Bentley's Campground & Motel Introduce
Looking for a distinctive "camping near me" experience? Bentley's Campground & Motel, located at 1601 Portland Rd in Arundel, Maine, offers a unique combination of camping and motel accommodations alongside the renowned Bentley's Saloon. Based on customer reviews, this location provides more than just a place to stay; it offers entertainment and potential encounters with notable personalities.
One visitor enthusiastically recounted their "great stay at the Campground" and enjoyment of Bentley's Saloon. A highlight of their visit was a personal tour of Bentley's car and motorcycle collection, an unusual and appealing feature for enthusiasts. Furthermore, they had the exciting opportunity to meet "famous drivers Ray Miller and Bentley Warren," describing it as a "blast" to interact with these "2 legends" who were also "2 super nice guys." This review suggests that Bentley's Campground & Motel, particularly through Bentley's Saloon, offers unique entertainment and the chance to engage with personalities from the racing world or related scenes.
Another reviewer shared details of a last-minute stay in a rental called "the Crusher," which was advertised to sleep six people. The cost for this last-minute booking was $330. Upon arrival, the reviewer noted that while the place "looked awesome," there were some practical limitations within the rental. The accessibility around the beds in the first two bedrooms was described as limited. The third sleeping quarter, to reach the advertised capacity of six, was assumed to be a pull-out sofa, as a third traditional bedroom was not found.
The second bedroom was ultimately used, with the bed being comfortable. However, the room was small, lacking space even for a small bedside table. On a more positive note, the reviewer enjoyed the "small deck that was amazing." The following morning brought some issues, including a "horrible smell" when the sink was turned on, making it unpleasant to brush teeth with the water. Additionally, no shampoo was provided in the room. The reviewer ended up skipping a shower and using Fresca on their toothbrush. Lastly, upon visiting Bentley's Saloon for breakfast at 10:55 AM, they were informed that breakfast service had ended at 11:00 AM, suggesting a very tight window.
Despite these inconveniences, this second reviewer expressed their overall affection for "Bentleys other than the water smell and just $1 worth of shampoo." They concluded by stating that in the future, they would ask about such details and avoid last-minute bookings. This indicates that while there might be some areas for improvement regarding the rental accommodations, the overall experience, likely influenced by the unique aspects of Bentley's Saloon and the general atmosphere, still holds appeal for this customer.
Combining these reviews, Bentley's Campground & Motel appears to offer a distinctive experience that goes beyond traditional camping or motel stays. The presence of Bentley's Saloon, with its car and motorcycle collection and potential for meeting notable figures, is a significant draw. For local users interested in a campground that offers entertainment and a social atmosphere, this could be a compelling option.
However, potential visitors should also be aware of the points raised in the second review regarding the rental accommodations, such as the size of the rooms, the limited accessibility around some beds, the potential issue with water smell, and the lack of provided toiletries like shampoo. If considering a rental like "the Crusher," it might be beneficial to inquire about the layout and amenities beforehand, especially for larger groups or those with specific needs regarding room size and accessibility.
For those primarily interested in the unique entertainment offered by Bentley's Saloon, staying at the campground or motel provides convenient access. The opportunity to see a notable car and motorcycle collection and possibly meet famous personalities is not a typical offering of most campgrounds or motels, making Bentley's a potentially exciting destination for those with such interests.
To summarize, Bentley's Campground & Motel in Arundel, Maine, presents a unique option for "camping near me" seekers. It combines accommodation with the added attraction of Bentley's Saloon, known for its collections and atmosphere. While one review highlighted some shortcomings in a specific rental unit, the overall sentiment suggests a memorable experience, particularly for those who appreciate the saloon's offerings. If you are a local user looking for a campground with a twist, offering more than just a place to sleep, Bentley's could be worth exploring. Bentley's Campground & Motel Reviews
Was a great stay at the Campground and enjoyed Bentley's Saloon, too. Bentley gave us a personal tour of his car and motorcycle collection. Got to visit with the famous drivers Ray Miller and Bentley Warren. What a blast, 2 legends, and 2 super nice guys.
Jul 13, 2024 · Lonnie EdmondI love Bentleys Saloon. My first last minute stay at campground was in the Crusher with should sleep 6. The rental for the night was $330 oh well that's what you get for last minute. Left Saloon at closing time and headed to the Crusher, place looked awesome. Opened up door to bedroom #1 with bed against that wasn't going to work. Opened door to 2nd bedroom again limited access around bed. Checked for the 3rd bedroom but didn't find one so we guessed the pull out sofa was the third sleeping quarters to add up to 6 person sleeping capacity. So bedroom #2 it was. Bed comfy but room so small couldn't even a accommodate a tiny bedside table for a drink or to set phone on. Sat on small deck that was amazing. Woke up in AM and turned on the sink and there was a horrible smell. Tried brushing my teeth with water and just about chocked. Looked for shampoo none to be found. Let room with out a shower and used Fresca to put on my toothbrush to brush our teeth. Finally was when we got to Saloon at 10:55 and we're told breakfast ended @ 11...I love Bentleys other than the water smell and just $1 worth of shampoo.... Just time I will ask and not plan last minute.
