Uncompahgre River RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Olathe, Colorado region? Uncompahgre River RV Park, located at 804 S Church Ave, Olathe, CO 81425, USA, presents itself as a potential option for travelers seeking a basecamp to explore the surrounding area. With a phone number of (970) 323-8706 or +1 970-323-8706, it invites inquiries from those looking for RV accommodations. However, online reviews present a mixed picture, and it's crucial for local users to consider both the positive and negative feedback to make an informed decision.
One positive review from a visitor who stayed for a week in their 37' fifth wheel highlights several appealing aspects of Uncompahgre River RV Park. They "loved this campground," describing it as "quiet with the river flowing behind our site." The presence of "concrete pad" sites and "easy full hook-ups" (presumably water, electricity, and sewer) are noted as conveniences. Furthermore, the reviewer found the "laundry and bathroom facilities are spotless" and the overall "campground was clean and well maintained." The helpfulness of "Mark" in providing recommendations for local activities and sights was also appreciated, suggesting that the park can serve as a "great base camp for a week of day trips" to the surrounding attractions. This positive experience led the reviewer to thoroughly enjoy their stay and express a desire to return.
In contrast, another review offers a significantly less favorable perspective, assigning only one star despite acknowledging "nice sites, well maintained common, laundry and bath areas." This suggests that while some fundamental aspects of the park are satisfactory, significant drawbacks exist. The reviewer deducts four stars based on several concerns.
One major point of contention is the discrepancy regarding the park's advertised demographic. The website allegedly claims "for adults over 50," but the reviewer's "observation says 'not'." This inconsistency could be a significant factor for local users specifically seeking an age-restricted environment for peace and quiet. It's advisable to verify the current age restrictions directly with the management.
The reviewer also mentions "unfinished areas and buildings are unkept," which could detract from the overall aesthetic appeal and potentially raise concerns about the management's attention to detail beyond the immediate RV sites and common areas. The functionality of essential services also comes under scrutiny, with "WIFI weak, no streaming" and "Cable ok, when working" being noted. In today's connected world, reliable internet and cable can be important amenities for many travelers.
Environmental concerns are also raised in the negative review. A "mosquito infested pond stinks and water from sprinklers stink" paints an unpleasant picture of some of the on-site water features. Additionally, the "Huge Cottonwood trees only trimmed by Mother Nature" could imply potential issues with falling branches or excessive debris. The reviewer also describes the "River not much wider than a ditch and is contaminated with farm run off....poor for fishing," directly contradicting the potential appeal of a riverfront location for anglers. Finally, the issue of being "Very dusty from farm field in park" could impact the comfort and cleanliness of the RV sites and outdoor areas.
Perhaps the most concerning aspect of the negative review is the feedback regarding the management. The reviewer found the management to be "consistently callow, capricious and contentious" and reported feeling "unwelcome." Such negative interactions with management can significantly impact a visitor's overall experience and sense of comfort and security. This led the reviewer to shorten their stay and express no intention of returning to the area.
Considering these contrasting reviews, local users searching for "RV parks near me" should approach Uncompahgre River RV Park with caution and a willingness to conduct further investigation. The positive review highlights the quiet atmosphere, clean facilities, and helpful staff (specifically mentioning Mark). These are undoubtedly attractive features. The negative review, however, raises serious concerns about the accuracy of the website's claims, the upkeep of certain areas, the reliability of amenities, environmental issues, and, most notably, the perceived negative attitude of the management.
Before making a decision, it would be prudent for local users to contact Uncompahgre River RV Park directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current age restrictions, the status of any unfinished areas, the reliability of the WIFI and cable services, and the condition of the pond and river. It might also be beneficial to ask about any measures taken to address the dust from the nearby farm field and the trimming of the cottonwood trees.
Furthermore, if possible, a visit to the campground to personally assess the environment and the condition of the facilities could be invaluable. Observing the atmosphere and potentially speaking with current residents (if feasible) could provide a more balanced perspective beyond the online reviews. Asking specific questions about the management's responsiveness and the overall community feel could also be insightful.
Given the lack of specific promotional information in the provided data, local users should inquire directly with the park management about any current special offers, discounts for local residents, or long-term stay rates if applicable. Understanding the full cost and value proposition is essential in making an informed decision.
In conclusion, Uncompahgre River RV Park in Olathe, Colorado, presents a mixed bag based on the available online reviews. While some visitors have appreciated its quiet location, clean facilities, and helpful staff, others have raised significant concerns regarding discrepancies in advertised information, the upkeep of certain areas, unreliable amenities, environmental issues, and negative interactions with management. Local users searching for "RV parks near me" should carefully weigh these contrasting perspectives and conduct their own due diligence before choosing Uncompahgre River RV Park as their destination. Direct communication with the park management and a potential site visit are highly recommended to ensure it meets your specific needs and expectations.

Oct 05, 2024 · Google EyesMy husband and I stayed here in our new 2024 5th Wheel Montana 44ft for our 25th wedding anniversary. Such a nice peaceful spot. Quiet, sites are concrete with porch area. Easy full hook up. Uncompahgre River creek flows thru and you can sit by it. Paths you can walk along the creek and woods! We joined rv camp fire circle and visited with owner, manager, other and it was so nice. A mule deer just passed thru right beside us going down to the creek. Fun to watch Mark the owner fly his own parachute plane. 55+ park and no worries of a ball bouncing off your rig. 😁🥰. We stayed a month and it was hard to leave. Just feels like home! And Delta is very close to go too or just a little farther to Montrose and has just about anything you can think of. Excellent spot to enjoy nice and quiet RV to park at!!!!! I highly recommend and hope to go back soon. I have a good day and
Apr 27, 2024 · Delena NelsonReally enjoyed our stay at this 50+ RV park. Our site was spacious, gravel with concrete pad and full hookups. Such a peaceful, quiet setting. The nature trail along the river was a great place to get my daily walks in or just enjoy the sounds of the river and nature.Less than 35 miles from a State and National Park. Full trees for shade or open sites as well. Big rig friendly.Check out Morrow Point Dam while you are there and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Situated in the small town of Olathe just 20 minutes from Delta or Montrose either direction.
Jul 07, 2023 · Our Mobile JourneyExcellent park -- quiet, spacious, beautiful, shady and green. We have stayed at parks all over the Mountain West and this is the best we have ever found. We were planning on staying 1 night and ended up staying 5 nights. Checked out others, but returned here and used it as our base to explore the area. Great hosts, off the highway -- so quiet. Nice walks with your dog along the river. The sites are nicely spaced apart and the park abounds with large shade trees.
