Bearcat Getaway Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Annapolis, Missouri area? Bearcat Getaway, located at 8933 Co Rd 364, Annapolis, MO 63620, USA, offers a camping experience with river access and some unique features. You can reach them at (573) 637-2264 or their mobile number, +1 573-637-2264, for inquiries. Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Bearcat Getaway appear to be mixed, with some highlighting positive aspects and others detailing significant issues.
One reviewer had a positive experience, noting that "the staff and people were very friendly." They also mentioned a stage for concerts located near the front of the campgrounds, which they found ideal for accessibility regardless of campsite location within Bearcat. This suggests that Bearcat Getaway occasionally hosts live music events, which could be a draw for some local users looking for entertainment during their camping trip. This reviewer also praised the availability of "clean bathrooms and shower houses" for use day and night and described the river as "amazing" and "absolutely beautiful," indicating that the natural environment, particularly the river, is a significant attraction.
However, another, more detailed review paints a considerably different picture, outlining several negative interactions with the staff and raising concerns about the business's management and customer service. This reviewer's experience began with a booking made a couple of months in advance for two electric campsites and four six-man rafts. Upon calling a week ahead for details, they were informed that their campsite assignment wouldn't be known until arrival. Subsequent calls regarding float details led to being given one campsite number, with the second promised upon arrival due to an unfinished map. They were also told this initial campsite had four electrical posts.
Upon arrival, this group was informed they would only receive one campsite instead of the two they booked. They also found only two electrical posts (with four outlets) instead of the promised four posts. They were told it was a double campsite, and they would only get one site, which they stated was not what they had booked or explained previously. The woman checking them in initially said they would receive a refund for the second campsite, attributing a discrepancy to a coworker with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, while also appearing to be under the influence. However, this was quickly retracted, with the same staff member returning to their campsite to say there would be no refund because it was a double site, leading to confusion and frustration.
The reviewer's experience continued with multiple instances of the check-in staff driving to their campsite, even after they expressed wanting to be left alone to enjoy their weekend. There were also issues with wristbands for their group, requiring another trip to the office. During this interaction, when the reviewer attempted to discuss the discrepancies between what they were told and the reality, the staff member became defensive, raised her voice, and denied ever providing the campsite number over the phone, despite having done so. The reviewer had to retrieve their phone records to prove the information was indeed given. This ultimately led to the reviewer leaving the office due to the unprofessional behavior. The staff member then reportedly drove to their campsite yet again. The next day, another employee approached their group, asking if they were "THAT group" and if they were having a better time, indicating that their negative experience had become known among the staff.
This detailed negative review concludes that while they might have had a great time otherwise (presumably due to the river and the concert mentioned by the other reviewer), the staff's handling of the booking and their interactions with guests were severely lacking in professionalism and business acumen. The reviewer noted that the campgrounds were over half empty, even with a concert taking place, suggesting that the management issues might be deterring visitors.
Considering these contrasting reviews, the environment of Bearcat Getaway includes access to a river described as beautiful, and there is a stage area suggesting outdoor concerts are held there. The availability of clean bathrooms and shower houses is also mentioned as a positive aspect of the facilities.
The services and features appear to include campsites with electrical hookups (though the number of posts and outlets might vary), river access for recreational activities, a stage for live music performances, and clean bathroom and shower facilities. The mention of booking rafts suggests that river floating might be an activity offered. However, the significant discrepancy in the experience regarding booking accuracy, campsite allocation, and staff communication raises serious concerns about the reliability of these services.
There is no promotional information provided in the reviews, such as discounts or special events, beyond the mention of a concert that took place during one reviewer's stay. Therefore, it's difficult to comment on any active promotions.
For local users in the Annapolis, MO area looking for "camping near me," Bearcat Getaway presents a mixed bag. The potential for enjoying a beautiful river and attending concerts on-site could be appealing. The availability of clean facilities is also a plus. However, the detailed negative review raises significant red flags regarding the accuracy of bookings, the allocation of campsites, and the professionalism of at least some of the staff. Potential visitors should be aware of these reported issues.
If you are considering Bearcat Getaway for "camping near me," it might be prudent to call ahead and get very clear confirmations in writing about your booking details, including the number and type of campsites, the amenities included, and any potential costs. Given the conflicting accounts, it would be wise to manage expectations and perhaps seek further recent feedback from other campers if available.
In conclusion, Bearcat Getaway offers the allure of a beautiful river, clean facilities, and occasional concerts, which could make it an attractive "camping near me" option for some. However, the serious issues raised in one detailed review regarding booking discrepancies and unprofessional staff interactions cannot be ignored. Local users should weigh these factors carefully and perhaps seek direct clarification from the management regarding their booking and what to expect during their stay.

Bearcat Getaway Reviews
The staff and people were very friendly. I will definitely be back. Their stage for concerts is close to the front of the campgrounds which makes it ideal for everyone no matter where you camp inside bear cat. Clean bathrooms and shower houses were available for use day and night and the river is amazing. Absolutely beautiful.
