The Silos Marina & Campground Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking "camping near me" with waterfront access and scenic views in Montana, The Silos Marina & Campground, located at 82 Silos Rd, Townsend, MT 59644, USA, offers a unique setting. Situated by a lake and potentially near a river, this campground provides opportunities for water-related activities and the enjoyment of natural landscapes. Reviews from visitors highlight both the beauty of the location and some important considerations for potential campers.
The environment of The Silos Marina & Campground is characterized by its proximity to water and the surrounding natural beauty. One reviewer specifically mentioned the "moon, river, and mountains" as being beautiful, indicating a picturesque setting with diverse scenic elements. The campground offers sites right on the lake, providing direct access to the water and likely stunning waterfront views. The presence of a marina suggests that the lake is a central feature, potentially offering opportunities for boating and other water activities. The overall environment appears to be one of natural beauty, with the combination of water features and mountain backdrops creating an appealing setting for outdoor enthusiasts.
The services and amenities at The Silos Marina & Campground appear to be somewhat basic, based on the limited information in the reviews. One reviewer noted a clean outhouse, which suggests that this is the type of restroom facility available, at least in some areas of the campground. The same reviewer also mentioned a wash station that was turned off, indicating that the availability of running water at such stations might be seasonal or depend on the time of year. The fact that the campground has a marina implies the availability of services related to boating, such as boat launching, docking, and possibly fuel or supplies, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The friendly service provided by the "lady at the office" is also noted, suggesting a positive initial interaction with the campground staff.
A key feature of The Silos Marina & Campground is its lakeside location, offering the potential for direct water access and enjoyment. The beautiful views of the moon, river, and mountains are also a significant draw, promising a scenic camping experience. The presence of a marina suggests that it caters to boaters and those interested in water-based activities on the lake. The availability of at least clean outhouse facilities is a basic necessity provided. However, a critical point raised in one of the reviews is the potential presence of blue-green algae in the lake, which is described as deadly to dogs. This is a significant safety concern for pet owners and a factor that all potential visitors should be aware of and check before planning a stay, especially if traveling with animals.
While no specific promotional information is explicitly provided, the inherent appeal of The Silos Marina & Campground lies in its beautiful lakeside setting and the potential for water-related activities facilitated by the marina. The positive mention of the scenic views (moon, river, and mountains) serves as an attraction for those seeking a visually appealing camping location. However, the negative experience shared by a visitor regarding the presence of blue-green algae and the subsequent customer service interaction acts as a cautionary note. This highlights the importance of being aware of potential environmental conditions and the campground's policies regarding cancellations due to safety concerns.
For local users searching for "camping near me" with lake access, The Silos Marina & Campground offers a location with the potential for beautiful scenery and water activities. The marina aspect suggests it might be particularly appealing to boat owners or those interested in boating on the lake. However, the review concerning blue-green algae is a serious consideration, especially for campers with pets. It would be prudent for prospective visitors to inquire about the current water quality conditions before making a reservation. The seasonal nature of some amenities, such as wash stations, might also be a factor to consider depending on the time of year of the planned visit. While the friendly service at the office is a positive aspect, the reported issue with the cancellation fee due to a safety concern raises questions about the overall customer service policies.
To inquire about The Silos Marina & Campground, local users can contact them at (406) 980-0266 or +1 406-980-0266. It is strongly recommended to call ahead to check on the current conditions of the lake, particularly regarding the presence of blue-green algae, especially if you plan to bring pets or engage in water activities. You should also inquire about the availability of amenities such as wash stations, restroom facilities beyond outhouses (if any), and any services offered by the marina. Clarifying the campground's policies on cancellations, especially in situations involving safety concerns, would also be advisable before making a reservation. While the location offers the allure of lakeside camping and scenic views, it is essential to gather comprehensive and up-to-date information to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at The Silos Marina & Campground.

The Silos Marina & Campground Reviews
Came here late September after season so they were no longer collecting the $10 camping fee. The moon, river, and mountains were beautiful! The outhouse was clean and of course the wash station was turned off.
Sep 24, 2018 · Leah MorrisStopped without a reservation and were happy to get a spot as we had been on the road and our dog wanted to swim. Got a site right on the lake. The lady at the office was super friendly. When we got to the site it was clear there was blue green algae which is deadly to dogs. Went back to the office as we could not risk that with our dog and the lady in the office called the owner- who insisted on charging us a cancellation fee of 10 dollars. Half the price. We had literally been there less than 20 minutes and o myLeft due to safety of our dog. Really crappy customer service on behalf of the owner. Do better.
Aug 27, 2024 · Dewayne PetersTwo stars are for the view and price-point for amenities. Facilities were clean but the grass was really tall and there was millions (not kidding) of mosquitoes... we were still swatting almost 15 hours later in our vehicle! We couldnt even sit outside and enjoy a fire with fear of getting carried away, too bad, it could have been a great place to camp!
May 30, 2018 · Daubee Designs PhotographyMillions of mosquitoes was not able to stay the full night because of how many mosquitoes there were. Hundreds went into our car while we were setting up camp.Lake looked beautiful! Great wildlife too!
Sep 09, 2024 · Ruby HIt’s a beautiful campground but needs more trees! The Campspot i reserved online was somehow double booked (camp host dont put a reserved sign on the site). While I was there the camp hosts check in with you everyday unbeknownst to me why! They need better camp host that actually do their job! They are very strict about your dog being on a leash here.
