The environment of Parks Bluff Campground is consistently praised for its cleanliness. One reviewer explicitly stated, "Very clean campground," indicating a commitment to maintaining a pleasant and hygienic environment for guests. A major feature of Parks Bluff Campground is its access to the Black River, which is described as "crystal clear and relatively shallow" with a "fairly swift" flow of about 2 mph. This makes it ideal for floating, with one reviewer noting that paddling is generally not required except for steering. This is valuable information for those planning a float trip, as the campground appears to facilitate this popular local activity. The review also provides practical advice regarding the 6-mile float and the 3 pm first pick-up time, suggesting that floaters should either take their time or delay their start to avoid a long wait for the return shuttle.
In terms of on-site services and features, Parks Bluff Campground offers essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Clean and well-maintained shower and bath locations are available, although one reviewer advises paying attention to their placement relative to your campsite, as they "can be quite a walk" depending on your site's location. The fact that these facilities are "all clean, stocked and well taken care of" is a significant plus, ensuring a pleasant experience even with a potentially longer walk.
The campground is described as a "nice bare bones campground this time of year," suggesting that while it might offer a more fundamental camping experience, it provides the essentials well. The presence of "nice, large sites near the river" is a significant advantage, offering ample space and scenic views for campers. The proximity to local conveniences is another notable feature, with a "Dollar General and other stores for necessities" located nearby. This allows campers to easily access supplies without having to travel far, adding to the overall convenience of the location.
One of the significant draws of Parks Bluff Campground is its strategic location relative to two prominent natural attractions in the area: Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson Shut-ins State Park. Both are described as "amazing and unique parks" and are within a "short drive" from the campground. Very clean campground, was quiet past 10pm friendly staff.River is crystal clear and relatively shallow also flow is about 2 mph fairly swift without the need to paddle except to steer. Useful info since the float is 6 miles and first pick up is at 3pm. Take your time or delay start time or you will be waiting for quite some time for pick up.Pay attention to shower/bath locations. Depending on where your campsite is can be quite a walk. They were all clean, stocked and well taken care of.
Jun 23, 2024 · B MThis was a nice bare bones campground this time of year. Nice, large sites near the river and near a Dollar General and other stores for necessities. Within a short drive to Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson Shut-ins. Both amazing and unique parks.
Sep 23, 2024 · TonyNConnor CampbellDecided to detour off the TransAmerican Route 76 and ride 3 miles to this campsite. Stocked up at the Dollar General before entering campground. Did primitive camping which comes to find out it’s a one mile walk to the site by the river. Gravel is too lose to ride my bike. Site was okay. Too far to the showers. Bathrooms is a long walk. Decent toilets and showers, not the best. Bugs. Customer service was nice and helpful. Camp site was unseen from the RVs and I was the only one there in the evening.
Jul 27, 2024 · DroppinThe campground & all facilities were very clean. The location to the Black River is perfect. If you are going to relax and unplug from phones, people, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. this is perfect! There’s not a lot else to do except for the river and parks…exactly what we needed.
Jul 04, 2024 · Cresha SweedenGreat campground with reasonable pricing and fantastic atmosphere. Such a great place to unwind and unplug. The access to the Black River is fantastic and even on the hottest days of summer it's the best place to spend time. Spring fed and refreshing cool. Really low light pollution at night as well. It's nice to spend some time in nature where you can see the Milky Way and swap stories around the campfire but poo in a real toilet.
