Grateful Flats RV and Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the scenic Crawford, Colorado area? Consider Grateful Flats RV and Campground, a unique and welcoming destination located at 646 CO-92, Crawford, CO 81415, USA. This small campground offers a refreshing alternative to larger, more impersonal RV parks, boasting a "great small town ambiance" and "very caring operators." If you value a personal touch and a close-knit community feel during your travels, Grateful Flats might be the perfect fit for you.
According to customer reviews, Grateful Flats RV and Campground is a place where the operators, Carl and Cheryl, truly make the difference. One reviewer enthusiastically states that they "will treat you like family," even recounting a heartwarming experience of them watching their dog during a wine tour. This level of personal care and attention is a significant feature that sets Grateful Flats apart. For local users seeking a friendly and supportive environment, this campground appears to prioritize guest comfort and well-being.
The campground's location on the edge of downtown Crawford offers a blend of peaceful surroundings and convenient access to local amenities. Imagine waking up to "expansive views towards the mesas," a hallmark of the stunning Colorado landscape. Within just a block, you can immerse yourself in the small-town charm of Crawford, potentially exploring local shops, eateries, and community events. This proximity to downtown allows for easy access to necessities and a taste of local life without sacrificing the tranquility of a campground setting.
Grateful Flats caters to a variety of accommodation preferences. Currently, they offer "several rental cabins and yurts," providing unique and comfortable lodging options beyond traditional RV sites and tent camping. For those traveling with their own recreational vehicles, there are "four RV parking spots with hookups," including water and electricity. It's important to note, as mentioned in a review, that as of that writing, sewer hookups were not yet available on-site. However, a "free dump" station is conveniently located just west of Hotchkiss, a short drive away. For tent campers, there are also "four tent sites" available, offering a more traditional outdoor experience.
The location of Grateful Flats also provides convenient access to a range of local activities and attractions. The review highlights "nearby access to fly fishing," appealing to anglers seeking to enjoy the renowned rivers and streams of the region. "Agricultural tourism" is also mentioned, suggesting opportunities to explore local farms, orchards, and perhaps participate in farm-to-table experiences. For those interested in "health and wellness," the area may offer spas, yoga studios, or other related services, though specific details are not provided in the reviews.
One important consideration for RV travelers, particularly those with larger rigs, is the campground's accessibility. A reviewer notes that "if you have a big rig, the entrance and turn-around are a bit tight." This is valuable information for local users with larger RVs to be aware of when planning their visit. It might be prudent to contact Carl or Cheryl directly to discuss the suitability of the campground for your specific vehicle size.
Despite being a smaller campground, Grateful Flats seems to be continuously improving. The review mentions that it is "in constant process of getting better by the day," indicating a commitment from the operators to enhance the guest experience and the facilities. This dedication to ongoing improvement is a positive sign for prospective visitors.
The pricing mentioned in one review, $20 per night, is remarkably affordable, especially considering the personalized service and convenient location. While this price may have been from a specific time, it suggests that Grateful Flats aims to offer value for money. Local users looking for budget-friendly "RV parks near me" should inquire about current rates when contacting the campground.
In summary, Grateful Flats RV and Campground offers a unique blend of small-town charm, personal service, and convenient access to the natural beauty and local attractions of Crawford, Colorado. While it may not have all the extensive amenities of a larger resort-style RV park, its intimate atmosphere and the dedication of its operators, Carl and Cheryl, appear to create a welcoming and memorable experience for many visitors. The availability of RV sites with water and electricity, tent sites, and unique cabin and yurt rentals provides options for various types of travelers.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" who appreciate a more personal and community-oriented experience, Grateful Flats RV and Campground is definitely worth considering. Dec 03, 2023 · Ian Oeser (IO)Carl and Cheryl have a bit of property and have carved out a couple of RV sites with water and electricity (as of this writing no sewer hook-up yet, but there is a free dump just west of Hotchkiss). I give this a 5-star rating; not because this is the taj mahal of RV parks but rather because it is small and personal. Carl and Cheryl will treat you like family. They watched my dog for me while I did a wine tour. They are just great folks to talk to and only charge $20/night. If you need to go to downtown Crawford, it's only a block away. Right off the highway. Note: If you have a big rig, the entrance and turn-around are a bit tight.
