Understanding these details will help potential campers make an informed decision based on their preferences and expectations.
In summary, Bagley Nature Area Campground offers a natural environment in Duluth with mature trees and walking trails, making it suitable for nature strolls and dog walking. It provides basic tent camping amenities, including a water pump, portapotty, picnic tables, and fire rings, situated in a mowed clearing. However, potential campers should be aware of potential noise and light pollution from the nearby campus buildings. This campground appears to be a functional option for tent campers seeking a natural area with basic facilities, but it may not offer the secluded and amenity-rich experience of a more traditional campground. Local users prioritizing nature access and basic camping might find it adequate, while those seeking more comprehensive amenities and a quieter environment should explore other "camping near me" options in the Duluth area.

Bagley Nature Area Campground Reviews
Lovely place for nature strolling. Keep to the main foot path for ease or take the less traveled for more effort. Mature trees lower underbrush, perfect for walking the dog.
Jun 18, 2024 · Kathryn MelenichKinda a weird spot, but it’ll do in a pinch if you need somewhere to pitch a tent. Lights from nearby campus buildings, car traffic, and college student hijinks (fireworks) will keep you up.Water pump and portapotty were fine. It’s essentially a mowed clearing with a couple picnic tables and a fire ring. Overnight parking in the closest gravel lot was fine.
Sep 14, 2024 · Evan HarmsGood for a stop on the SHT. No water when I was there in October, but there is a hydrant that maybe provides water in warmer months.Big open grassy area that is mowed and maintained well. There's a good firepit. It's right on the UMD campus in Duluth and there are many people around and much vehicle noise
Oct 17, 2019 · Eric F HeinsThe BNA Campground has 6 walk-in, tent only rustic sites. There is Park and walk-in access available from May 24 to August 25 (2019) and backpack through access available any time. 4 of the sites can be reserved through UMD Sports and Rec and two sites are non-reservable. The campground offers access to the Bagley park and trails and the Superior Hiking Trail. There is running water, a single campfire ring, and portable toilet.
Jun 26, 2019 · Jim BjorkDefinetly not what we expected. No privacy in campsites, only 1 firepit. Very nice trails to hike. No grounds manager type person to get ahold of, had a tree fall within a few ft of our tent
