Hellgate Group Campground Introduce
For local users in Helena, Montana, and the surrounding areas searching for "camping near me," Hellgate Group Campground, located on Hellgate Canyon Rd, Helena, MT 59602, USA, offers a potentially lovely outdoor experience. While the name suggests it might primarily cater to group camping, individual spots are also available, as indicated by the customer review mentioning "Spot three." You can reach the campground at (406) 475-3921 or their mobile number +1 406-475-3921 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on the available customer reviews, Hellgate Group Campground boasts a pleasant environment that campers have found enjoyable. One reviewer specifically highlighted "Spot three" as being "nice," noting its advantageous shading in the morning and evening while being open to the sun during midday. This suggests that the campground offers a variety of site characteristics, allowing campers to choose based on their preference for sun or shade at different times of the day. The reviewer also mentioned that Spot three is conveniently located near one of the "potties" (likely referring to portable toilets or outhouses) and is situated close to the campground host, which could be beneficial for any questions or assistance needed.
The environment of Hellgate Group Campground appears to be one where wildlife encounters are possible. The reviewer mentioned being "greeted by some of the wildlife" and specifically visited by a chipmunk in the morning. This suggests a natural setting where local fauna are present, which can enhance the camping experience for those who enjoy observing animals in their natural habitat. However, this also comes with a cautionary note: "BEWARE mosquitoes will eat you alive so bring lots of deet and citronella." This is a crucial piece of information for prospective campers, indicating that mosquitoes are prevalent and effective insect repellent is essential for a comfortable stay, particularly during warmer months.
Another reviewer described Hellgate Group Campground as "another great campground" and expressed a wish to have stayed longer, indicating a positive overall experience. They also noted a "slight wind" on the day of their visit, suggesting that weather conditions can vary, but overall, their stay was "excellent." This brief but positive feedback reinforces the idea that Hellgate Group Campground is a worthwhile option for camping in the Helena area.
Given that the campground is named "Hellgate Group Campground," it is reasonable to infer that it is equipped to handle larger groups. This might include having designated group camping areas that can accommodate more tents or vehicles, as well as potentially having communal facilities suitable for groups. However, the positive mention of an individual spot ("Spot three") indicates that smaller parties or even solo campers can also find suitable accommodations. The presence of a campground host further suggests a level of organization and support for campers.
While the reviews mention "potties," there is no detailed information about the restroom facilities available. Campgrounds can range from having basic portable toilets to more permanent structures with flushing toilets and even showers. Prospective campers might want to inquire about the specific facilities available when making a reservation. Similarly, information about other services such as water sources, fire pits, picnic tables, or trash disposal is not provided in the reviews.
The features of Hellgate Group Campground, based on the limited information, seem to include shaded campsites, proximity to basic facilities (at least for some spots), and a natural environment conducive to wildlife viewing. The potential for group camping is also a key feature implied by the name. The presence of a campground host suggests on-site management and assistance for campers. However, more detailed information about specific amenities would be beneficial for those planning a trip.
Promotional information is entirely absent in the provided data. There are no mentions of discounts, special rates for group bookings, seasonal offers, or any other promotional activities. Local users interested in learning about pricing, availability, and any potential promotions should contact Hellgate Group Campground directly via the provided phone numbers. They may also be able to inquire about specific site details, available amenities, and any regulations or recommendations for campers, such as the best times to visit to avoid peak mosquito activity or any specific gear that is recommended.
In conclusion, Hellgate Group Campground near Helena, Montana, appears to be a lovely campground that offers a natural camping experience with the potential for wildlife encounters. The availability of shaded spots and the presence of a campground host are noted as positive aspects. However, prospective campers must be prepared for mosquitoes, especially during certain times of the year. While the name suggests a focus on group camping, individual spots are also available and appreciated by visitors. For local users searching for "camping near me" and looking for a campground with natural beauty and a peaceful environment, Hellgate Group Campground is worth considering. Direct contact is recommended to obtain detailed information about amenities, group booking options, and any current promotions.

Hellgate Group Campground Reviews
Lovely campground. Spot three is nice. Right by one of the potties and shaded in the morning and evening but not mid day. Semi private spot but right by the campground host. I was greeted by some of the wildlife and visited by a chipmunk in the morning. BEWARE mosquitoes will eat you alive so bring lots of deet and citronella.
Jul 22, 2022 · Reagan StewartAnother great campground that we wish we had more time to stay. Slight wind that day, but overall an excellent stay.
Nov 28, 2017 · Spencer WaxIt's a busy campground but one of the most beautiful places! Great fishing and swimming
Jul 27, 2024 · Jim. CarveyOne of my favorite places to camp. Fish and boat.
Sep 02, 2019 · AshleyThe campsite is super clean and the hosts were friendly but we got a group site the says on the website that it's for 50 people but when we got there the host told us that we are only allowed 5 sleeping units. I'm sorry but 50 people don't go into 5 sleeping units, and it doesn't say anything about that online. Either they need to update the website or they need to change that policy.
