Look no further than Castle Island Camps, located at 441 Castle Island Rd, Belgrade, ME 04917, USA. You can reach them at (207) 495-3312 or +1 207-495-3312. Based on glowing customer reviews, Castle Island Camps offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Belgrade Lakes region, with a focus on relaxation, delicious food, and a welcoming, family-run atmosphere.
The environment of Castle Island Camps is truly its standout feature. As one enthusiastic reviewer stated, "You can't get closer to the water than Castle Island camps." This immediately paints a picture of a campground deeply integrated with the surrounding lake, offering breathtaking waterfront views and immediate access for various water-related activities. Situated on what the name suggests is an island or a peninsula with an island feel, the camp likely provides a sense of seclusion and tranquility, surrounded by the pristine waters of the Belgrade Lakes. This "water, peace and quiet" combination is repeatedly highlighted as a key draw for visitors seeking a genuine escape.
While described by one reviewer as a "fishing camp," Castle Island Camps clearly offers much more than just angling opportunities. The same reviewer, who doesn't fish, recounted having "the most relaxing vacation" there. This suggests that the camp's appeal extends to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in a beautiful natural setting. The focus on the waterfront environment makes it ideal for swimming, boating (if permitted or accessible nearby), and simply enjoying the serene views and sounds of the lake.
The services provided at Castle Island Camps appear to go above and beyond typical campground offerings. A significant highlight is that "They feed you delicious meals," indicating an all-inclusive or meal-plan option that takes the hassle out of cooking during your vacation. This allows guests to fully relax and enjoy their surroundings without the need to prepare food. Additionally, "Housekeeping" is mentioned, suggesting a level of service akin to a lodge or a cabin rental where the upkeep of your accommodation is taken care of. These services contribute to the overall feeling of a "super all around experience" where guests can truly unwind and be catered to.
A notable feature of Castle Island Camps is its devoted clientele of "repeat customers." This speaks volumes about the quality of the experience offered, fostering a sense of community and indicating a high level of guest satisfaction over the years. The fact that families have been returning for generations, as mentioned in one review ("My Parents have come to for years. I am now here with just my Dad..."), underscores the enduring appeal and the strong relationships built between the camp and its visitors. This loyalty suggests a consistent level of service, a welcoming atmosphere, and an environment that people cherish and want to return to year after year.
The atmosphere at Castle Island Camps is described as perfect "for those that don't need someone to entertain them." This implies a focus on the natural environment and the opportunities for self-directed relaxation and enjoyment. While organized activities might be limited, the inherent beauty of the location and the provided amenities encourage a peaceful and independent experience. For those who appreciate solitude, natural beauty, and a slower pace of life, Castle Island Camps seems to be an ideal destination.
The owners of Castle Island Camps are lauded as "super hosts" by a reviewer. This personal touch and dedication from the hosts likely contribute significantly to the positive guest experience, creating a welcoming and caring environment. The family-run nature of the camp, as suggested by one reviewer's multi-generational connection, often translates to a more personal and attentive level of service.
While one reviewer playfully notes, "Of course, you probably can't get in," this hints at the camp's popularity and potentially limited availability, especially during peak seasons. This underscores the importance of planning ahead and booking in advance if you are interested in experiencing Castle Island Camps. However, the same reviewer emphasizes that "if you can, and you love water, peace and quiet and feel like you don't want to cook, it's the place to vacation." This serves as a strong recommendation for those whose preferences align with the camp's offerings.
For those who enjoy fishing, the camp's identity as a "fishing camp" suggests excellent opportunities for angling in the Belgrade Lakes. However, as highlighted by a non-fishing guest, the appeal extends far beyond just fishing. The beautiful setting and the provided services cater to a broader audience seeking a relaxing waterfront getaway.
In summary, Castle Island Camps offers a unique "camping near me" experience in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. Its unparalleled waterfront location, coupled with the provision of delicious meals and housekeeping, sets it apart from traditional campgrounds. The peaceful and quiet environment, the welcoming atmosphere fostered by the "super hosts," and the loyalty of repeat customers all point to a truly special retreat. While availability might be limited due to its popularity, for those seeking a relaxing, water-centric vacation where the cooking is taken care of, Castle Island Camps appears to be an exceptional choice. Contact them at (207) 495-3312 or +1 207-495-3312 to inquire about availability and experience the charm of this Belgrade gem.

Castle Island Camps Reviews
You can't get closer to the water than Castle Island camps. Just finished my week on the island. Grew up less than 5 miles from camp. Always thought "who would stay there? Camps are so small". It is a fishing camp, but I don't fish. And my friend and I had the most relaxing vacation. They feed you delicious meals. Housekeeping. Their clientele are devoted repeat customers. Just a super all around experience for those that don't need someone to entertain them. Of course, you probably can't get in. But if you can, and you love water, peace and quiet and feel like you don't want to cook, it's the place to vacation. And you could fish too if that's your thing. Owners super hosts.
Aug 24, 2024 · Brenda BergerThis is a beautiful fishing camp My Parents have come to for years. I am now here with just my Dad , to celebrate my Mother's life. And our memories of her. The Family and Staff are wonderful.
Sep 01, 2024 · Nettie ZernA place to remember. John, Rhonda and family make you feel so welcomed. Simple accommodations and great family food. There is a reason generations keep coming back to this treasure. Thank you for another great summer memory.
Aug 03, 2024 · Kate MeredithJohn, Rhonda and staff are wonderful hosts. Castle Island Camps is a place that is stress free, relaxing and beautiful. A place where strangers meet and depart as friends.
Aug 22, 2024 · Linda NemcickI have been to this wonderful playground now for the last 3 years. My family has been going since 2011. It is a great family get away. It is a place for the modern family to get away from all the business of today's world. You can unplug and do some family fun, like fishing, swimming, canoeing and boating. And to top things off, you get home cooked meals everyday.
