It was a great campsite. It is more desert than forest at the camp but there are a few trees at various campsites. We had 14 people stay at tent group site 6. We brought 2 camp stoves and a stand up bbq. It is going to be windy so prepare to have some dirt in your tents. You'll need plenty of stakes for your tents. There is no fire wood so bring your own. We went through 9 bundles in two nights. Kern river is super close for fishing and swimming. There are single use restrooms and structural restrooms around the campsite. There is also various water spouts around camp. But you should also bring water and TP. - Tynan Field

Located at 8547 Sierra Way, Camp 9 offers a unique camping experience with diverse environments and facilities to cater to various needs. As featured on platforms like 'Camping Near Me,' Camp 9 stands out as a destination that combines natural beauty with essential amenities, making it a prime choice for local camping enthusiasts.

Camp 9 presents a fascinating blend of desert and woodland environments. While some campsites are characterized by a more arid, desert-like setting, you'll also find areas dotted with trees, providing welcome shade and a touch of greenery. This contrast allows campers to experience different facets of the Californian landscape within a single location. According to visitor reviews, even in the more open areas, the views are exceptional, offering a true escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

For those planning to camp with a larger group, Camp 9 offers dedicated group camping sites. Tent group site 6, as mentioned by a recent visitor who accommodated 14 people, provides ample space for tents and communal activities. It's worth noting that the area can be windy, so it's highly recommended to come prepared with sturdy tent stakes to ensure your shelter remains secure. While the immediate campsite might lean towards a desert feel, the proximity to the Kern River opens up a world of recreational opportunities.

One of the major highlights of Camp 9 is its close proximity to the Kern River. This offers fantastic opportunities for fishing and swimming, allowing campers to cool off and enjoy the refreshing waters. Imagine spending your days casting a line or taking a dip in the river, all just a stone's throw away from your campsite. This accessibility to water-based activities makes Camp 9 particularly appealing during the warmer months.

In terms of facilities, Camp 9 provides both single-use and structural restrooms for the convenience of campers. Additionally, you'll find various water spouts located around the campground, making it easier to access water for basic needs. However, based on user feedback, it is advisable to bring your own supply of drinking water and toilet paper to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Camp 9 is divided into four distinct campgrounds: A, B, C, and D. Campgrounds A and B are reservation-based and are particularly suited for large groups. This makes them an excellent option for family reunions, gatherings of friends, or organized camping trips where securing multiple sites together is essential. Planning ahead and making a reservation for these campgrounds is highly recommended, especially during peak seasons.

Campgrounds C and D operate under a different system, requiring a Southern Sierra Pass for access. These areas are known for their great views, offering picturesque panoramas of the surrounding landscape. Campers in these sections can also appreciate the comfortable and roomy parking spaces, ensuring ease of access and setup. Each site in these campgrounds is equipped with picnic benches and an outdoor fire pit, perfect for enjoying meals outdoors and gathering around a crackling fire in the evenings. Furthermore, a full-service dump station is available, adding to the convenience for those with recreational vehicles or trailers.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere of Camp 9, describing it as a place with amazing views, tranquility, and a generally quiet ambiance. The weather is often sunny and breezy, creating pleasant conditions for outdoor activities. The overall environment is conducive to relaxation and unwinding amidst nature's beauty. Whether you prefer basking in the sun or enjoying the gentle breeze, Camp 9 offers a serene escape.

It's important to note some practical considerations for your trip to Camp 9. As mentioned by previous campers, firewood is not provided at the campground, so you will need to bring your own supply. One group reported using nine bundles over two nights, giving you an idea of potential needs depending on your planned fire usage. Additionally, the desert-like environment in some areas means that wind can carry dust and dirt, so it's wise to take precautions to protect your tents and belongings.

In summary, Camp 9 offers a diverse and rewarding camping experience for local users searching on platforms like 'Camping Near Me.' Its location near the Kern River provides opportunities for fishing and swimming, while the different campground sections cater to various group sizes and preferences. Whether you're looking for a spacious group site in Campground A or B, or seeking scenic views and individual amenities in Campground C or D (with a Southern Sierra Pass), Camp 9 has something to offer. Remember to bring your own firewood, be prepared for potential wind and dust, and consider bringing extra water and toilet paper. With its blend of natural beauty and essential facilities, Camp 9 is a fantastic choice for your next camping adventure in the Kernville area.
