Bloomfield Campground - Lewis and Clark SRA Introduce
Looking for a local camping destination that combines beautiful scenery with opportunities for water activities? Consider Bloomfield Campground, located within the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area (SRA) in Crofton, NE 68730, USA. Easily found under the 'camping near me' category, Bloomfield Campground offers a range of experiences for different types of campers, particularly those who appreciate being close to the water. You can reach them at (402) 388-4169 or their mobile number, +1 402-388-4169, for inquiries.
Based on feedback from fellow campers, Bloomfield Campground provides a setting ideal for those who enjoy lake activities. One visitor who came to camp and kayak for a weekend, despite rainy weather, still managed to get out on the water and noted that the lake was surprisingly warmer than the air. This suggests that even if the weather isn't perfect, the proximity to the water offers enjoyable experiences.
Another camper described Bloomfield Campground as the "perfect spot" for those who prefer smaller camping options over large RV-dominated campgrounds, especially for tent camping. While they did mention the presence of RVs, which seems common in the area, they secured a "great spot on a hill that overlooked the lake and the dock." This indicates that the campground offers a variety of sites with different views and settings, some with scenic lake overlooks. The comfort felt by this camper in leaving their kayak in the water overnight (locked) suggests a level of security and a convenient setup for water enthusiasts.
For those planning to have campfires, it's worth noting that finding wood near the sites is "fairly easy" if you are willing to put in some effort to haul it in and cut it down. However, one reviewer advised against relying solely on readily available wood, suggesting it might be a good idea to bring your own firewood to ensure you have an ample supply.
The campground seems to have a level of oversight, as one visitor mentioned that their site was monitored twice during a two-night stay, including an evening and a morning check. This could provide a sense of security and ensure that campground rules are being followed.
A practical tip from a camper is to "bring your supplies - food, water, etc." as it can take an hour or two to travel out to get necessities if you forget them. This highlights the somewhat remote nature of the location, emphasizing the importance of being well-prepared with your essentials. However, the reviewer also noted that this travel time isn't excessively long if something is urgently needed.
One of the most appreciated features, particularly for those who might be accustomed to more primitive camping, is the availability of a bathroom "super close" to the camping area with running water and a flushing toilet. The fact that soap and water were also provided was a significant plus for this reviewer, who "had a blast" and "loved" the experience of camping right next to the water and fishing the whole time.
In terms of the environment, Bloomfield Campground's location within the Lewis and Clark SRA strongly suggests a setting rich in natural beauty, primarily centered around the lake. The presence of a hill overlooking the lake, as mentioned by one reviewer, indicates varied topography and potentially scenic views. The easy access to the water encourages activities like kayaking and fishing. While the availability of trees isn't explicitly detailed, the open view from the hilltop suggests some areas might be less shaded, while the possibility of finding wood nearby implies the presence of some wooded areas.
Regarding services, the campground offers both RV and tent camping sites. The availability of a bathroom with running water and flushing toilets is a significant amenity. While hookups for RVs aren't explicitly mentioned in these reviews, the presence of RVs suggests they might be available at some sites. The monitoring of the campground by staff indicates a level of management and potentially assistance available to campers. The proximity to the lake facilitates water-based activities directly from the campground.
Features of Bloomfield Campground include its lakeside location, making it ideal for kayaking and fishing. The variety of campsites, including those with lake views, caters to different preferences. The presence of a nearby bathroom with modern facilities enhances comfort. The potential for finding firewood on-site (with some effort) is another feature for those who enjoy campfires. The overall atmosphere seems to be favored by those seeking a balance between natural camping and some convenient amenities.
There is no specific promotional information in the provided reviews. However, the positive experiences shared by visitors, such as the enjoyment of kayaking and fishing, the scenic lake views from some campsites, and the convenience of nearby bathroom facilities, serve as organic endorsements for the campground. The fact that one reviewer found it the "perfect spot" for their preferred style of camping also speaks volumes.
For local users looking for a 'camping near me' experience that combines the beauty of Lewis and Clark SRA with direct access to the lake for activities like kayaking and fishing, Bloomfield Campground appears to be a strong contender. The availability of both tent and RV sites, along with the convenience of a nearby bathroom with running water and flushing toilets, offers a comfortable outdoor stay. The scenic lake views from some sites and the possibility of finding local firewood add to the appeal. While being prepared with your own supplies is advisable, the overall sentiment from reviews suggests a positive and enjoyable camping experience.
In conclusion, Bloomfield Campground within the Lewis and Clark SRA in Crofton, NE, provides a wonderful lakeside camping opportunity for local users. Its environment is characterized by its proximity to the water, offering scenic views and easy access for kayaking and fishing. Services include both tent and RV sites, with at least one bathroom facility featuring running water and flushing toilets. Key features are the lake access, varied campsite settings, and a generally appreciated atmosphere. Bloomfield Campground - Lewis and Clark SRA Reviews
Came to camp and kayak for the weekend over the summer, it ended up raining most of the time. Got a little time out on the water still. The water was actually a little warmer than being above it in my kayak! This campground was the perfect spot, I don’t like huge campgrounds filled with RVs and prefer small options for tent camping. This did have RVs around me, you can’t get away from that up here really. But I had a great spot on a hill that overlooked the lake and the dock. I felt comfortable enough to leave my yak in the water (locked of course) for the next day.Wood near the site is fairly easy to find if you don’t mind hauling it in and cutting it down a bit but wouldn’t rely on it.This site was monitored twice during my two night, day and a half stay. One evening check and one morning check.Bring your supplies - food, water, etc. as you can easily spend and hour or two heading out to grab things if you didn’t bring them. But that’s not long if you really needed something!
Oct 18, 2017 · Lauren TurnerIt's perfect! Camping right next to the water. We fished the whole time! There was a bathroom super close with running water and flushing toilet. I appreciate the soap and water. Maybe I'm used to primitive camping. I had a blast!!! Love it!
