Burrell's Ford Campground Parking Introduce
For local users seeking a well-maintained campground in a potentially scenic location with opportunities for family camping and fishing, Burrell's Ford Campground, located near Tamassee, SC 29686, USA, offers an appealing option. If you're browsing for "camping near me" and value a clean and quiet environment for your outdoor getaway, Burrell's Ford Campground is worth considering. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground is appreciated for its upkeep and suitability for families and fishing enthusiasts, though it has a unique characteristic regarding access to campsites from the parking area.
The environment of Burrell's Ford Campground is clearly a significant positive aspect, with one reviewer describing it as a "great place to camp and fish with your family!" This suggests a setting conducive to outdoor activities and family enjoyment. The mention of fishing implies proximity to a water source, likely a river or creek, which could enhance the natural beauty of the area and provide recreational opportunities for anglers. The campground is also described as "well taken care of," indicating that visitors can expect a clean and maintained environment, contributing to a pleasant camping experience. The fact that it's considered a step up from a previously favored local campground ("used to go to grapevine, but it done went down hill") further suggests a commitment to quality and upkeep at Burrell's Ford.
While specific details about the services and amenities offered at Burrell's Ford Campground are not extensively covered in the provided reviews, we can infer some common expectations for a campground that caters to families and fishing. Basic amenities would likely include designated campsites suitable for tents and possibly RVs. Given the mention of a parking lot separate from the campsites, it's reasonable to assume that there are defined camping areas within the campground. Standard campground services often include restroom facilities, which may range from basic to more developed bathhouses. Access to potable water is also a common expectation. The focus on fishing suggests that the campground might have features that support this activity, such as access to the water (river or creek), possibly designated fishing spots, or information about local fishing regulations.
A key feature of Burrell's Ford Campground, and one that potential local users should be aware of, is the distance and terrain between the parking lot and the campsites. One reviewer strongly advises to "bring a cart to move your gear from and to parking lot, especially going back to car," emphasizing that the return trip involves walking "uphill 1/3rd of mile without a cart." Another reviewer echoed this, stating that you "gotta be in shape to walk back up the hill lol." This indicates that the campsites are not directly accessible by vehicle and require a walk, potentially uphill and covering a significant distance, from the parking area. Therefore, local users planning to camp here should be prepared for this and consider bringing a suitable cart or plan to carry their gear. This setup might contribute to the "nice and quiet place" mentioned by one reviewer, as it likely limits vehicle traffic within the camping areas themselves, enhancing the peacefulness.
The features of Burrell's Ford Campground seem to be centered around its natural setting and the opportunities for outdoor activities. The proximity to a water source for fishing is a significant draw. The well-maintained nature of the campground contributes to a positive experience. The separation of parking from the campsites, while requiring some effort for gear transport, likely enhances the tranquility and safety within the camping areas. The fact that it's considered a good option for families suggests that the environment is suitable for children and group camping. The absence of overcrowding ("not too close to the other campers") is another positive feature, offering a sense of space and privacy.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, local users interested in camping at Burrell's Ford Campground might find value in the positive testimonials regarding its suitability for families and fishing, as well as its well-kept and quiet atmosphere. The repeated emphasis on the need for a cart to transport gear to and from the parking lot is a crucial piece of practical advice for potential visitors. To get more information about site availability, fees, specific amenities, and any potential promotions, local users are encouraged to contact the managing authority, which could be the US Forest Service or a local parks department in the Tamassee area. A phone number is provided for Sloan Bridge Picnic Area in the same vicinity ((864) 638-9568), which might be managed by the same entity and could provide information about Burrell's Ford Campground as well, though this is speculative and needs verification.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Tamassee, SC region, Burrell's Ford Campground presents a promising option, particularly for families who enjoy fishing and appreciate a well-maintained and quiet camping environment. The key consideration is the need to transport gear from the parking lot to the campsites, with a cart being highly recommended due to the uphill return walk. Despite this logistical aspect, the positive feedback regarding the campground's quality and atmosphere suggests a rewarding outdoor experience. Local campers should seek out contact information for Burrell's Ford Campground directly to inquire about reservations, amenities, and any specific guidelines or recommendations for their stay.
In conclusion, Burrell's Ford Campground near Tamassee, SC, offers local users a well-regarded destination for family camping and fishing. Its clean and quiet environment is appreciated by visitors. The unique feature of needing to transport gear from a separate parking lot to the campsites, especially the uphill return, should be taken into account by prospective campers, who are advised to bring a cart. Despite this, the positive reviews suggest a worthwhile outdoor experience for those seeking a well-maintained campground in a natural setting.

Burrell's Ford Campground Parking Reviews
Great place to camp and fish with your family! Well taken care of campground. Bring a cart to move your gear from and to parking lot, especially going back to car, can’t imagine walking uphill 1/3rd of mile without a cart.
Apr 13, 2025 · RuslanLoved it. Just gotta be in shape to walk back up the hill lol. Nice and quiet place. Not to close to the other campers. Did use to go to grapevine, but it done went down hill.
Apr 09, 2019 · Chris HodgesWas pretty bummed to see so much trash. There was a huge pile of trash at trailhead here. The small parking lot was also littered with trash and throughout the trails where we camped along the river. Really wish people would take everything with them as there are no trash cans for a reason. 😞
Oct 20, 2020 · Courtney PittsI love the camping area altho there is no service, for me that is a wonderful thing, grate trout fishing spots. I didn't get the full experience when I went because I got there at dark and left at three pm but I will be returning eventually. If I had to sum up my experience here in one sentence it would be " the perfect place to get away from everything in the modern world and relax"
Jan 21, 2021 · Garrison HKings Creek trail was so pleasant, and the falls were beautiful. It's a great short hike. Be careful if you're taking pups & kids. Lots of roots & rocks to trip you up and a few steep slopes, but an easy hike.
