A Convenient Location with a Touch of Seclusion:
Bubba J's RV Park strikes a balance between accessibility and a sense of peaceful retreat. One reviewer noted that the location is "just a 15(ish) minutes from the interstate," making it a convenient stop for those on longer journeys. This proximity to the I-57 (based on the reviewer's direction from Chicago heading south) could also be advantageous for local campers seeking a quick and easy escape without venturing too far from home. The slight distance from the interstate, as suggested by the "15(ish) minutes," likely contributes to the "secluded area" and "quiet" atmosphere mentioned by another visitor. This combination of accessibility and tranquility can be highly desirable for a relaxing camping experience.
The immediate surroundings of Bubba J's RV Park appear to offer local flavor and convenience. One reviewer stumbled upon the park after looking up spots near a "generic restaurant." This suggests that the park is located in an area with some local dining options nearby, adding to the convenience for campers who may not always want to cook at their site. The presence of a restaurant within reasonable proximity can be a significant plus.
Services and Features Designed for Comfort and Convenience:
A key feature of Bubba J's RV Park is the availability of "Full hook ups." This is a significant advantage for RV campers, providing connections for water, electricity, and sewer at each campsite. Full hookups enhance comfort and convenience, allowing for a more seamless and enjoyable camping experience, especially for longer stays. Knowing that these essential services are readily available can be a major draw for RV owners.
Adding to the appeal is the presence of a "bar/grill right next door." This amenity offers a unique social aspect to the camping experience, providing a convenient place to grab a meal, enjoy a drink, and potentially interact with locals and other travelers. The positive experience one reviewer had at a nearby restaurant, encountering "some of the friendliest folks you’ll meet," hints at the welcoming atmosphere that might extend to the bar/grill as well. Having a dining and social option so close to the campsites adds a layer of convenience and potential for a more engaging camping experience.
While specific details about the RV spaces themselves are limited, one reviewer described their space as "perfect," even for an overnight stop. This suggests that the sites are likely well-maintained and adequately sized to accommodate various RV types. The reviewer also imagined it being a "fantastic summer camping destination for locals," implying that the park has the potential to offer a pleasant and enjoyable experience for a more extended stay during the camping season.
A Testament to Southern Hospitality in Southern Illinois:
One of the most striking aspects of the positive review is the emphasis on the exceptional hospitality encountered. The reviewer recounted a heartwarming experience at a nearby restaurant where, despite the kitchen being closed, they were offered a pizza with genuine Southern-style hospitality, something the reviewer noted was unexpected in Illinois. This anecdote speaks volumes about the welcoming and friendly atmosphere of the local area, which likely extends to Bubba J's RV Park itself. This kind of warm and accommodating environment can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, making guests feel valued and comfortable.

Bubba J's RV Park Reviews
I stumbled upon Bubba J’s while heading south from Chicago, needing a place to stay for the night. Sitting at a generic restaurant, I looked up spots and saw Bubba J’s pop up repeatedly with decent enough reviews and nearby restaurant. I decided to take a chance—and I’m so glad I did.The location is just a 15(ish) minutes from the interstate, assuming you're not an idiot like myself and miss a turn or two. The restaurant was full of locals, and they were some of the friendliest folks you’ll meet. I asked for a pizza, only to be told, “A) the kitchen is closed, and B) never mind—let me get you one right quick.” That kind of hospitality was something I'm used to in the South, but not in Illinois. As for the RV space itself, it was perfect. I can imagine it being a fantastic summer camping destination for locals, but for me, it worked just as well as an overnight stop hundreds of miles from home.I typically look for one-stop-only places, but Bubba J’s is officially on my “must-stop” list every time I head north. Thanks, Bubba J’s—you brought a big smile to a tired face that night.
Dec 24, 2024 · Ian AndrusykSecluded area, quiet and a bar/grill right next door. Full hook ups. Will stay again when we pass thru again.
Apr 30, 2025 · Kathy ThomasThis place is a good mix of rustic and comfortable. Great hook ups and water pressure, TONS of shade, bar next door with food and events, and about 15 mins drive from everything, while still being secluded. The camp host is really resourceful and friendly, I watched her hand craft a tool to help a guest with their slide out. It is rural, so expect bugs and wildlife at night.
Sep 06, 2024 · Cassi ChambersMy husband and I are traveling from Iowa to VA and needed a place to stop for the night. Lesson learned! Read the reviews before booking! It's not a bad campground, just very loud being next to a bar. Not an issue if you wanna party all night. Maybe this is why the owner didn't answer my call, just sent a text. No wifi and lights didn't work in either restroom. Needless to say, this won't be a place of return.
