Black River Camping at Horse Shoe Ranch Reviews
Great place to float with. Incredibly friendly people; from the initial phone call till they dropped us off at the end of our day, everyone was very nice.We brought our own kayaks and they let us park right by the office, hauled our equipment to the river and and then dropped us off right by our truck when we were done.Showers and bathroom available right there. We were floating with friends who were camping and the place was packed. Quite a few bathrooms and port a potties in the camping area, along with mostly electric sites. We saw a pretty good mix of tents and campers/rv’s.The office/store does have things like dry bags, phone dry boxes, sunscreen and more. Totally using these guys again.
Jul 15, 2024 · Aaron Barbee (A-A-Ron)Great little campground with clean bathrooms and river access for floating. They will schedule you for a float trip with either a kayak or raft, dropping off and bringing you back to the campground when finished. Good prices too!
Jul 11, 2024 · Dawn MooneyAbsolutely beautiful place, and very helpful and friendly staff. Had such a great time I went back 4 days later! Will be going again next year too!
Aug 23, 2024 · Mark WathernBeautiful campsite on a great section on the river. Very scenic. Only wish it was less crowded when we went or maybe the campsites were a little more spread out. Clearly this is a popular spot and for good reason. The people that camped next to us stayed up really late and were smoking and talking loudly. We could hear their whole conversation and then one of the float employees (driver/worker) joined in with them and talked about how dumb the patrons he dealt with that day were. To each their own I guess but It still gave my boyfriend and I a good laugh.Regardless, the river itself is beautiful and we will definitely be back. Good kayaks too. I wish the float was longer. It is pretty fast since the river moves quick. They say it’s 6 / 7 miles. Would recommend stopping and swimming or else you go through it too fast. I don’t recommend doing a raft if the water level is low. You put 3 people on that thing with a cooler and your going to be dragging it everywhere.
Sep 03, 2023 · Sarah NashIf you're looking for a quiet, relaxing campground on the river, this is it! This is NOT a party campground. They have quet hours, and they were respected by all. Our group has been coming to Lesterville for 20+ years, and from now on, this is where we will be staying when we come. I almost hate to leave a good review because this place is a diamond in the rough, and I hope it never changes! The owners and staff were all wonderful.
