Goose Bay Marina & Campground

300 Goose Bay Ln, Townsend, MT 59644, USA

4.0
Clean campground and site #50 was level. Sewer hookup is threaded (not cross threaded) and water pressure was roughly 55 p.s.i. with 3050110 outlets. The restrooms were clean and the gravel paths throughout the park smooth. The ladies in the store were friendly, courteous and engaging. The store/office is not a Walmart so keep the expectations to what you’d find at an average campsite mercantile. There’s not much for shade and the trash receptacles are 33 gallon size cans, no dumpsters visible. There’s an RV dump island with flush for $10 a visit if you’re camping nearby and don’t want hookups. The standard rate for full service is roughly $38 per night. Although this location falls under the Bureau of Reclamation, the Interagency Annual Pass (America the Beautiful pass) is not honored here.We comfortably fit a 40’ Class A with toad and nothing was tight, leaning or concerning with the road in or around the park.I’d give it 5 stars but my fire pit wasn’t cleaned from the previous guest. Not a big fan lighting whatever’s in a pit that I have no clue off.Be warned, if you inspect your site for fit and function prior to checking in, you’ll get a slight browbeating. Not a big deal but the site host didn’t seem to understand folks pulling toads often want to verify they can navigate/fit rather than blindly nodding everything’s good sight unseen. - Vincent Sheridan

Goose Bay Marina & Campground offers a well-regarded option for RVers and campers seeking a clean, well-maintained, and conveniently located site with access to the beautiful lake. Situated at 300 Goose Bay Ln, Townsend, MT 59644, Goose Bay Marina & Campground provides a range of amenities and a picturesque setting that has garnered positive feedback from numerous visitors. You can reach them at (406) 266-3065 or their mobile number +1 406-266-3065 to inquire about availability and make reservations.

The environment at Goose Bay Marina & Campground is notably clean and well-kept, as highlighted by multiple reviewers. The presence of smooth gravel paths throughout the park contributes to a pleasant and easily navigable environment for walking. The landscaping is described as nice, suggesting an effort to create an aesthetically pleasing space for guests. Being located directly on the lake, the campground offers stunning water views and opportunities for lakeside activities. Wildlife is abundant in the area, and some lucky campers have even had the chance to observe local fauna, such as an osprey nest located near one of the sites, adding a unique touch of nature to the camping experience. However, it's worth noting that shade can be limited at some campsites.

In terms of services and features, Goose Bay Marina & Campground appears to be well-equipped for RV travelers. Site #50, as mentioned by one reviewer, was level, a crucial aspect for comfortable RV parking and operation of onboard systems. The campground offers full-service hookups at its standard rate of roughly $38 per night. These hookups include sewer connections with threaded fittings, water pressure reported at approximately 55 p.s.i., and 30/50/110 electrical outlets, catering to a variety of RV power needs. For those camping without full hookups or nearby, there is an RV dump island available for a fee of $10 per visit, which includes a flush facility.

The restrooms at Goose Bay Marina & Campground are consistently described as clean, a significant factor in ensuring a comfortable camping experience. The campground also features a store/office where visitors can find essential supplies. While one reviewer noted that it's not a large retail outlet like Walmart, the store is described as well-stocked for an average campsite mercantile, and the staff are consistently praised for being friendly, courteous, and engaging. Campers can also take advantage of a free water fill station, a thoughtful amenity for those needing to replenish their water tanks.

Navigating the campground, even with a large vehicle, seems to be hassle-free. One reviewer comfortably fit a 40’ Class A RV with a tow vehicle ("toad") and reported no issues with tight turns or concerning road conditions within the park. This ease of access is a significant advantage for RVers, particularly those with larger rigs, making parking and maneuvering straightforward.

While the overall experience at Goose Bay Marina & Campground is highly positive, some minor points are worth considering. One guest noted that their fire pit had not been cleaned by the previous occupant, which was a slight inconvenience. Additionally, there was a comment about a potential "browbeating" for inspecting a site for fit and function before the official check-in, suggesting a possible preference for guests to accept their assigned site without prior inspection. Another related observation was that the site host didn't seem to fully understand the need for those pulling tow vehicles to assess site navigability before committing. These points, while not major issues for most, are worth being aware of.

The trash receptacles at the campground are reported as 33-gallon size cans, with no dumpsters visibly apparent. This might be a consideration for campers with a significant amount of waste, although for typical camping stays, individual cans at each site or conveniently located throughout the park usually suffice.

It is important to note that despite its location falling under the Bureau of Reclamation, Goose Bay Marina & Campground does not honor the Interagency Annual Pass (America the Beautiful pass). This is a crucial piece of information for pass holders to be aware of when budgeting for their stay.

In summary, Goose Bay Marina & Campground offers a compelling option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Townsend, Montana region. Its clean facilities, level sites with full hookups, easy navigation for large RVs, friendly staff, and beautiful lakeside location make it a highly recommended destination. The well-stocked store and the availability of an RV dump station further enhance its appeal. While there are minor points to be aware of, such as limited shade and the policy on pre-check-in site inspection, the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests a very well-executed campground that provides a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience on the lake.
