Riversedge Campground Introduce
For local residents in Lesterville, Missouri, and the surrounding areas seeking "camping near me" with river access and potential float trip opportunities, Riversedge Campground, located at 2100 Peola Rd, Lesterville, MO 63654, USA, warrants careful consideration based on recent customer feedback. While the location itself is appreciated by some, significant concerns have been raised regarding the staff and the quality of the float trip experiences offered. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, and features of Riversedge Campground as described by recent customer reviews, highlighting both the potential positives and the reported negatives to help local users make informed decisions.
The environment of Riversedge Campground is clearly a draw for some visitors, with one reviewer stating they "Loved the location." The name itself suggests a riverside setting, likely offering access to the Black River, which is known for its scenic beauty and float trip opportunities in this region of Missouri. Camping near a river can provide a picturesque backdrop, opportunities for swimming, fishing, and simply enjoying the sights and sounds of flowing water. One reviewer specifically mentioned and enjoyed the "wood sites," indicating that at least some campsites are located in a wooded area, offering shade and a more natural camping feel.
However, the positive aspects of the location appear to be overshadowed by significant negative feedback regarding the staff. One reviewer described the staff as "horrible" and stated that they "literally the worst and ruined the experience," even expressing a wish for new ownership. This strongly suggests a major issue with customer service at the campground, which can significantly impact the overall enjoyment of a stay. The specifics of the negative interactions are not detailed, but the strength of the language used indicates a serious concern for potential visitors.
Riversedge Campground apparently offers float trips as an activity, as mentioned by both reviewers. One camper paid $150 for a float trip that was rained out and was denied a refund, stating, "They wouldn't refund the money either." This raises concerns about the campground's policies regarding cancellations and refunds for their activities due to unforeseen circumstances like weather. The other reviewer also had a negative experience with a float trip organized by Riversedge Campground, not due to weather, but due to the chosen section of the river and alleged misinformation about the river conditions. They reported being told the conditions were fine and rafts were not dragging, but their experience was quite the opposite: "We had to drag our rafts for miles." They described the section of the Black River used by Riversedge Campground as "terrible" compared to other sections they had floated previously, even suggesting a better starting point further downstream near Park Bluff.
In terms of facilities, one reviewer noted that the campground has "Older facilities," suggesting that visitors should not expect modern or recently renovated amenities. However, they also mentioned that the "campground was fine," indicating that while dated, the facilities were perhaps still functional. The enjoyment of the "wood sites" suggests that the natural setting of the campsites themselves was a positive aspect for this reviewer, despite the age of other facilities.
Based on the limited information and the strong negative feedback, the services at Riversedge Campground appear to include:
- Campsites, some of which are wooded. The type of hookups available (water, electric, sewer) is not mentioned.
- Older restroom and shower facilities (implied by "older facilities").
- Organization of float trips on the Black River (though with significant reported issues).
The phone numbers provided, (573) 307-1140 and +1 573-307-1140, are the primary means of contacting Riversedge Campground. Local users are strongly advised to call and inquire about the current status of the facilities, the specific sections of the river used for float trips, the campground's policies on cancellations and refunds for activities, and to get a better understanding of the current staff and their customer service approach based on the negative reviews. Asking specific questions about these areas will be crucial for making an informed decision.
The primary feature that might attract local users is the riverside location and the potential for float trips on the Black River. However, the negative reviews strongly caution against the current execution of the float trip service and highlight significant issues with the staff. The wooded campsites are a potential positive for those who prefer a natural setting.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users should inquire directly with the campground management about any potential discounts, special offers, or packages that might be available for camping or float trips, keeping in mind the reported negative experiences with the latter.
In conclusion, Riversedge Campground near Lesterville, MO, offers a potentially appealing riverside location with wooded campsites. However, recent customer reviews raise serious concerns about the staff's demeanor and the quality and refund policies related to the float trips they offer on the Black River. While one reviewer found the campground itself "fine" despite older facilities, the negative experiences with the staff and the float trip appear to have significantly detracted from their overall stay, leading them to state they would not return and even suggest alternative locations for floating on the Black River. For local users seeking "camping near me" at Riversedge Campground, it is strongly recommended to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers to address the serious concerns raised in the reviews before making a reservation, particularly if they are interested in participating in a float trip organized by the campground.

Riversedge Campground Reviews
Loved the location, but the staff was horrible. Also paid 150 for a float trip and we were rained out. They wouldn't refund the money either. But staff was literally the worst and ruined the experience. Wish they would sell to someone else!
Mar 05, 2025 · Chelsea CarrilloThe campground was fine. Older facilities but I really enjoyed the wood sites. We won't be going back though because the float trip sucked. I get that mother nature plays a big role in it, but they lied to my face when I asked about river conditions. I was told they were fine and rafts where not dragging. We had to drag our rafts for miles. By the time we got close to the take out and the river was finally good we were all to exhausted to enjoy the last half mile. The section of river they chose to float is terrible. Every other time I've floated on the black it has been great. Probably go back to Park Bluff, there float starts just before this one ends. Much better section of the river.
Aug 05, 2024 · David HallThe staff was very friendly but easily distracted and would start speaking with other people while being in the middle of checking us out. Once I had made my payment, they sent me on my way with no information as to where our sites were or a map to try and find them. The restrooms were cleaned on Friday when I arrived, but by Sunday morning, they had not been cleaned out or trash taken out.We ended up reserving 4 sites, none of which had a usable fire pit to grill on. Each site did not have a clean layout or even a designated spot to park. There was also not a picnic table at every site. There were also quite a few other guests that had loud speakers playing music. This was of no issue until we hit quite hours. The quiet hours were not enforced at all, which led to many groups still playing load music at 12:30 a.m., making it quite hard to fall asleep. For the floating portion of our trip we were very disappoint. They did not provide us with any information as to how long the float would be, what time we had to be back by, or where we were supposed to take out. When we were dropped off at the beach to put in, the staff was very rude and was trying to rush us off the beach as fast as possible. One of our rafts had a leak in to before we even started. The two inner tubs we rented were not even floating inner tubs. They were truck tire inner tubs that were black with long valve stems. Both of those things led to them being highly uncomfortable and even hard for some of our smaller people to sit in. Over all it was enough small things that made they entire weekend a bit of a disappointment.
Jun 23, 2024 · Mazikeen Viejo-RoblesA friend of mine took me tent camping here last year and I loved it. We took another friend just last weekend and we had a great time. I like to be close to the river and we were both times. I’m planning to take my Dad in a couple of weeks. He’s going to love it. It’s a nice family friendly campground and everyone in the office was super friendly. The bathrooms & showers are clean and in descent shape. The only downfall was I had no phone service but that’s not always a bad thing…lolI recommend Riversedge Campground and will definitely be going back.
Jun 16, 2024 · Rhonda LailerWe have been camping at riversedge for over 10 yrs and we love the location to the river and the new owners are trying to bring it up to date with the computer systems and reservations. Plus we all ready see the shower house / bathrooms are under construction with updates. They also graded out the gravel slope going into the river so it makes it easier to walk into the water. For a nice shady campground close to the river this would be it.
