The cabins themselves provide a comfortable and convenient base for your outdoor adventures. While specific details about each cabin may vary, based on recent visitor feedback, you can generally expect essential amenities to enhance your stay. Many cabins are equipped with stoves and refrigerators, allowing you to prepare your own meals and keep your provisions fresh. The cots provided in the cabins offer a place to rest after a day of exploration, with some visitors noting improvements in mattress thickness for added comfort. These fundamental features ensure that you can enjoy the rustic charm of camping without sacrificing basic conveniences.
One of the standout features highlighted by recent guests is the ongoing improvement of bathroom facilities within Allegany State Park. While some trailside outhouses may have limitations, easily accessible and well-maintained bathroom facilities are typically within a short five to ten-minute walk from most cabin areas. Notably, the new Indian Creek toilet and shower facility has been praised for its cleanliness and modern amenities. Additionally, there are ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities in other areas of the park, such as near Diehl, promising an even better experience for future visitors. This commitment to enhancing guest comfort underscores the park's dedication to providing a positive camping experience.
Beyond the comfort of the cabins, Allegany State Park offers a wealth of activities to keep visitors of all ages engaged. Nature lovers will be delighted by the diverse wildlife that calls the park home. Keep an eye out for deer gracefully roaming through the woods, playful raccoons, elusive foxes, curious woodchucks, industrious beavers, and a variety of fascinating birds. While bears inhabit the park, exercising caution with food storage and trash disposal, as recommended by previous visitors, will help ensure a safe and enjoyable stay. For those interested in exploring the park's scenic trails, a new biking and walking path extending to Quaker Lake and the Fancher shower facility provides a safe and picturesque route for leisurely strolls and invigorating bike rides, away from vehicular traffic.
Allegany State Park is not just about independent exploration; it also offers a range of organized activities throughout the week suitable for all age groups. Whether you're interested in guided hikes, nature crafts, or educational presentations, there's likely something to pique your interest and enhance your understanding of this remarkable environment.
For those planning a stay at Brow Cabins, it's important to note the park's current trash management system. A central trash and recycling center is now located near Quaker Lake, and there are no longer individual dumpsters or other disposal locations throughout the park. This initiative promotes responsible waste management and helps to maintain the pristine beauty of the park for everyone to enjoy.

Brow Cabins, Allegany State Park Reviews
Brow trail - cabin #4 was great location but the trail bathrooms left a lot to be desired unless of course you enjoy hovering over a poop abyss. There are acceptable bathrooms within a five to 10 minute walk from trail
Oct 03, 2024 · Christine DolanFirst time back in over 10 years! It was great to be back with family and friends. Weather could have been better, but we made it work. Our group had a total of 5 cabins. The stoves and fridges were decent, cots had thicker mattresses than they did last time we were there. Reasonably comfortable. The new indian creek toilet/shower facility is very nice. Will be even better when the one near Diehl is finished. Also new for us was the beautiful biking/walking path that went all the way to quaker lake. It went at least to Fancher shower facility. It was very nice and gave everyone a safe place to walk and ride bikes without being on the roads. My only negative was the lack of service to the outhouses. Previously, maintenance staff visited every couple days, swept floor, replenished toilet paper and did a quick wipe down of the seats. Yes, they are outhouses, but used to be usable. The one by our cabin was pretty gross after 2 days (it served multiple cabins, not just ours). The one closer to three other cabins in our group was better, and only used by our group, so we maintained it ourselves.Allegheny is a beautiful park. We had a great time and are already planning next year's visit! There are numerous activities during the week for all ages. We saw deer, raccoons, fox, woodchucks, beavers, birds, and spiders! Lol. No bears, but they were around. We were very careful about food scraps and trash. There is now a central trash and recycling center near quaker lake for all trash. There are no dumpsters or other disposal locations.
Aug 14, 2023 · Debbie DriscollWe stayed in brow 3, and I have no complaints. The site is a bit muddy when it's been raining as much as it has been. But that's all apart of the camping experience. We had a blast, and can't wait to go back. All of the sites on Brow will be a pretty private experience. Outhouses and spickots are all close, too.
Jun 24, 2019 · Erica RebmannExcellent out-of-the-way location,. A little close to the construction/maintenance buildings. Bathrooms could use a thorough cleaning, cobwebs especially.
Oct 03, 2020 · Wendell (Just Me)4 stars because of the insert in the fireplace. It is ridiculously small and takes forever to get a fire started. Everything else was excellent.
