Chinook Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Grant, Michigan area that offers a blend of natural beauty and on-site activities? Chinook Campground, located at 5471 W 112th St, might be just the place. Based on recent customer reviews, Chinook Campground appears to be a lively and amenity-rich destination, particularly appealing to families and those looking for recreational opportunities. However, some feedback also points to the campground being crowded.
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, Chinook Campground provides a convenient escape with a lot to offer. One enthusiastic tent camper who traveled two hours to visit praised the easy online booking process and their campsite (118), noting its pleasant location with some tree coverage and visibility of the night sky. They also highlighted the helpfulness of the office staff, the convenience and affordability of the on-grounds pizza delivery, and the enjoyable four-hour tubing experience on the Muskegon River. This reviewer also mentioned the availability of a playground, ice cream shop, basketball and volleyball courts, an arcade, a pool, and golf cart rentals, emphasizing that Chinook Campground has "something for everyone." This paints a picture of a campground brimming with activities and conveniences.
The environment of Chinook Campground seems to be characterized by its proximity to the Muskegon River, which offers opportunities for activities like tubing. While one reviewer appreciated their site's partial tree coverage, another described the campground as "very crowded and smushed together" with limited shade on most non-seasonal sites. This suggests that while some areas might offer a more natural feel, the overall layout might prioritize the number of campsites over spaciousness and privacy. The mention of a "cute campground" implies an aesthetically pleasing environment, but the crowding aspect is something to consider for those seeking a more secluded experience. The positive mention of clean pool and bathroom facilities indicates attention to hygiene despite the potential crowds.
In terms of services, Chinook Campground appears to offer a wide array. The positive reviews highlight easy online booking, helpful office staff, on-grounds pizza delivery, and a general store across the street (though noted as a bit pricey, it's convenient for necessities). The availability of amenities like a pool, arcade, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, ice cream shop, and golf cart rentals suggests a focus on providing entertainment and convenience for guests of all ages. One reviewer also appreciated the later checkout time compared to most campgrounds, allowing for a more relaxed departure. However, one camper experienced issues with loud neighbors late at night for two consecutive nights, indicating that noise levels might be a concern in some areas or at certain times.
The features of Chinook Campground are numerous and seem to be a major draw. The tubing on the Muskegon River is a significant highlight. The on-site pool, arcade, and playground make it particularly appealing to families with children. The availability of pizza delivery within the campground adds a unique convenience. Other features include basketball and volleyball courts for sports enthusiasts, an ice cream shop for treats, and golf cart rentals for easy navigation around the grounds. The later checkout time is also a notable feature appreciated by guests. While the crowding and potential for noise from other campers might be considered negative features by some, the sheer variety of amenities and activities is a strong selling point for those looking for an action-packed "camping near me" experience.
Regarding promotional information, the positive testimonials emphasizing the fun activities, helpful staff, and convenient amenities serve as strong endorsements. The fact that one reviewer plans to return and recommends trying the campground suggests a positive overall experience for many visitors. For local users, the proximity to Grant, MI, and the wide range of activities offered make Chinook Campground an attractive option for a family getaway or a fun weekend. Chinook Campground Reviews
I booked this place online and it was a breeze. Super easy and quick. We came 2 hours away. We were so excited. Tent campers. We had site 118. We loved the location, near the back, slight coverage with trees yet we saw some sky and stars at night. The ladies in the office were very nice and helpful, we got directed to our side easily and told about some fun things, they have pizza delivery on the grounds which we took full advantage of. It was affordable, delicious and hot! Quick too. Some campers next to us were respectful and nice, some were super loud and didn’t stop until 230 in the morning. Two nights in a row which made for a long night of no sleep. We took advantage of the tubing and it was so fun, 4 hours of floating down the Muskegon river with my family was great, waves from passing boats, turtles on fallen trees, waving at people and good music. Amazing weather too. What a good experience. Will do again. I recommend coming and trying. They have something for everyone, playground, ice cream shop, pizza delivery, basketball and volleyball, and an arcade, even a pool, oh and you can rent golf carts to get around. Super fun!!!
Aug 12, 2024 · Nena McComasCute campground. Very crowded and smushed together. Not much shade over sites unless your seasonal. Great amenities for kids. Pool and bathrooms were kept very clean. Has a later checkout than most campgrounds which is so nice so your not in a rush to pack up as soon as you wake up. The general store across the street is a little pricy but perfect for odds and ends. Perfect for a quick last minute weekend getaway
Aug 18, 2024 · Anna DeVriendtBooked a cabin for three nights, but loved it so much we stayed one more. GREAT experience! Kids loved the pool, basketball court & arcade. Plenty to do. Staff & anyone we met was so friendly. Even took our dog & she loved it. Will definitely be going again next year!
Jul 20, 2024 · Ruth KeithI give it a 2 and it’s only for our good spot. We were a group of 18 people and we got spot G19. Which was the most private spot in the camp. Here are the problems I found with the camp area:- Very weak in cleaning services- Only two bathrooms building for the whole campsite and the rest of the campsite was full of transportable blue bathrooms stations.- we went for a ride with tubes on the river. The river was full of big tree trunks that put us in enough inconvenience. They didn’t even tell us about these things, and how to tie the tubes together and didn’t even patrolled once. We were on the river for full four hours.- they were only accepting cash!!- the wood prices was 5times more than outside of the camp.
Jun 01, 2023 · Roja GhasemiMy favorite tube transport from long ago. still the best prices I can find. And now with DISC GOLF,🧐 but watch out for the water hazards 👍👍