Jul 12, 2024 · Sajari DurkaTLDR: These people don’t know how to run a business or how to talk to their guests. Pretty sure she was drunk on the job.We booked a couple months in advance. 2 electric campsites, 4 six man rafts. Called a week ahead for details and were told we wouldn’t know campsite until we arrived. We had a few non-campers meeting just to float, so we called back for float details and were given one campsite number and told we’d get the other upon arrival as the map wasn’t finished yet. I was also told this campsite had 4 electrical posts.Upon arrival we’re informed we only get 1 campsite when we asked for 2. There’s also 2 electrical posts but 4 outlets. We’re then told this is a double campsite and we’re only getting one site. We explain this isn’t what we asked for or booked and this wasn’t explained to us as at all prior even when calling. The woman checking us in tells us we’ll get a refund for the second campsite. She said “I don’t know what the other girl was thinking she has cancer and is going through chemo.” The woman talking is clearly on drugs. We go to set up camp. The woman who checked us in then drives to our campsite to explain she called her coworker and we won’t be getting a refund after all since it’s a double site. Why did she say that then? I tell her this isn’t going well for us so far. She leaves. She DRIVES BACK AGAIN and tells us the other woman wants to talk to us in the office. At this point we just want to be left alone to enjoy our weekend. We go to the river for a bit and on our way back we notice half our group has wristbands for camping and some don’t. We have to go to the office for wristbands. We get the wristbands and both women are in the office. She says “oh it’s you from 7E. Do you want another site.” I said we’re fine with the site we’re at but I’d like to tell her about our experience because what we were told just isn’t matching up. I remained calm and composed but as soon as I said they told us the campsite number on the phone, she wouldn’t allow me to continue further. This caused a reaction in her, she raised her voice at me, was totally unprofessional and she was adamant they would never do that and asked me who I spoke with. I said “I don’t know. Which one of you took the time out of your day on Sunday to go through all your caller ID and actually call me back and do all that?” And they were silent looking at each other. I then went and got a phone and went through our text messages to search for our campsite number, 7E simply to prove she did tell me because she wouldn’t even let me tell her anything in my story past that. Then I left the office because f that bat. SHE DROVE TO OUR CAMPSITE!!!!! AGAIN. Like just leave us alone. So she admitted she did tell us that but still wouldn’t give us a refund and was trying to say I was somehow in the wrong. The next day another employee approached us “oh you’re THAT group are you having a better time?”So yeah we would’ve had a great time had this staff actually known how to run a business and interact with their customers. We literally just wanted to get what we paid for, be respected and left alone. There’s not much to want when camping and floating. The camp grounds were over half empty even with Jeremiah Johnson playing concert that Saturday. There’s clear reason why.
Jul 25, 2024 · Lilly BaurSmaller camp sites but great river area to play at. Would be great with another set of bathroom/shower house at the other end of the campground. We enjoyed the concert after the float trip. Even with the party vibe, the campground wasn't overly crowded or loud. We'll be back.
Jul 05, 2024 · Rebecca HoeyChose bearcat because previously I had been there years ago and I love the black river, we will absolutely never come back. Horrible customer service. We booked 2 electric campsites next to each other MONTHS in advance. When we arrived we were told it's another $40 per person to camp, despite spending almost $900 already to camp/float there. Still don't understand, but it sounded like we were charged for the campsite AND ALSO to camp on the campsite..? Then we find out, oops they only gave us one campsite not two, but refused to refund any of our money because it was a "double site". The campsite was plenty big, just not at all what we paid for, or what we were promised over the phone. We were told we would have 4 electric poles, we only had one with 2 plug ins for 16 people. They tried giving us a campsite across the way, but we declined because we were all one big group. We were told they never assign campsites before people get to camp...why take our reservation then? If you take $800 from me, you need to make sure that my reservation is KEPT. Then, to make matters even worse, the owner drove up to our campsite and refused to leave while my friend needed to cool down because she was rightfully upset. We told her to please leave and let our friend calm down, she refused. Another friend humored her by letting her "tell her side of the story", which none of us asked for or were interested in hearing. I suspect the owner and employees were either drunk or otherwise intoxicated. Very unprofessional. Was also told "we would never assign campsites before you get here" but they 10000% did, because we did not make it up out of thin air. If you're looking for a very unprofessional experience with what is essentially just some rednecks who own land and charge people to camp on it, stay at bearcat getaway! If you want to spend lots of money with no guarantee to get what you paid for, choose bearcat! If you would like a professional experience with people who actually know how to run a business, go anywhere else.
Jul 26, 2024 · jenny fallerMight not have the most updated amenities but it’s an absolute classic! Great for the laid back folks that want a spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Good bands, good people, just out of cell service so you can fully relax. Quick drive to Lenny’s to get service
