Crystal Springs Campground Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts seeking a well-maintained and picturesque "camping near me" experience, Crystal Springs Campground, located at 1130 N Crystal Springs Rd, Royal, AR 71968, presents an attractive option. Situated in the vicinity of Lake Ouachita, this campground, reachable at (501) 767-2101 or +1 501-767-2101, has garnered positive reviews highlighting its cleanliness and beautiful scenery. Based on customer feedback, Crystal Springs Campground offers a pleasant environment and essential amenities for a comfortable camping trip.
The environment surrounding Crystal Springs Campground is described as having "beautiful scenery," suggesting that campers can expect to be immersed in the natural beauty of the region. Its proximity to Lake Ouachita, a renowned recreational area, implies access to the lake and its associated activities. Lake Ouachita is known for its clear waters, opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming, and its scenic shoreline surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest. The natural landscape likely provides a tranquil backdrop for a relaxing camping experience.
One reviewer specifically mentioned the "very clean grounds" of Crystal Springs Campground. Cleanliness is a significant factor for many campers, contributing to a more enjoyable and comfortable stay. This positive feedback indicates that the management prioritizes the upkeep of the campground, ensuring a pleasant environment for visitors.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some valuable insights:
- Restroom Facilities with Showers: A notable feature is the availability of a "fairly clean" restroom facility that includes "full showers." This is a significant amenity, especially for those planning longer stays or engaging in water activities on the lake. Having access to showers enhances the overall camping experience.
- Site Lighting: The presence of "some site lighting" is also mentioned. This provides a degree of convenience and safety during the evening hours, making it easier to navigate the campground and manage your campsite after dark.
- Plenty of Site Options: One reviewer noted "plenty of options for your personal setup," suggesting a variety of campsites are available to accommodate different camping preferences and equipment, whether it be tents or RVs. This flexibility allows campers to choose a site that best suits their needs.
The reviews also highlight a few important procedural aspects for potential visitors:
- Registration Process: Upon finding a suitable spot, campers are required to register. This involves filling out a "little yellow card" and posting it at their campsite. This self-registration process is important for campground management and ensures proper allocation of sites.
- Group Camping Awareness: Campers need to be mindful not to set up in designated "group camping" spots if they are not part of a group. This ensures that these larger areas are reserved for those who need them.
- Weekend Booking Policy: There is a specific booking policy for Friday nights, requiring a reservation for Saturday night as well. This suggests a high demand for weekend camping and a strategy to manage site occupancy during peak times.
- Off-Season Access: For those visiting during the off-season, it's noted that the first gate might be locked. However, access is still possible by driving down to the second entrance and doubling back to reach the first loop. This is useful information for campers visiting outside of the main camping season.
While the reviews provide valuable information about the cleanliness, scenery, amenities like showers and site lighting, and some procedural aspects, they do not explicitly detail other potential services such as:
- Water and Electrical Hookups: It is not specified whether the campsites offer water and electrical hookups, which are important for RV campers.
- Dump Station: For RV users, the availability of a dump station for waste disposal is a key consideration.
- Fire Pits or Grills: It's not mentioned if individual campsites are equipped with fire pits or grills for cooking and campfires.
- Picnic Tables: The presence of picnic tables at each site would add to the convenience for campers.
- Wi-Fi Access: In today's connected world, some campgrounds offer Wi-Fi for guests, although this is not mentioned in the reviews.
- Recreational Activities on-site: While the proximity to Lake Ouachita suggests water-based activities are nearby, it's not clear if Crystal Springs Campground itself offers any specific recreational facilities within the grounds, such as playgrounds or hiking trails.
To obtain comprehensive information about these aspects and any other services or features, local users are strongly encouraged to contact Crystal Springs Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (501) 767-2101 or +1 501-767-2101. Direct communication will provide the most accurate and up-to-date details.
Similarly, the provided information does not include any specific promotional offers or discounts. Local users interested in potential deals for longer stays, seasonal rates, or any other special offers should inquire directly when calling the campground. It's always a good idea to ask about any current promotions that might be available.
In summary, for local residents looking for "camping near me" in a location with beautiful scenery and a reputation for cleanliness, Crystal Springs Campground near Lake Ouachita in Royal, AR, is a promising choice. The availability of full showers and site lighting adds to the comfort and convenience. However, potential visitors should be aware of the self-registration process, the policy regarding group camping spots, and the weekend booking requirement. For detailed information about site amenities (like hookups), other services, and any promotional offers, direct contact via phone is recommended. Crystal Springs Campground appears to offer a well-maintained base for enjoying the natural attractions of the Lake Ouachita area.

Crystal Springs Campground Reviews
You must register after you find your spot, then fill the little yellow card out and post it at your stop. Make sure you're not in a group camping spot first! Also, you cannot book a Friday night without also booking for Saturday night. Very clean grounds, beautiful scenery, and we stayed 3 nights! Will 100% come back!
Dec 14, 2024 · Shronn SchuelkeSince it was off-season, the first gate was locked. But you can just drive down and go through the second entrance and double back to get to the first loop. The sites are perfect! Plenty of options for your personal setup. The restroom facility was fairly clean and has full showers available. There's some site lighting as well.
Feb 15, 2024 · Jon RinehartWe are here now and honestly feel like we are in heaven! What a beautiful place and such kind people! I am hoping to come back again and again! The restrooms are super clean and warm for those cool evenings and cool mornings!
Mar 18, 2025 · Wendy AWent for an overnight trip to visit Hot Spring National Park and camped out here during the visit. The atmosphere was nice. Reaching the campsite entrance and check in was slightly confusing. Google told me I reached my destination before I actually got to the entrance so I was able to see the campground before I arrived at the entrance. The email instructions said to fill out the self check-in form and a ranger would come around to verify. We never saw a ranger or anyone come around to verify. The cost to stay was very low and it was about 30 minutes away from Hot Springs National Park. There is not much super close by so it's a quiet campground with a lake on the campground and more lakes nearby.
Mar 17, 2024 · Stephanie DThis place was BEAUTIFUL. The playgrounds were right on the beaches of the swim area so the kids were always entertained. We could see the swimarea/playground from our site which made it easier for us to cook while the kids played.
