Cedar Pond Campground Introduce
For local organizations and large groups searching for dedicated "camping near me" facilities, Cedar Pond Campground, nestled in the scenic region of Southfields, New York, presents an excellent option. Located at Cedar Pond, Southfields, NY 10975, USA, Cedar Pond Campground is specifically designed for group camping, as highlighted by a reviewer stating, "It is for group camping only." This focus makes it particularly well-suited for organizations such as scout troops and church groups looking for a spacious and accommodating outdoor setting for their activities. The positive feedback regarding its suitability for larger groups, such as "Plenty of room for our scout troop," underscores its capacity to handle sizable camping parties.
Situated in Southfields, New York, Cedar Pond Campground likely benefits from the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Southfields is located within the Ramapo Mountains, known for their picturesque landscapes, dense woodlands, and numerous lakes and ponds. Campers can anticipate an environment characterized by lush forests, potentially offering opportunities for hiking, nature walks, and exploring the local flora and fauna. The presence of Cedar Pond itself suggests the possibility of water-related activities, although the reviews do not explicitly mention swimming or boating. The overall setting is likely to provide a tranquil and immersive outdoor experience away from the urban bustle.
One of the key features emphasized in the reviews is the campground's specific focus on group camping. This suggests that the facilities and layout are tailored to accommodate larger numbers of people camping together. This might include larger campsites capable of hosting multiple tents, communal areas for group activities and gatherings, and potentially designated spaces for group cooking or campfires. The positive experience reported by a scout troop indicates that the campground can comfortably handle the logistical needs of larger organizations.
An important aspect highlighted by a reviewer is the security and safety protocols in place at Cedar Pond Campground, particularly due to the presence of "lots of children (church groups, scout troops)." The reviewer notes that "the people in charge are on a lookout for new people entering the place" and emphasizes the necessity to "register your vehicle at the circle!" This registration requirement is a crucial piece of information for any group planning to camp here, indicating a focus on monitoring who enters and exits the campground, likely to ensure the safety and well-being of the children present.
Another significant piece of advice from a reviewer concerns wildlife safety: "Food must be kept (in vehicle) after dinner to avoid visitors (bears, racoons, etc)." This is a critical guideline for camping in many natural areas, especially those with wildlife populations. Proper food storage is essential to prevent attracting animals to the campsites, ensuring the safety of campers and the wildlife itself. This rule suggests that Cedar Pond Campground is located in an area where encounters with animals like bears and raccoons are possible, and campers must take precautions.
Despite a potential challenge with their online presence ("Call the number if you cannot navigate the confusing website"), the reviewer ultimately "recommend the place," indicating a positive overall experience despite any website usability issues. The provision of phone numbers, (845) 947-2444 and +1 845-947-2444, is therefore crucial for local users interested in booking or inquiring about Cedar Pond Campground. Calling these numbers would be the best way to get accurate information about availability, group size limits, specific amenities, reservation procedures, and any other essential details.
While the reviews provide valuable insights into the group-oriented nature of the campground, the focus on safety and wildlife precautions, and a potential issue with website navigation, they do not offer specific details about other amenities that might be available. It is reasonable to assume that basic camping facilities such as restrooms and access to water are provided, but the type and quality of these amenities would need to be confirmed by contacting the campground directly. Given the emphasis on group camping, there might also be features like communal fire pits or picnic areas designed for larger gatherings.
As there is no promotional information included in the provided text, local users should inquire about any potential group rates, seasonal discounts, or special offers when contacting Cedar Pond Campground via the phone numbers provided. It is also advisable to book well in advance, especially during peak camping seasons, to secure a spot for your group.
In conclusion, Cedar Pond Campground in Southfields, NY, offers a dedicated and recommended "camping near me" option specifically for group camping, particularly well-suited for organizations like scout troops and church groups. Key aspects to note include the exclusive focus on group camping, the emphasis on registering vehicles for security, the crucial guideline for proper food storage to avoid wildlife encounters, and the recommendation to call the provided phone numbers for booking and information due to potential website navigation issues. While details on specific amenities are limited, the positive reviews from group leaders suggest a well-suited environment for large camping parties. Local organizations planning a group camping trip should definitely consider contacting Cedar Pond Campground for their next outdoor adventure.

Cedar Pond Campground Reviews
Great camping spot. Plenty of room for our scout troop.
Sep 19, 2020 · Kris KellyThis is a good place. It is for group camping only and as it involves lots of children (church groups, scout troops,) the people in charge are on a lookout for new people entering the place. You must register your vehicle at the circle! Food must be kept (in vehicle) after dinner to avoid visitors (bears, racoons, etc). I recommend the place. Call the number if you cannot navigate the confusing website.
Jun 13, 2021 · Christian RaybaudYou need a reservation to get in with your car and park there. Nice place, but not a 5 star because of all that struggle with reservation. We got there for few hours just to swim and chill, and we had to park car far away and take a walk.
