Hide-A-Way Campsites Reviews
Very pretty campground, quiet, small and well kept. Nicely cared for and maintained pool, and a fishing pond down a little walking path. Kim and Paul are very pleasant and helpful campground owners. Camp store has essentials if you forgot something or just need a treat! A lot of seasonal campers, who are all very inviting and welcoming. Close to areas to explore, if you’re an adventurer. Come strangers and leave with new friends!
Aug 08, 2024 · Kristyn DWe stayed for a night passing through on our trip. The owners are very nice. The grounds are very well taken care of. Pool area is very clean and freshly painted. Cute camp store. The playground was a hit with our 5 year old daughter!
Jul 26, 2024 · Robin PalmerI cannot recommend this campground enough!! If you are looking for a well-kept, quiet campground - this is your place! I was there for 3 weeks with my son and felt very safe. The owners Kim & Paul are very nice people who clearly love what they do.
Sep 16, 2024 · Amy RandellWe enjoyed Hideaway very much, until the ownership changed. Since the new male owner took over, the atmosphere has changed, drastically, for the worse. The last straw was an incident that occurred Memorial Day weekend, as we began our third summer as seasonal campers under the new ownership. To get to our site, my wife had to slowly pass around a camper that was stopped alongside the campsite road. She didn't know how long they were going to be stopped there, and no one directed her. As she reached our site, the male owner zipped up to her car in his golf cart and before she could get out, he sarcastically said, "You couldn't wait FIVE MINUTES?" He was very concerned about his grass, which showed no damage from her tires. She reacted to him sarcastically, as he had done to her. She must have hit his "button," because then he started to yell at her. She closed her car window and covered her face. He continued to menace her, yelling at her while going from side to side around the car. She sat in the car, afraid to do anything. He left; my neighbor, who had witnessed everything, asked if she was alright. I then arrived, and the male owner came back. I asked him for an apology for his behavior toward my wife. Instead, he continued to berate us during the ensuing discussion and stated that he wanted us out of the park by the end of the week. He stated that he would not give us a refund and said that he could have our camper removed (He did eventually give us back approximately 55% of our money back, but kept the rest). We pulled out the next morning. Per several veteran campers, the male owner is known for having a history of run-ins with people who he deems to be troublesome . He has no problem targeting women in particular. It is my opinion and recommendation not to stay at Hideaway Campground. I believe that the male owner has a potential to be dangerous, as he can appear friendly at first and has a nice smile, but he will turn on you. He is prone to sudden and unpredictable mood swings and uncontrollable fits of rage. This man should not be trusted with anyone's family's safety and security.Kevin and Madeline Henry
Jun 30, 2024 · Kevin HenryWe needed a one night stay for a road trip to Buffalo in a rented RV. The owners were friendly, accommodating, and so helpful with the camper setup. The grounds were clean, well kept, and the RV site was perfect. It would be my choice to stay for a few more nights if we pass through again.
