The campground's location provides excellent access to the attractions of Placerville and the wider El Dorado County. As one reviewer noted, it is "quite and close to old Nauvoo," referring to the nearby historical significance and charm of the area. The natural environment at Camp Nauvoo itself is conducive to relaxation and reconnecting with nature, with ample space for outdoor activities and a quiet ambiance.
The climate in Placerville is typical of the Sierra Nevada foothills, with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This allows for a long camping season, though the spring and fall are often considered ideal for comfortable outdoor activities. The specific natural features of the campground, such as trees and open spaces, contribute to a pleasant camping experience, providing shade and a sense of seclusion.
Camp Nauvoo prides itself on offering a wide range of services and features designed to enhance the camping experience for all types of visitors, from traditional tent campers to RV enthusiasts and those seeking a more luxurious "glamping" experience. The facilities are consistently described as "clean" and "well-maintained," reflecting a commitment to guest comfort and satisfaction.
Key services and features include:
- Full Hookups for RVs: A significant draw for RV campers, Camp Nauvoo provides "full hookups," which typically include electricity, water, and sewer connections. This convenience allows RVers to enjoy all the comforts of home while immersed in nature. The "pull through easy in and out" design of the RV sites further enhances accessibility and convenience for larger vehicles.
- Laundry Facilities: The availability of "laundry" on-site is a highly appreciated amenity, especially for those on longer camping trips, allowing campers to refresh their clothing without leaving the campground.
- Diverse Accommodation Options: While traditional tent camping is clearly supported, the reviews also hint at diverse accommodation. One reviewer mentioned, "Our tent was just perfect," suggesting well-maintained tent sites. Beyond this, Camp Nauvoo also offers "Glamping Tents" – these are pre-set, luxurious canvas tents designed for comfort, complete with proper beds, comfortable bedding, and heating. This option appeals to those who desire the outdoor experience without the hassle of pitching a tent or bringing extensive gear.
- Recreational Areas: The campground boasts a "play area for kids and adults." While specific details about the types of play equipment or adult activities are not always elaborated, this indicates a family-friendly environment with spaces for recreation and entertainment within the campground premises.
- Exceptional Hospitality: This is arguably one of Camp Nauvoo's most outstanding features, repeatedly highlighted in customer reviews. Both the "camp host, Dawn," and "Greg, the camp's owner," receive immense praise for their "amazing" and "exceptional" hospitality. Examples include surprising kids with birthday cake and even providing bait for fishing. This level of personalized care and attention to detail goes "above and beyond to make our stay memorable," fostering a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Such personal touches significantly enhance the overall camping experience and contribute to high guest satisfaction.
- Fishing Opportunities: The mention of Greg getting "bait for fishing" implies that there are opportunities for fishing nearby, either within the campground's immediate vicinity or at accessible local spots, adding another recreational activity for campers.
Camp Nauvoo's promotional appeal as a premier "Camping Near Me" destination in the Placerville area stems from its combination of natural beauty, well-maintained facilities, and, most importantly, its renowned customer service. The consistent theme of "amazing host" and "exceptional hospitality" is a powerful draw, suggesting that visitors can expect a warm welcome and a supportive environment for their outdoor adventure. This personal touch differentiates Camp Nauvoo from larger, more impersonal campgrounds.
While specific price points for different types of sites (RV, tent, glamping) are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the focus on value and enjoyable experiences suggests that the pricing is perceived as fair for the quality of services rendered. The "We can't wait to come back!" sentiment expressed by multiple reviewers is a strong indicator of high satisfaction and repeat visitation, which is the best form of promotion for any campground.

We camped for several days and loved it. Quite and close to old Nauvoo. Dawn, camp host, was amazing and lots of great information about area. I would give it a 10 as well as Dawn. Full hookups and laundry. Pull through easy in and out. Play area for kids and adults. Will come again. Nauvoo was much more than we could have dreamed.

Greg, the camp's owner, was an exceptional host who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He surprised our two kids with a delicious cake for their birthday and even got us bait for fishing. The campsite itself was clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by natural beauty. Our tent was just perfect, and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. Greg's hospitality was truly unmatched, and his attention to detail made our stay that much more enjoyable. If you're looking for a great camping experience, we highly recommend Camp Nauvoo. Apr 17, 2023 · Fadi OWe had the pleasure of filming aerials of this beautiful property. Greg and Laurie (husband and wife) who run this place were great to collaborate with. Camp Nauvoo is a wonderful camp spot in the Gold Country for people who like simple camping. We loved seeing this hidden gem from the air! 🏕
Sep 09, 2023 · Virtual Tour MapsFabulous! My daughter was married last weekend at Camp Nauvoo. She wanted, and got, a wedding venue where her friends and family could meet and get reacquainted over 3 days. Approximately 80 of her friends camped on site, in a variety of tent cabins, teepees and flat ground. A stream goes through the center of camp and the sound, late at night, is magical. The kitchen is very close to a commercial kitchen, with large fridge and freezer space and a huge cold room. The grounds are so, so, so well maintained and there are showers with hot water. Greg and his wife, Laurie, run the camp and are meticulous. The wedding was a huge success and everyone is exhausted from 3 days on celebration. And we all wish we could go to Camp Nauvoo next weekend and do it again.
May 11, 2022 · Bill GeggA hidden gem in Placerville. Very clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by natural beauty. Run by a lovely husband-wife team. There's a beautiful meadow with a creek running through it, great amenities, and different style lodging from cabins to glamping tents. A perfect place for those who love the outdoors. 🌲
