Based on recent customer reviews, Sandy Pines provides excellent hospitality, clean facilities, and a range of features that cater to families and other campers seeking a memorable getaway.
One family who stayed over Columbus Day weekend shared a particularly positive experience in one of the cabins, aiming to counter some mixed reviews they had seen. From the moment of check-in around 9:30 PM, they found the staff to be "extremely hospitable and professional." The gentleman who assisted them was very helpful in guiding them to their cabin. Upon arrival, they noted that the cabin was "very clean" and that "everything worked as intended and was in good shape." This speaks to the campground's commitment to maintaining quality accommodations for their guests.
For families, Sandy Pines seems to be particularly appealing. This reviewer mentioned a "bunch of planned Halloween themed events for the kids," indicating that the campground organizes activities to engage younger visitors, especially during holiday weekends. Their cabin was also conveniently located "right near the playground," which was a significant plus for their family. This suggests that the layout of the campground considers the needs and interests of families with children.
Another highlight mentioned was the "well stocked 'general store'" on-site. The family found it very convenient for grabbing breakfast, enjoying breakfast sandwiches and coffee each morning. They were also pleasantly surprised to find gluten-free English muffins available, catering to specific dietary needs. This amenity adds a layer of convenience, allowing campers to easily access essential items and food without leaving the campground.
The overall atmosphere of the campground also received positive feedback. The reviewer noted that while neighbor experiences can vary, "everyone around us was very respectful and quiet," contributing to a peaceful weekend. The "bathhouses were conveniently located and cleaned regularly," with the staff apparently cleaning the showers and toilets "several times a day." This emphasis on cleanliness is a significant advantage for any campground. So positive was their experience that this family booked their stay for the following year, a strong testament to their satisfaction.
Another reviewer described Sandy Pines as a "huge campground with a lot of different overnight stay options!" This highlights the variety of accommodations available, catering to different preferences and needs. They stayed in a "newly renovated 'Rosemary'" unit, which they found "very comfortable." This renovated option included desirable features such as "a small kitchen to cook, an outdoor patio space, and plenty of space inside." The comfort of the beds was also noted positively. This suggests that Sandy Pines offers well-appointed and comfortable options beyond traditional campsites, possibly including cabins or glamping-style accommodations.
This second reviewer also appreciated the "General Store," mentioning that it had "a lot of nice goodies to choose from," reinforcing the positive impression of this on-site amenity. The combination of comfortable and potentially newly renovated accommodations, a well-stocked store, and the overall size of the campground suggests a comprehensive camping destination with something for everyone.

Sandy Pines Campground Reviews
My family and I stayed here on Columbus date weekend and had a great time. We stayed in one of the cabins. I have seen some mixed reviews but wanted to counter that with a positive review. From the moment we checked in staff was extremely hospitable and professional. We checked in around 9:30 and the gentleman was extremely helpful in showing us how to get to the spot. The cabin was very clean upon check in and everything worked as intended and was in good shape. There were a bunch of planned Halloween themed events for the kids and we were right near the playground which was awesome.Additionally they had what I felt was a well stocked “general store” with items you may need. We took advantage of that for breakfast sandwiches and coffee each morning as it was just too easy. They even had gluten free English muffins which was surprising!I imagine it all depends on who your neighbors are, but everyone around us was very respectful and quiet, the weekend was peaceful. The boathouses were conveniently located and cleaned regularly. It seemed that staff cleaned the showers and toilets several times a day.We had such a good time we booked for next year.

Oct 16, 2024 · Harry & LyssMy husband and I had a great little get away at Sandy Pines. Everything was clean and charming. The grounds are well taken care of and everything is easily walkable. We did not realize that the bathrooms were communal which was our fault but just know that before booking. Overall excellent stay! We will be going back
Aug 14, 2024 · Elissa ParkerLook I'm sorry to have to do this but I've stayed here a few times over the years. The reviews (like this one), are growing negative for only one reason: greed from management/ownership.A basic tent site, no wifi, no hookup, is 90 U.S Dollars. For camping. For one night. On a weekday. In late September. That's completely insane and ownership should feel ashamed.Staff are amazing. I feel truly bad for them because they have to rip off families with their made up booking fees and whatnot. The campground is great as far as bathrooms and location and whatnot. But I'm not going to support a business that is just so flat out greedy. It's camping. You can't charge people nearly 100 bucks to for a plot of dirt and a fire ring. We should be encouraging people to get out and connect with nature but it's greed like this that gets in the way. So today, instead of camping at Sandy Pines for 90 bucks I went and got a hotel room and now I'm in a King sized bed watching The Office on a 50 inch flatscreen. And I saved 20 bucks. See what I mean? Lower your costs and you guys will be fine.
Sep 17, 2024 · Peter KovachHave been staying here since they opened. I now have my own seasonal and get to bring my kids here and they love camp. Every year, the staff are friendly and willing to accommodate in anyway they can. The store has everything and then some. They maintain property very well. ALL amenities are great, especially the extras added on some weekends!
