Eagle Lake Introduce
For local residents seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience, Eagle Lake Campground, located at 477-050 Eagle Lake Rd in Susanville, CA 96130, USA, offers a serene escape into nature's embrace. As one recent visitor noted, "Eagle Lake was as lovely as ever last weekend and very quiet now that most tourists have headed home," suggesting that even during popular times, a peaceful atmosphere prevails, especially as the seasons transition.
Eagle Lake Campground is described as "one of the most serene places" a visitor has encountered, highlighting its ability to provide a truly relaxing and calming environment. The campsites themselves are noteworthy for their size, offering ample space for setting up camp and enjoying the surroundings without feeling crowded. Adding to the comfort are the "very tall" trees that generously shade the campsites, providing a welcome canopy, particularly during warmer California days. This natural shade enhances the overall camping experience, allowing for comfortable outdoor living throughout the day.
In terms of facilities, Eagle Lake Campground offers the convenience of clean flush toilets, a significant amenity that contributes to a more comfortable camping experience. While showers are not directly located within the campground, they are readily accessible a short distance away at the Marina Store, approximately a 3-minute drive. The cost for a shower at the Marina Store was reported to be $2.50 for 5 minutes, a reasonable fee for a refreshing amenity. The presence of these well-maintained facilities adds to the appeal of Eagle Lake Campground for those who appreciate a balance between natural immersion and essential comforts.
A notable feature associated with Eagle Lake Campground is the nearby Marina Store, which proves to be a valuable resource for campers. According to a visitor, the store stocks a wide array of items, catering to various needs. During their stay, they were able to purchase necessities like a roll of paper towel and even treats like sweatshirts for their children. The store also thoughtfully carries items such as air mattress repair kits, demonstrating its preparedness for common camping mishaps. This convenience of having a well-stocked store in close proximity significantly enhances the overall camping experience at Eagle Lake.
For those who rely on mobile communication, it's important to be aware that the mobile phone coverage at the campsite itself is reported as "very bad." However, the same visitor noted that the coverage was "excellent" in the areas around the lake that they visited. This suggests that while you might experience limited connectivity at your campsite, you may find better reception when exploring the lake and its surroundings. This aspect encourages a greater focus on enjoying the natural environment while still offering the possibility of connection when needed near the water.
The immediate vicinity of the campsite is described as offering a more relaxed pace, with "not a whole lot to do near the campsite other than relax, which is exactly what we needed." This emphasizes the campground's suitability for those seeking a peaceful retreat where unwinding and enjoying the tranquility of nature are the primary activities. For those who do wish to engage in more active pursuits, the area offers at least one hiking trail and one paved bike trail directly accessible from the campground, providing opportunities for light exploration and exercise.
For more extensive hiking options, a short drive to the nearby town of Susanville opens up access to additional trails. This proximity to Susanville provides a balance for campers who appreciate the serenity of Eagle Lake but also desire more diverse recreational activities within a reasonable distance. Of course, the centerpiece of the area is Eagle Lake itself, where visitors reported spending 2-3 hours each day enjoying the water. While there isn't a significantly "defined beach," the freedom to roam around the lake's edge is a definite plus. The water is described as "clean and clear," making it inviting for various lake activities. Depending on water levels, some areas along the shore may be rocky, but as one visitor noted, this was "not a big deal" and likely related to lower water levels at the time of their visit.
The overall sentiment from visitors is overwhelmingly positive, with one simply stating, "We loved it!" This concise yet powerful endorsement speaks to the enjoyable and memorable experiences that Eagle Lake Campground offers. The combination of serene surroundings, spacious and shady campsites, clean facilities (including the accessible showers at the marina), and the beauty of Eagle Lake itself creates a compelling destination for local campers.
While no specific promotional offers are mentioned in the provided reviews, the inherent appeal of Eagle Lake Campground lies in its natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and convenient amenities. The opportunity to camp in a serene location with large, shaded sites, access to clean facilities, and the recreational possibilities of Eagle Lake make it a valuable option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Susanville area. The proximity to the Marina Store for supplies and showers further enhances its convenience.
For local users looking for a tranquil escape where they can relax, enjoy the beauty of a pristine lake, and have access to basic yet essential amenities, Eagle Lake Campground is an excellent choice. Eagle Lake Reviews
Eagle Lake was as lovely as ever last weekend and very quiet now that most tourists have headed home.
Oct 04, 2024 · Laureen KinnamanOne of the most serene places I've visited. Big campsites with very tall to provide shade. Flush toilet is clean. Shower is about 3minutes away, at the Marina Store. It was $2.50 for 5mins. The Marina Store actually has a lot of stuff to purchase. We ended up buying a roll of paper towel and 2 sweatshirts for the kids. They also have air mattress repair kits. Very bad mobile phone coverage at the campsite; it was excellent at the areas of the lake where we visited. There isn't a whole lot to do near the campsite other than relax, which is exactly what we needed. One 1 hiking trail and one paved bike trail from what we can tell. We ended up driving to Susanville to hike another trail. Of course, there's the lake, which we spent 2-3hr each day. Not much of a defined beach, but you are free to roam around endlessly. Water is clean and clear. Most areas we walked were rocky (because of low water I think), but it was not a big deal.We loved it!

May 31, 2019 · Matt LusakWe had a blast here. Great camping, lots to do outdoors, the lake is beautiful!
Sep 15, 2017 · T- ManIt was comfortable at not too buggy in early July. It has no lakefront sites. Showers are available at the nearby marina for a few bucks. The sites don't have much privacy but we enjoyed that the place was mostly empty midweek.
