Cedar Valley Campground

3757 Weaver Rd, Comins, MI 48619, USA

4.0
We have been going to Cedar Valley campground for years, this was our last time. Our fire pit was full of trash and there was dog poop on our site upon arrival. Rude campers all around our site. Adults and kids walking through our site. Constant balls being kicked onto our site and under our camper. There was a dog that wasn't being watched on the site next to ours, on a cable that reached our camper door, and it growled and lunged at my senior lab. The office was notified but did nothing to prevent further incidents. We've never had these issues prior and its quite disappointing. It seemed that the campground was full of locals that are friends with the camp host, so nothing was done, and the campers continued to make rude comments and not control their children whatsoever. Don't go to this campground if you plan on having an enjoyable camping experience. - Sam P

Cedar Valley Campground Introduce

Are you a local resident in search of "camping near me" that offers a unique blend of outdoor accommodation and amusement park attractions? Cedar Valley Campground, located at 3757 Weaver Rd in Comins, Michigan, presents an intriguing option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a range of features, including traditional campsites, cabin rentals, and access to a small amusement park with various recreational activities. However, it's important for local users to consider both the positive aspects and the reported negative experiences when evaluating this "camping near me" destination.

One reviewer described Cedar Valley Campground as a "cool little campground with a decent, small amusing park." This suggests that beyond the typical camping amenities, the campground boasts attractions that can enhance the stay, particularly for families with children. The specific mention of a "roller coaster!" is a significant and unusual feature for a campground, indicating a unique entertainment offering that could be a major draw for local users seeking a fun-filled "camping near me" experience.

In addition to the roller coaster, the campground also features "mini golf and a pool, with a very big hot tub next to it." These recreational facilities provide further opportunities for entertainment and relaxation for guests of all ages. The presence of a pool and hot tub can be particularly appealing during the summer months, offering a way to cool off and unwind. The mini golf course adds another element of family fun to the "camping near me" experience at Cedar Valley Campground.

The same reviewer also provided information about the seasonal availability of these amusement features, noting that "All of that stuff closes after Labor day, fyi." This is crucial information for local users planning a visit, as the availability of the roller coaster, mini golf, pool, and hot tub is limited to the period before Labor Day. Those considering a stay outside of this timeframe should be aware that these attractions will not be operational.

For accommodation options, Cedar Valley Campground offers "cabins" that are described as "small but nice and clean." The cleanliness of the cabins is a positive aspect for local users seeking a more comfortable alternative to tent camping. However, the reviewer also pointed out significant limitations regarding the cabin amenities: "They do not have any type bathroom or running water, not do they have a stove. Mini frodge, microwave and coffee maker are the extent of the amenities." This implies a rather basic level of comfort in the cabins, requiring guests to utilize campground restrooms and plan for cooking without a stove. The presence of a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker does offer some convenience for basic food storage and preparation.

The reviewer also noted that "Prices reflect that" in relation to the limited amenities in the cabins. This suggests that the cost of renting a cabin might be lower compared to those with full facilities, making it a potentially budget-friendly option for local users who are comfortable with basic accommodations. Additionally, the reviewer "plsued the golf course, which is really nice for the cost," indicating that there is also a golf course associated with the campground, offering another recreational activity at a good value.

However, a contrasting review presents a significantly negative experience. This reviewer, who had been visiting Cedar Valley Campground for years, stated that their recent visit would be their last due to several issues. Upon arrival, they found their "fire pit was full of trash and there was dog poop on our site." This raises concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of the campsites, which is a fundamental aspect of an enjoyable "camping near me" experience.

The reviewer also reported issues with the behavior of other campers, including "rude campers all around our site," adults and kids walking through their site, and constant balls being kicked onto their site and under their camper. These issues point to a potential lack of enforcement of campground etiquette and consideration among some guests, which can significantly detract from the peaceful enjoyment of others seeking a relaxing "camping near me" getaway.

A particularly concerning incident involved "a dog that wasn't being watched on the site next to ours, on a cable that reached our camper door, and it growled and lunged at my senior lab." The reviewer stated that the office was notified but "did nothing to prevent further incidents." This lack of action from the campground management in addressing safety concerns is a serious issue that local users with pets should be aware of.

The negative reviewer also expressed the opinion that "it seemed that the campground was full of locals that are friends with the camp host, so nothing was done, and the campers continued to make rude comments and not control their children whatsoever." This perception of preferential treatment and a lack of consistent enforcement of rules could be a significant deterrent for local users seeking a well-managed and respectful "camping near me" environment.

The stark contrast between the two reviews highlights the potential for variability in the guest experience at Cedar Valley Campground. While one reviewer enjoyed the amusement park features and found the cabins adequate for the price, another experienced significant issues with cleanliness, disruptive fellow campers, and a lack of management intervention. This suggests that local users considering Cedar Valley Campground should weigh these differing perspectives and potentially seek more recent reviews to get a current understanding of the campground's conditions and atmosphere.

To obtain further information and address the conflicting feedback, local users are strongly encouraged to contact Cedar Valley Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (989) 848-2792 or +1 989-848-2792. Speaking with the campground management can provide clarity on current policies regarding campsite maintenance, pet control, guest behavior, and the operational status of the amusement park features. It would also be prudent to inquire about any recent improvements or changes in management practices that might address the concerns raised in the negative review.

In conclusion, Cedar Valley Campground in Comins, Michigan, offers a unique "camping near me" experience with the added attraction of a small amusement park, including a roller coaster, mini golf, and a pool with a hot tub (operational before Labor Day). The campground also features basic, clean cabins and a golf course. However, potential guests should be aware of reports of unclean campsites, disruptive campers, and a lack of management response to issues. Local users should carefully consider these points and contact the campground directly for the most current information before making a booking decision.
