Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort Introduce
Looking for a peaceful and family-oriented "camping near me" experience? Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort, located at 15854 Pretty Lake Dr, Mecosta, MI 49332, USA, offers a tranquil lakeside setting that prides itself on being a wholesome environment for families. You can reach them at (231) 972-4455 or +1 231-972-4455 for reservations and inquiries.
According to customer reviews, Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort boasts a very quiet atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and relaxation. One reviewer specifically noted that owners Nancy and Paul "really pride themselves on having a peaceful and wholesome family campground." The environment centers around Bluegill Lake, described as "very nice," with a walking trail that encircles it, perfect for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural beauty. The campsites are reported to be larger than average and very clean, with at least some offering 50 amp service.
The resort seems particularly focused on families with children. Reviewers highlighted the many kid-friendly activities, including themed weekends, crafts, and bike parades. One camper expressed gratitude for the wonderful time their family had, especially mentioning the kindness shown to their four-year-old. This suggests a welcoming and inclusive environment for young families.
In terms of services, Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort offers clean restrooms with showers, which is a significant plus for many campers. They also have a well-stocked camp store that one reviewer found to be reasonably priced. Firewood is available for purchase at what seems to be a decent price. For those interested in lake activities, fishing and swimming are mentioned as available, although details about beach areas or swimming facilities are not specified. It's also noted that you cannot bring your own canoe; you must rent from the resort.
However, some potential drawbacks were also mentioned by a long-term visitor. The campground's commitment to quiet can be perceived as "almost too quiet" for some. Notably, the resort is reportedly not very motorcycle friendly, requiring riders to park at the camp store and walk to their sites, citing noise concerns. This rule apparently does not uniformly apply to all vehicles, as observations were made of louder trucks and even a motorhome towing a motorcycle being treated differently. Additionally, gas-powered golf carts are not allowed due to noise, potentially incurring extra costs for electric versions for seasonal spot holders.
The reviews also suggest that organized activities are primarily geared towards children, with less emphasis on adult-focused events like corn hole or euchre tournaments. Furthermore, the surrounding area is described as not having a lot to do, with the nearest casino being about an hour away.
For local users in the "camping near me" category who prioritize a peaceful and family-oriented environment with a nice lake, Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort appears to be a strong contender. The large, clean sites and the abundance of activities for children are significant features. The walking trail around the lake and the clean restrooms add to the appeal.
However, if you are a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoy staying up late around a campfire, or are looking for a campground with more organized adult activities and lenient vehicle policies, this might not be the ideal choice. The strong emphasis on quiet and the specific rules regarding motorcycles and gas golf carts are important considerations.
In summary, Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort offers a tranquil lakeside camping experience that is particularly well-suited for families with young children who value peace and quiet. The owners, Nancy and Paul, are praised for being good hosts and for maintaining a clean and wholesome environment. Local users seeking a "camping near me" option that prioritizes these aspects should definitely consider Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort. We recommend contacting them directly at (231) 972-4455 or +1 231-972-4455 to inquire about site availability and any specific questions you might have regarding their policies and amenities.

Bluegill Lake Family Camping Resort Reviews
My family just got back from our Labor Day camping trip at Bluegill. If you are looking for peace and quiet, then this is it. Nancy and Paul really pride themselves on having a peaceful and wholesome family campground. They have large sites that are very clean, 50amp is what we had. My family honestly loved every minute. Nancy was an absolute sweetheart to my family, especially my crazy four year old who loved stopping into her store. Sometimes kids are not always quiet, but Nancy and Paul never mentioned a peep about my kids and honestly, I really didn’t hear any loudness from any groups or kids. Both want you to have a wonderful time but also be respectful to others during your stay. I absolutely love the themed weekends, the many many kid activities, fishing and swimming. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we hope to be back next year.
Sep 02, 2024 · Jackie PrinceNice quiet campground, very nice lake. We spent two seasons there, Paul and Nancy are good hosts. Store is stocked very well and is not as expensive as I thought it would be for a camp store. But with everything there are pro's and con's.The Pro's1. It's a very quiet campground.2. You get a pretty decent load of wood for $133. Camp sites are bigger than most.4. Nice walking trail that goes around the lake.5. Nice clean restrooms with showers.6. They do alot for the kids, crafts, bike parades, and suchThe Con's1. It's almost too quiet,2. They are not motorcycle friendly, if you ride you'll have to park at the camp store and walk to your site, the reason I got was "motorcycles are to loud", there are trucks that are louder than my bike that come in every weekend. There is a lady rider who literally has to ride past her camp site to park at the store and walk back to her site. I watched an older couple pull in across from our site with a motorcycle on the back of his rig and he rode out and back from his camp site, I guess if you drive a 200K motor home towing a 50K jeep the rules are different.3. They don't do much for the adults, be nice to see an organized corn hole, washer toss or euchre tournament.4. Not a lot to do in the surrounding area, casino is about and hour away if you're into that.5. No gas golf carts, again "their too loud" be prepared to pay extra for electric for your seasonal spot.6. Can't bring your own canoe in you have to rent from them.Again if your looking for a nice quiet campground this is your place, if you're a night owl and would like to stay up late and have fun around your camp fire please be aware that the owners will come out of nowhere and tell you to quiet down even if no one has complained, we never had this problem but know of those who did. Also had a guys weekend with my brother and 2 friends, they asked my neighbor to "let them know if there were any problems" that didn't sit well with me at all.
Nov 17, 2023 · Robert HalladayBeautiful and friendly! Very well maintained. Has that old time family reunion atmosphere. Our site was on a hill overlooking the quaint sitting fed lake. Lots of grass, not much dirt which is great. Owners are very friendly. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet family experience. I'm regards to negative reviews... If you own a dog the rule is to leash it! That's on you. If you are driving a class A it's not their fault you can't read... Very few 50amp mostly 25 so don't complain. Why mention in ground sewer as being an issue if you know coming in it's not available? Bathrooms are Kitchy but cute and clean. Quiet campground... If you are a huge group and loud I understand why you were asked to leave.
Jun 21, 2022 · Kat KWe stayed 3 nights in the cabin. The owners were very nice! They educated my kids about their turtles on the land and they seem to love their wildlife and want to protect it. The park is very relaxing and quiet. I included pictures of the inside of the cabin and the view. Also, the swimming area and the stack of wood I received for $13 (a lot!). I read some mixed reviews (wood, electric box, showers) so I was a little nervous. However, I believe it was a nice place to go! Showers are typical camping showers, nothing special but cleaned and gets the job done! The owners are nice and seem laid back. I would stay here again!
Jun 18, 2022 · Kristen TerrellHusband and I have been looking for a small quiet campground. Took a Sunday afternoon to take a drive up north and found this place. When driving in it looked cute, plenty of empty sites, small pond/lake and a general store. While going threw the campground we were met by whom I guessed is the owner on a golf cart. He pulled in front of our van and cut us off. Slurring and Sloppy drunk telling us that it's private property, we don't want you here, and we had to leave. Even though the sign out front clearly says "open to the public" and it's not like we were setting up camp. We were scouting and greatful we did. He was rude, obnoxious and drunk. If this is how you treat people looking for a place of relaxation, I would hate to see what it's like to actually stay there. Avoid this place!
