You can reach them at (231) 834-5494 or +1 231-834-5494 to inquire about their camping options and rental services.
Within the "camping near me" category, Salmon Run Campground distinguishes itself by not only providing a place to stay but also offering direct access to canoes, kayaks, and tubes for enjoying the nearby river. This makes it an ideal destination for those looking to combine traditional camping with exciting aquatic adventures. The name itself clearly indicates this dual offering, suggesting a focus on both accommodation and recreational activities.
The environment of Salmon Run Campground is described as "lovely" by at least one visitor, who specifically mentioned the "beautiful view of the river." This highlights the scenic appeal of the location, suggesting that campers can expect to enjoy picturesque surroundings with the river as a prominent feature. Waking up to the sight and sounds of the river can significantly enhance the camping experience, providing a sense of tranquility and natural beauty.
In terms of services, the campground owner is noted to be "very friendly and welcoming." This personal touch can greatly contribute to a positive camping experience, making guests feel comfortable and valued. A welcoming owner often sets the tone for a hospitable environment throughout the campground. Additionally, the presence of a "camp store" is mentioned, which stocks "merch along with things to eat and drink." This amenity provides convenience for campers, allowing them to purchase essentials, snacks, and beverages without having to leave the campground. The availability of merchandise also suggests a desire to create a memorable experience for visitors.
One practical aspect to be aware of when considering Salmon Run Campground, as mentioned by a visitor with a Class A gas RV, is the presence of a "steep hill" leading to the location. However, this reviewer also noted that their RV handled it "just fine," suggesting that while it might be a consideration for some larger vehicles, it is likely manageable for most. It's always wise for those with larger rigs to inquire about the specific route and any potential challenges beforehand.
Regarding features, the most prominent aspect is the direct association with Vic's Canoes, Kayaks and Tubes. While the reviews provided don't detail the specifics of these rental services (such as the types of equipment available, rental costs, or the section of the river accessible), the name itself implies that campers have easy access to these watercraft for leisurely paddles or tubing excursions. This feature significantly enhances the appeal of the campground for those seeking active outdoor recreation as part of their "camping near me" experience.
It is important to address a past negative experience shared by one reviewer. They recounted a "ruined" first visit several years prior due to being given a cabin with bed bugs, which led to them leaving on the first night. However, this reviewer also made a crucial point: they acknowledged that there were "new owners" at the time of their subsequent comment. They described the new owners as "extremely friendly" and expressed hope for a much better experience on their next visit, indicating a willingness to give the campground another chance under the new management. This highlights a potential change in the quality of service and accommodation over time. The reviewer also stated their love for camping out and their intention to update their review after their second outing, suggesting a positive outlook despite the initial issue.
Considering this past incident alongside the more recent positive review, it's crucial for potential visitors to recognize that experiences can evolve, especially with changes in ownership or management. The recent review praising the friendly owner, beautiful river view, and convenient camp store offers a more current perspective on what campers might expect. However, the past issue serves as a reminder for any traveler to be mindful and perhaps inquire about the current state of accommodations, especially if considering cabin rentals.
In terms of promotional information, Salmon Run Campground implicitly promotes itself through its name and the positive aspects highlighted in the recent review. The combination of "Campground" and "Vic's Canoes, Kayaks and Tubes" clearly markets it as a destination for both camping and river-based activities. The mention of a friendly owner and a camp store adds to the appeal, suggesting a welcoming and convenient stay. The beautiful river view is another significant selling point for those seeking a scenic "camping near me" location.
While specific promotions or discounts are not mentioned in the provided text, the unique offering of both camping facilities and watercraft rentals is itself a strong draw. For local users looking to combine a camping trip with easy access to canoeing, kayaking, or tubing on a river, Salmon Run Campground positions itself as a prime choice within the "camping near me" category. The positive feedback regarding the owner's friendliness suggests a personal touch that can enhance the overall experience.
To summarize, Salmon Run Campground and Vic's Canoes, Kayaks and Tubes offers a potentially rewarding "camping near me" experience, particularly for those who appreciate scenic river views and enjoy water-based activities. The friendly owner and the convenience of the camp store are additional positives. While a past issue with a cabin should be noted, the change in ownership and a more recent positive review offer a more encouraging outlook. The presence of a steep hill might be a logistical consideration for some RV owners. Overall, for local users in the Grant, MI area seeking a campground that combines natural beauty with recreational opportunities, Salmon Run Campground is worth considering. Inquire about their current camping options and rental services to plan your riverside adventure.

Salmon Run Campground and Vic's Canoes, Kayaks and Tubes Reviews
My 1st visit here was ruined the 1st night as we were given a cabin full of bed bugs and we left the 1st night. The new owners were extremely friendly and we hope that our next outing here will be far better than our 1st as we love to camp out. This happened several years ago and I totally forgot to review this place but I will definitely update my review on our 2nd outing.
Mar 04, 2025 · Ivan ValentinWe stayed one night here in our RV. The campground was lovely. Beautiful view of the river. The campground owner was very friendly and welcoming. Camp store has merch along with things to eat and drink. There is a steep hill to get there but our Class A gas handled it just fine. We would stay again if we were in the area.

Oct 07, 2024 · Lori GinterI have been camping for over 20 years in various locations. Salmon Run is my favorite campground by a landslide! It is rare to see 100% of staff have such a deep and sincere care about all their guests! If you like nature and tranquility, this is the place for you! This campground is nestled in a beautiful woods and is very peaceful! There is a lot of wildlife; beautiful birds, eagles, fish, turtles, deer, & raccoons. The river trips are relaxing and amazing with every vessel you could want! The staff is very flexible about the time you choose to take your memorable float. The campground is beyond spotlessly clean !!!! I don’t believe I saw a full trash can once!! The bathrooms are cleaned to pristine - every morning and checked throughout the day!I typically like to camp no more than 1.5 hours from home, but for Salmon Run, I am happy to make the 3 hour trip!!! Salmon Run is ABSOLUTELY worth the drive to enjoy and build memories of a lifetime!!!Words cannot express my gratitude to the campground owners and their hard working team for making my vacation INCREDIBLE!!!
