For those browsing platforms under the category "camping near me," Red Bluff Campground stands out as a gem offering a variety of experiences and amenities.
Red Bluff Campground boasts a diverse landscape, catering to different camping preferences. The Pines Overlook loop, as highlighted by a recent visitor, provides ample shade for tent campers, creating a cool and comfortable environment even on warm days. While this loop does not offer electric hookups, it compensates with breathtaking views and a sense of tranquility. The reviewer noted the sparse population, even on a Saturday night, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude and a peaceful connection with nature. The hosts are commended for their regular presence, ensuring the well-being and safety of all campers.
Another significant area within the campground is the Creek loop, which offers a different camping experience, although details regarding its specific amenities were not provided by the reviewer who only discovered its existence upon departure. This suggests the campground is expansive enough to offer varied environments, potentially catering to RV campers or those seeking closer proximity to the water source. Exploring both loops would undoubtedly reveal the full spectrum of what Red Bluff Campground has to offer.
One of the standout features of Red Bluff Campground, repeatedly praised by visitors, is its stunning swimming area. Described as clean and gorgeous, it serves as a refreshing oasis, particularly during the warmer months. The fact that it is rarely overcrowded adds to its appeal, allowing visitors to truly relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the water. For locals whose usual swimming spots might be temporarily unavailable, Red Bluff's swimming area offers a fantastic alternative, fostering a sense of community among families who have been frequenting this spot for generations. This multi-generational connection speaks volumes about the enduring charm and quality of the campground.
In terms of services, the hosts at Red Bluff Campground are attentive and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for their guests. Their regular check-ins at the campsites demonstrate a commitment to visitor well-being. While the overall experience is highly positive, one area for potential improvement, as mentioned in a review, is the cleanliness of the shower house and bathrooms. While the vault toilets were deemed reasonably clean, the showers and flushing toilets could benefit from more thorough and regular cleaning, particularly the showers, toilets, sinks, flush buttons, and door handles. Addressing these concerns would undoubtedly elevate the overall visitor experience and align the amenity quality with the campground's natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
Despite the minor concerns about bathroom cleanliness, the overwhelming sentiment from visitors is one of appreciation for the beauty, tranquility, and safety of Red Bluff Campground. The absence of bothersome insects like mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and chiggers in the Pines Overlook loop is a significant advantage, allowing campers to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings without the annoyance of pests. This aspect contributes greatly to the overall enjoyment and relaxation of the camping experience.

Red Bluff Campground Reviews
Recently camped here in the Pines Overlook loop and the sites had plenty of shade for tent camping, no electric but that's ok with me. Very very beautiful view, and was sparsely populated even on a Saturday night. I think most people were at the Creek loop which I did not even know existed until I got turned around when leaving. Very much appreciated the solitude, and the hosts did come by once or twice daily to make sure things were well. I did not have any issues or even notice any mosquitoes, nor ticks, no fleas or chiggers or anything unpleasant bug-related. The lack of a 5th star is because of the cleanliness of the shower house/ bathrooms (not necessarily the vault toilets because you can only do so much and they were cleaner than most). The showers really need a good cleaning, so glad I didn't have to go in them barefoot. The flushing bathrooms were a bit cleaner, but still need a good cleaning of the toilets and sinks, flush buttons and door handles. Felt quite safe and will definitely be back
Aug 15, 2024 · Tamra StevensLong family history/tradition at this beautiful spot. The swimming area is clean and gorgeous...and rarely over populated. Recently I've been heading down to swim since my pool is closed and it has been amazing seeing and talking with other families that have also been coming here for decades. Several generations. This is a gorgeous and peaceful place. Just an hour and forty minutes from St. Louis. Worth the drive even for a brief day trip, and nice to camp at too.
Jul 28, 2020 · Mary Liz KaneBest place for camping! Beautiful campsites. Some spaced out for a little bit of privacy and some gathered together if you prefer a busier space.Yard hydrants to wash off at, no showers available. A handful of electric sites. Most campsites are super close to the water and have a beautiful view. Huzzah creek this far down is mostly shallow (knee deep) with one or two deeper spots to swim at.Definitely reserve a space before you go if you go on the weekends.
Sep 19, 2021 · Larissa MartinVery clean, roadways are well kept, showers are free, and they have electricity at a lot of the sites. The streams are very pretty aswell
May 02, 2025 · MichaelWe reserved our site through recreation.gov but upon arrival we did not see any sign that we reserved our site. So, we made up our own sign and hung on campground number post. Tried to find campground host but could not find him/her. Very poor service. No trash collection, sites are not that great, vault toilet only. However there is a creek beside the campground where we took our shower. Sign at campground almost not present, lots of bugs, no lights. Definitely not coming back to this campground, if we do we will not reserve our site in advance.
