Camp York Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience in Blacksburg, South Carolina? Camp York, located on Fire Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702, USA, offers a camping location that at least one visitor described as having a "great view and feel." This suggests that the natural environment of Camp York might be a significant draw for those seeking an outdoor getaway. However, it's important to consider the full spectrum of feedback to get a balanced understanding of what this campground offers.
One of the highlighted positive aspects of Camp York is its "lake area," which a reviewer found to be "very pretty." This suggests that the presence of a lake contributes to the scenic beauty of the campground and may offer opportunities for water-related activities, although these are not specified. For those who enjoy lakeside camping, the presence of a pretty lake could be a significant feature.
In contrast to the positive comments about the overall camping location and the lake, a reviewer expressed significant concerns about the condition of the cabins at Camp York. They described the cabins as "really disgusting," noting that while they might be what one would expect at an older campground, several had issues such as "holes in the screens or doors that won't shut." These structural problems reportedly led to wildlife encounters inside the cabins, with one instance of a raccoon entering a cabin and another of a snake. This feedback indicates that the cabins may not provide a secure or comfortable lodging option for all visitors.
The same reviewer also commented on the cleanliness of the bathrooms, stating that they "were not clean and had an inch of mud on the floor" upon arrival. This suggests that the upkeep of the communal bathroom facilities might be an area of concern for potential campers. Clean and well-maintained restrooms are often a crucial factor in the overall camping experience, and this review points to a potential deficiency at Camp York.
On a more positive note, the reviewer found the "mess hall" to be "fine." This suggests that if Camp York has a communal dining or gathering space, it meets a basic level of acceptability. This could be a useful facility for groups or for campers who prefer not to cook entirely at their campsites.
Based on this information, the environment of Camp York seems to have appealing aspects, particularly the lake area, which is described as pretty, and the overall "view and feel" of the camping location, which was deemed great by one visitor. This suggests that the natural setting of the campground could be attractive to those seeking a "camping near me" experience with scenic beauty.
However, the services and features appear to be a mixed bag. While there might be a mess hall that is adequate, the condition of the cabins seems to be a significant drawback, with reported issues of disrepair and wildlife intrusion. Additionally, the cleanliness of the bathrooms was explicitly criticized. The availability of other typical campground amenities, such as tent sites, RV hookups, fire pits, picnic tables, etc., is not mentioned in the provided review, so we cannot comment on these aspects based solely on this information.
There is no promotional information provided in the text. Therefore, we cannot discuss any special offers or reasons to choose Camp York based on promotional material. Potential visitors would need to weigh the positive aspects of the location's natural beauty against the reported issues with the cabins and bathroom cleanliness.
For local users considering "camping near me" and looking at Camp York in Blacksburg, SC, it's essential to be aware of both the positive and negative feedback. The campground seems to offer a scenic environment, particularly around the lake, which could be appealing. However, those considering cabin rentals should be aware of the reported issues with their condition and potential for wildlife to enter. Tent campers or RVers might have a different experience, but the cleanliness of the shared facilities appears to be a general concern raised by at least one visitor.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of Camp York, potential visitors might want to seek out additional reviews or contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (803) 222-3209 or +1 803-222-3209. Asking specific questions about the current condition of the cabins and the cleanliness protocols for the bathrooms would be advisable before making a reservation. Despite the positive note about the "great camping location with view and feel," the negative feedback regarding the accommodations and facilities should be taken into consideration.

Camp York Reviews
Great camping location with view and feel.
Jan 14, 2024 · Joey ChenCabins are really disgusting. I guess they're about what you would expect at an older campground but lots of the cabins have holes in the screens or doors that won't shut. While there a raccoon got in one cabin and a snake in another. The lake area is very pretty and the mess hall is fine. Bathrooms were not clean and had an inch of mud on the floor when we got there.
Jun 26, 2019 · Courtney GordonFond memories here. It's lovely being by the lake, the lodge can accommodate large groups and has the kitchen soace to prep great big meals. We have a large group that goes here every year and we have a fire that lasts all weekend. The cabins are really just shacks/ shelters but having a roof and a door and a cot makes camping much easier especially if you have kids. I think I'll always have fond memories here but it really is a good campground.
Apr 21, 2019 · ArronnaxGreat group camp. Air conditioned great hall. Pretty surroundings. Some of the cabins are pretty sketchy, and the bathroom facilities are laughable. Run down and inadequate for the number of people the cabins hold. If you don't handle icky bathrooms, avoid this place. Otherwise very nice.
May 27, 2018 · KenStein87Beautiful, rustic campground with about 30 cabins split into 3 sections. There is a nearby lake that is fish-able and swim-able, with no danger of sharks or alligators. There is a central mess hall amd bathhouse, and each section has a restroom building. Totally chill area, worth checking out! Can be reserved for the weekends.
