Christie Day Use Area Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Susanville, California area? Christie Day Use Area Campground, located in Susanville, CA 96130, USA, offers a well-regarded and spacious camping option for individuals and groups alike. Based on positive customer reviews, Christie Campground provides ample room, essential amenities, and convenient access to Eagle Lake, making it a desirable choice for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of Northern California.
Susanville is situated in Lassen County, a region known for its diverse landscapes, including forests, mountains, and lakes. Eagle Lake, near which Christie Day Use Area Campground is located, is a significant natural attraction in the area, offering opportunities for various recreational activities. Camping near Eagle Lake provides access to its scenic shores, potential for boating and other water sports, and the surrounding natural environment. Christie Campground's proximity to the lake is a key feature highlighted by campers.
According to customer reviews, Christie Day Use Area Campground stands out for its spaciousness. One reviewer noted, "Plenty of room for a fairly large (or several smaller) gathering." This makes it an excellent option for families, groups of friends, or organized events looking to camp together. The availability of ample space ensures a comfortable and less crowded camping experience compared to more compact campgrounds. This spaciousness is further emphasized by another reviewer who stated, "It's more spacious than nearby Merrill and Eagle campgrounds," providing a comparative advantage for those who value extra room and privacy.
In terms of amenities, Christie Campground offers a blend of basic and more convenient facilities. One reviewer mentioned the availability of "Picnic tables and an outhouse," which are standard provisions for many campgrounds. However, they also noted "one bib supplies cold running water," indicating a source of potable water, albeit perhaps limited to a single location. Another reviewer highlighted more developed amenities, stating the presence of "flush toilets and potable water," which are significant conveniences that enhance the comfort and hygiene of the camping experience. The discrepancy in the descriptions of water and toilet facilities might suggest variations in different areas of the campground or updates over time, but the overall indication is that both basic and more developed options are available.
Shade is another significant advantage of Christie Day Use Area Campground, with one reviewer explicitly stating, "There is lots of shade." This is particularly valuable during the summer months in California, providing a welcome respite from the sun and helping to keep campsites cool and comfortable. The reviewer further noted that "The summer is mild and it's always comfortable in the shade," reinforcing the pleasant environment offered by the campground's natural canopy.
Accessibility is also a key feature, with one reviewer mentioning "lots of parking and easy lake access." Ample parking is crucial for accommodating vehicles, especially for larger groups or those towing boats or trailers. Easy lake access directly facilitates recreational activities on Eagle Lake, such as swimming, boating, and fishing. This convenience allows campers to fully enjoy the lake environment without significant travel or logistical hurdles.
The overall management of Christie Day Use Area Campground is described positively, with one reviewer stating, "Christie is a good camp that is well-run." This suggests that the campground is well-organized, maintained, and that the staff or managing authority ensures a positive experience for visitors. A well-run campground contributes to a more enjoyable and hassle-free camping trip.
However, one potential drawback mentioned by a reviewer is the presence of insects near the lake: "It is near a lake so the only drawback is that there are a lot of mosquitoes and flies." This is a common issue in many lakeside environments, particularly during the warmer months. Prospective campers should be prepared with insect repellent and appropriate clothing to mitigate the nuisance of mosquitoes and flies. The reviewer also noted that "Eagle Lake shore fishing isn't very good during the summer," which might be relevant for those specifically planning to fish from the shore during their camping trip.

Sep 03, 2024 · Becca MacLeanThis day use area was clean and quiet. With beautiful views of the lake. However, there is no Beach. There's plenty of grass and it's great for bird watching and picnicking and also makes a perfect fishing spot. Will definitely use this day area in the future.
