Completely beautiful here it is $10 basic camping ( price goes up for RVs and double sites) + $3.00 for parking. Had an amazing time hiking the trails and exploring the area, I was impressed by the peacefulness and the beauty of this place but I had forgotten my fishing pole at home the entire time walking around the lake kept seeing bass hit topwater. Will be visiting again mainly to fish

Good location near Council bluff lake with trails. I only wish people had more respect for public property. The vault toilet by my campsite was littered and scattered in the campground were places where people defacated literally 3 feet off the road. Really a sad situation to what could otherwise be a wonderful spot.The boat launch and lake we're really nice but the beach was closed on Tuesday

First thing that upset me with Council Bluff was I drove out to the camp area and picked me a group site. The post said $25.00 on it. I came to reserve my site and got charged $50.00 a night. I called and the MO Reservation and they said take it up with managers at the park. I figured I would to the managers at the park when I arrived on 7/4/2024. When I arrived at camp at 4pm the camp itself had to be trash and leaves and grass and weeds that had not be cut. Then we had to set up camp. And it did not help we was right in the middle of a heat wave. At 7pm when camp was finally set up we decided to go take showers and drove down to go and take a shower and found out they hung a nice sign that said beach hours was 11am till 7pm and this is how you got to the shower house as well so we had no way to bath after cleaning a camp site. Next day we go to the great beach area and picked a table right by the concession stand and we went swimming and came back to the table to have lunch and couldn't enjoy ourselves cause the mangers family pulled there van right down on top of our table to unload all there stuff for a kayak day. I also asked the manager about the price of my site and was told that's a old sign. So I ended up $50.00 dollars a night for a canpsite with no water and restricted shower times and no amenities. I just threw my hands up and tried to enjoy my time even though it was not right. And it got from here on out. I said forget I'm getting a shower and going back to camp. I got into the bathroom and found it was $1.75 for a 5 minute shower. So I went to the concession stand and asked why as a camper I had to pay for a shower and they said it was to detour the homeless from taking showers. And I was like so they is no way to allow the people camping a free shower. And they was like no. So another cost. After the shower went back to camp and could not get no rest because of other campers setting off fireworks. Next day got no better my son drove down on Saturday to swim and grill with us down at the beach. We got to the beach and picnic area to fins out that we wasn't going to have a table for this cause there was yet another charge we was unaware of. In order to have a table we needed to reserve one. So we didn't get to swim with the grandkids that day. So we went back to camp to grill for my son and his family and found roaches in all our cooking supplies and picnic tables. So now I paid $200.00 dollars for a campsite with roaches and restricted shower times and cold showers and the machines kept breaking when you tried to shower and no amenities and no picnic tables unless you reserved them. And if you camp on a Sunday here cause they are closed on Monday you don't get no ranger or any police checking on you. The Sunday we stayed there was motorcycles and dirt bikes driving all threw the camp area all night long. I will never camp here again. It is so sad to see such a pretty place be so run down and ran like this. It could be so much more.

Nice place to take your family, you can swim, barbeque, or you can buy food and snacks from their snack shack. They used to rent out paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, etc... they no longer do, but you can bring your own. They also have inside showers and bathrooms, outside areas to clean off your feet and sandals if you don't use the shower, and plenty of picnic tables and barbecue grills. Very scenic and beautiful, and if you like camping, they also have campgrounds.
