For local users exploring options under the category "camping near me," Red Apple Campground, located at 111 Sinnott Rd, Arundel, ME 04046, USA, presents a campground with notable positive attributes alongside some areas of concern, based on recent customer reviews. You can contact them at phone number (207) 967-4927 or mobile number +1 207-967-4927 for inquiries and reservations.
To provide a detailed and objective introduction for local users searching for "camping near me," we will analyze the recent customer feedback for Red Apple Campground, considering both the positive and negative aspects to offer a balanced perspective on the environment, services, and features.
One reviewer recounted a negative initial experience upon arriving at the campground three hours before the stated 1:00 PM check-in time. They described the "lady at the desk" as a "HUGE negative," citing a lack of friendly welcome and being told to leave immediately because their site was not ready, despite the visible availability of numerous vacant sites. This initial interaction reportedly "left a bad taste in the mouth." Adding to this negative start, the reviewer mentioned finding dog poop on their site upon finally being allowed to check in. They also noted the campground's policy of being "cash only" but still requiring credit card information "just in case," which they found contradictory or unusual.
However, this same reviewer also offered positive feedback, stating that "the whole facility was actually really pleasant" and that "the other people working the campground were very pleasant." This suggests a dichotomy in the staff's demeanor, with a significant issue reported at the front desk but positive interactions with other campground employees. The reviewer concluded by suggesting that "the face of the business needs to work on being welcoming and friendly," highlighting the importance of a positive first impression.
In contrast, another reviewer, a mature couple without kids or pets, had a very positive experience at Red Apple Campground. They found it to be "neat, quiet and beautifully maintained," which could be particularly appealing to local users seeking a peaceful and orderly camping environment. Their site was described as paved, with a separate paved area for a tow car, indicating well-maintained and potentially RV-friendly sites. They also praised the "clean" restrooms and the campground's convenient location near attractions they wanted to explore, suggesting it could be a good base for local sightseeing.
This reviewer noted the presence of seasonal sites but found them to be "tidy and well kept," indicating that the long-term residents contribute to the campground's overall positive appearance. They were impressed with the "crystal clear" and heated pool, and they appreciated the availability of "adult only pool time," which caters to guests without children seeking a quieter swimming experience. They also enjoyed a "small rec room," suggesting some indoor recreational facilities are available. This overwhelmingly positive experience led them to plan a return visit and recommend the campground as "lovely tidy quiet" and "just our speed."
Considering these two reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" will find that Red Apple Campground in Arundel, Maine, presents a generally well-maintained and pleasant facility with some inconsistencies in the initial customer service experience. The campground appears to cater to a mature, quieter demographic, as highlighted by the second reviewer's positive experience. The availability of paved sites suggests suitability for RVs, and the presence of a heated pool with adult-only hours, along with a rec room, indicates some appealing amenities.
Arundel, Maine, is located in a coastal region of southern Maine, known for its proximity to popular tourist destinations like Kennebunkport and Biddeford. The environment around Red Apple Campground likely includes a mix of wooded areas and proximity to the coast, offering potential access to beaches, scenic coastal drives, and charming New England towns. The campground's location "right near all the things we wanted to explore" suggests it is well-situated for accessing local attractions, which could include beaches, shops, restaurants, and natural areas.
While the reviews provide insights into the cleanliness, maintenance, and some amenities (pool, rec room), specific details about the types of campsites available (e.g., tent-only areas, RV hookup types), other potential services (e.g., laundry facilities, Wi-Fi), and the overall layout of the campground are not detailed. The mention of seasonal sites indicates a community aspect to the campground.
The dog poop found on one site suggests that pets may be allowed at Red Apple Campground, but the second reviewer explicitly stated "no pets" about their own experience, which might imply certain restrictions or policies regarding pets. Local users traveling with pets should inquire specifically about the campground's pet policy.
The "cash only" policy with a request for credit card information "just in case" is an unusual feature that potential campers should be aware of and may want to clarify with the campground management.
Promotional information is not included in the provided data. Local users interested in seasonal rates, discounts for longer stays, or any special offers would need to contact Red Apple Campground directly. Their phone numbers, (207) 967-4927 or +1 207-967-4927, are the best way to obtain this information. They may also have a website or online booking platform where pricing and availability are listed.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in southern Maine, Red Apple Campground in Arundel offers a generally clean, quiet, and well-maintained facility with some appealing amenities like a heated pool with adult hours and paved sites. However, there is a notable concern raised about the initial customer service experience at the front desk, and the pet policy and cash-only requirement warrant clarification. The campground's location is convenient for exploring the attractions of the southern Maine coast. Potential campers should weigh the positive feedback regarding the facilities and maintenance against the negative report about the initial welcome and inquire about specific policies and amenities to determine if Red Apple Campground meets their needs for a local camping getaway.

Red Apple Campground Reviews
We got to the campground at 11, which was ahead of the check-in time of 1pm. The lady at the desk was a HUGE negative for us! Instead of a friendly welcome, she told us that we couldn't be there until 1:00 and we needed to leave now, that our site wasn't ready. You could see that there were plenty of vacant sites. It just left a bad taste in the mouth. The topper was when we finally were allowed to check in, there was dog poop in our site. Also, a cash only place, but wanted our credit card info just in case. The whole facility was actually really pleasant and the other people working the campground were very pleasant. The face of the business needs to work on being welcoming and friendly.
Sep 04, 2024 · KR HarkinsWe are a mature couple, no kids, no pets and found this campground to be neat, quiet and beautifully maintained. Site was paved and also a paved area for tow car. Rest rooms were clean and it was located right near all the things we wanted to explore. There are seasonal sites, but they are tidy and well kept. Pool was crystal clear although we didn’t use, it is heated and I saw people in it. They also have adult only pool time which I appreciate. A small rec room was enjoyed, too. We are already planning another getaway and plan to return to this lovely tidy quiet campground. It’s was just our speed.
Jun 10, 2024 · diane prayNice and quiet & relaxing - just like their sign says. Mostly older crowd (no roving gangs of kids screaming by on golf carts or bikes), clean and tidy, safe feeling camp ground. Perfect for our needs and close to many great restaurants (Duffys was so, so good!).
Sep 28, 2024 · M. R.-H.Awesome campground! Sites are nicely sized, and have enough space. trees between them. Bathrooms are very very clean. Laundry room/ dishwashing room is very nice. Staff is amazing, and I love the gaming/ movie/ activity room. I'm not sure if I was dreaming but I asked how much a hat was, and the lady responded free :). Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Next time we visit the area, we will be going back!
Apr 25, 2024 · Chase FreedWe can't say enough good things about this campground. It is clean, well kept, and quiet. Plenty of amenities and relatively close to Kennebunkport. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, including delivering already cooked lobsters. We highly recommend this campground.
