Nov 12, 2024 · Xiaobing LiuWe had a great weekend tent camping at this campground. It was not a full campground which made the trip very enjoyable. There were some small groups and they were respectful of quite hours. Most sites were spaced out well, and had good amount of space for multiple tents (or a larger tent).Pro: many of the sites have pull through parking and BBQ grill. You can bring your own wood or collect drift wood for fires. Playground. Trails.Cons: the bathrooms were not kept clean or supplied. When we arrived there was TP in the restrooms, but by the end of the first day it was basically gone. One of the stalls in the women's was clogged and the men's also. By the end of the second day there was no TP.Lots of bees.
Oct 29, 2024 · DA KindleOur family had a wonderful camping trip here this summer. It was clean and had the most beautiful views. We had several water spouts and electrical outlets in the coverd pavillion. Our own private bathrooms and showers except for the few people from the public who wondered in. Perfect for big groups.
Jul 04, 2024 · Amy VangOur recent three-day camping trip at Buckhorn Campground near Black Butte Lake was great fun. The campground's cleanliness and serene atmosphere provided an ideal setting for a relaxing getaway. We particularly enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings, as the campground was relatively quiet during our stay.We selected site number 7 for our 32' RV, appreciating its decent views and ability to accommodate our RV. However, one aspect caught us by surprise: the orientation of the RV sites in relation to the road access. Sites 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, including ours, have their door facing the roadside due to the campground's directional access policy. This meant that instead of stepping out onto our campsite, we had to exit onto the road, which was an inconvenience and somewhat of a safety concern. It would have been helpful if this information were communicated on the booking site, allowing campers to make more informed decisions regarding site selection. Knowing in advance that certain sites would position the passenger-side door toward the road would have influenced our choice, as we prefer to exit directly into the campsite area and use the awning and lights.Despite this small inconvenience, our overall experience at Buckhorn Campground was positive. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and the cleanliness of the facilities enhanced our stay. We hope the campground management considers updating their information to include details about site orientation, ensuring a more seamless experience for future campers. We look forward to returning to Buckhorn Campground in the near future.
Mar 10, 2024 · Les DayBuckhorn Recreation Area at Black Butte Lake is a great early season getaway. In March, the campground is virtually empty, the hills are covered in green and if you time it right you can enjoy pleasant days for hiking and exploring. My daughter even jumped in the lake! Free showers and dump station. Playground, fitness equipment, volleyball court and horseshoe pits. Bring your own ball and shoes.
