Frosty Acres Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Schenectady, New York area and those searching online for "camping near me," Frosty Acres Campground, located at 1560 Skyline Dr, Schenectady, NY 12306, offers a camping experience with notable scenic views and reportedly reasonable pricing. You can contact them at (518) 864-5352 or +1 518-864-5352 for inquiries and bookings. Based on the available customer reviews, Frosty Acres Campground presents a mix of appealing features and some considerations for prospective visitors.
The environment of Frosty Acres Campground is a significant highlight, particularly the location of its pool. Situated on the top of a hill, the pool area boasts truly amazing views of the mountains in the background, offering a picturesque setting for relaxation and recreation. This elevated position seems to be a key draw for visitors seeking a visually appealing camping destination. However, the topography of the campground also plays a role in the layout of the campsites. The reviews suggest that the sites offering only power and water are also located on the top of the property. It's important to note that some of these hilltop sites are described as being small, which might be a consideration for campers with larger rigs or those desiring more space.
The campground appears to cater to both short-term visitors and those looking for more permanent arrangements. There is mention of seasonal sites, and one reviewer found the pricing for these to be extremely reasonable compared to other campgrounds they had heard about. This suggests that Frosty Acres Campground might be an attractive option for local campers looking for a longer-term camping solution. Additionally, for those considering seasonal stays, the campground offers the convenience of winter camper storage for a small deposit, adding to the value for seasonal campers.
In terms of services and features, the presence of a pool with stunning mountain views is a notable amenity. This likely serves as a central point for recreation and relaxation during the camping season. While other specific amenities are not detailed in the reviews, one can typically expect a campground to offer basic services such as restroom and shower facilities, although their condition and accessibility are not mentioned. The availability of power and water hookups is confirmed for some sites on the top of the hill, but the hookup options for other areas of the campground are not specified. The mention of permanent sites suggests that the campground likely has infrastructure to support longer-term stays, potentially including more comprehensive hookups at those locations.
One of the customer reviews offers a cautionary note regarding the campsites on the top of the hill, describing them as "very cramped." This suggests that if you are looking for a site with more space, particularly if you only require power and water, it might be beneficial to inquire specifically about the size and layout of these sites or, as one reviewer wisely suggests, to do a tour of the sites before booking. The same review also points out that many of the hilltop sites appear to be permanent, with residents tending to have a significant amount of personal belongings around their campsites, which might affect the overall aesthetic of the area for short-term visitors.
In contrast, a different experience was reported from a site "down the bottom" of the campground. In this area, the reviewer's neighbor had a permanent site and also had accumulated many personal items. While the neighbor was not described as inconsiderate, the reviewer noted that their "backyard" (the front yard of the visitor's site) was not a very pleasant view due to the clutter. This indicates that the prevalence of permanent sites and the way these sites are maintained by their occupants could be a factor influencing the overall camping experience in different areas of the campground.
Despite these concerns about site size and the appearance of some permanent sites, one reviewer expressed an overwhelmingly positive experience, stating they had "nothing but great things to say" and that Frosty Acres would be their first choice for future camping. The reasonable pricing was also highlighted as a significant advantage compared to other campgrounds in the area. This positive feedback, coupled with the appealing hilltop pool and the availability of affordable seasonal sites and winter storage, suggests that Frosty Acres Campground has much to offer, particularly for those who prioritize scenic views and cost-effectiveness.
Promotional information is somewhat implicit in the positive review that mentions reasonable prices for both short-term and seasonal stays, as well as the winter storage option. This suggests that Frosty Acres Campground positions itself as an affordable choice for local campers. The stunning view from the pool could also be considered a key promotional point, attracting visitors seeking a visually appealing camping destination. However, prospective campers should be aware of the potential for smaller sites on the hilltop and the aesthetic considerations related to the permanent sites in some areas, as mentioned in the other review.
In conclusion, Frosty Acres Campground near Schenectady, NY, offers a camping experience characterized by its scenic hilltop pool with mountain views and reportedly reasonable prices. It caters to both short-term and seasonal campers, with the added convenience of winter storage for seasonal guests. While one reviewer found the hilltop sites with power and water to be small and noted the cluttered appearance of some permanent sites, another had an overwhelmingly positive experience. Local users searching for "camping near me" should consider visiting Frosty Acres Campground for its appealing views and affordability but may want to take a tour of the available sites, especially if specific size or aesthetic preferences are important to them, before making a booking.

Frosty Acres Campground Reviews
I honestly have nothing but great things to say about this campground! One of my favorite things about this campground was the location of the pool and the view that it offers. It sits on top of a hill and the view of the mountains in the background are truly amazing. The only thing I would say if you are visiting is to do a tour of the sites if you just want power and water. Those sites sit on the top of the property and some seemed to be small. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this place before but it will be our first choice in the future. The price was very reasonable compared to other campgrounds. We stayed 3 nights and are already looking forward to our next booking and even considering doing a seasonal site. The price for that was extremely reasonable compared to what I heard other people are paying. With a small deposit, you can even store your camper over the winter there.Well done Frosty Acres, well done.
Jul 21, 2024 · Daniel SalaCampsites on top of the hill is very cramped. They seem to be a lot permanent sites and the families tend to bring everything they own as there's stuff all over. We were down the bottom and our neighbor had a permanent site and they obviously bought everything. They own many ladders, mini laundry, baskets, tables, fishing poles, coolers, etc. But they were not considerate to their neighbor as their backyard was our front yard and it wasn't a very pleasant site to look at the week we were there
Jul 20, 2024 · Sheila JohnsonBeen coming here for over 15 years, it’s very close to our house so if we forget something it’s not far to grab stuff we need. Great neighbors and fun things to do with other campers. We have a great family atmosphere here. Always someone willing to lend a hand. Potlucks are always a great Saturday tradition. Very relaxing place to come and unwind. 😁
Jun 17, 2023 · Adam HornyakWe pulled into Frosty Acres with a broken transmission line. 6/26/2024. Theresa, The lady working in the office was so very helpful. Sent a very nice man to pick up our parts. Without her we would have had to call a tow truck.
