Deerwood Park Evansdale Iowa Introduce
For those in the Evansdale, Iowa area and surrounding communities searching for "camping near me," Deerwood Park, located at FM6R+84, Deerwood Park Rd, Evansdale, IA 50707, USA, presents a camping option with certain family-friendly features and essential amenities. However, recent feedback from campers indicates both advantages and notable drawbacks that potential visitors should consider when planning their outdoor stay.
The environment of Deerwood Park appears to be geared towards families with children, as one of the positive features highlighted in the reviews is the presence of two parks or playgrounds on the property. This provides dedicated spaces for children to play and engage in outdoor activities, which can be a significant draw for families looking for a campground where their kids can stay entertained. The availability of water and electric campsites suggests a level of convenience for RV and trailer campers who require these hookups. However, one reviewer noted a significant issue with these sites, describing them as "terribly unlevel," which could pose challenges for setting up and ensuring the stability of camping units. This unevenness is a crucial environmental factor to be aware of, as it can impact the overall comfort and functionality of the campsite.
In terms of services and features, Deerwood Park offers some potentially valuable amenities. The presence of showers and laundry facilities on-site is mentioned as a "huge plus" by one reviewer, as these are essential for longer stays and maintaining comfort during a camping trip. The availability of water and electric hookups at the campsites caters to the needs of many modern campers. However, a stark contrast exists in the feedback regarding the condition of the shower house. One reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, stating that it is "the worst shower house of any campground I've EVER seen" and "absolutely disgusting." This individual further commented on the apparent lack of cleaning and the outdated condition of items like floor mats and shower curtains, suggesting a significant lapse in hygiene and maintenance in this crucial facility. This strongly negative assessment of the shower house is a critical point for potential campers who prioritize cleanliness and functional amenities.
The starkly contrasting reviews paint a picture of a campground with some appealing features, particularly for families with children and those needing basic utility hookups, but with potentially significant issues related to the upkeep and condition of essential facilities like the shower house, as well as the quality of the campsites themselves in terms of levelness. The positive mention of two parks suggests a family-oriented focus, providing recreational opportunities for children. The presence of laundry facilities can be a considerable advantage for longer stays, allowing campers to maintain clean clothing without leaving the campground. The availability of water and electric sites is standard for many campgrounds catering to RVs and trailers, offering convenience for power and water needs.
However, the severely negative feedback regarding the shower house cannot be ignored. If the conditions are as described by the reviewer, this could be a major deterrent for many potential campers, regardless of other amenities. Clean and functional restrooms and showers are often a basic expectation for a comfortable camping experience. The issue of unlevel campsites is also a significant drawback, as it can affect the stability and overall enjoyment of the camping setup. Campers might face difficulties in leveling their RVs or trailers, which can impact the functionality of appliances and the comfort of living within the unit. Tent campers on unlevel ground might also experience discomfort and instability.
Promotional information is limited based on the provided reviews. The existence of two parks could be seen as a promotional point for families with young children. The availability of water and electric sites caters to a specific segment of the camping market (RV and trailer owners). Similarly, the presence of showers and laundry facilities could attract campers planning longer stays or those who value these conveniences. However, the strongly negative review concerning the shower house and the issue of unlevel campsites effectively counter any positive promotion that might be inferred from the other amenities. Potential local users would likely be hesitant to book a stay based on the severe cleanliness concerns raised.
In conclusion, Deerwood Park in Evansdale, Iowa, offers a campground with the potential for family-friendly stays due to its two playgrounds and provides essential amenities such as water and electric hookups, showers, and laundry facilities. However, it is critical for potential local users to be aware of the significant negative feedback regarding the extremely poor condition of the shower house and the problem of unlevel campsites with water and electric hookups. These issues could severely impact the comfort and overall experience of camping at Deerwood Park. While the presence of playgrounds might appeal to families, the fundamental need for clean and functional facilities, as well as level campsites, is paramount for most campers. Given the severity of the negative review concerning the shower house, prospective visitors should exercise caution and perhaps seek more recent reviews or attempt to contact the campground directly at (319) 493-0655 or +1 319-493-0655 to inquire about the current condition of the facilities and the levelness of the campsites before making a decision. Without further positive information or evidence of improvements, the negative aspects highlighted in the reviews present considerable reasons for concern for those seeking "camping near me" in the Evansdale area.

Deerwood Park Evansdale Iowa Reviews
To say this campground has the worst shower house of any campground I've EVER seen, would be an understatement. Absolutely disgusting. Goes with the rest of the town though. The floor mats and shower curtains are probably from when the park opened up... Which is probably the last time that place has ever been cleaned as well. I will never go back!!!
Oct 20, 2024 · Richelle NealThey have 2 parks which is great for kids. The water and electric camp sites are reasonably priced but terribly unlevel. You will have issues if you choose one of those sites. Also they have showers and laundry on sute which is a huge plus
Apr 30, 2018 · Jenny pittmanWe were driving late and decided to stop last minute. Saw a sign on the road that said “camping” and headed that way. We called the number listen on Google at 10:10pm. A lady answered and my husband asked if they had a tent spot available for the night. She said they did and we were a bit turned around so she stayed on the phone with us and gave us directions. She said she normally turns her phone off at 10 but decided to answer (thank goodness!). We arrived, paid $15, and had a nice spot by the river for the night. Clean, quiet. We showered the next morning. Restrooms were clean, water was hot. Great spot.
Jul 26, 2024 · Brittany AndersThis park is for people who like to camp with close neighbors. Your pets are welcome. There are toys for kids and fishing and other things for our older kids (as in my age and on). They have showers if your primitive campers. Come check it out it's a good place to camp.
Sep 10, 2024 · Glendolyn “Sis” ElliottHands down, best 'customer service' we've ever received at a campground before. Hubby and I broke down on the highway on the way back home from a long weekend camping. These guys not only set us up with a last-minute full hookup site, they also took us to the grocery store to grab a few things to hold us over PLUS gave us a hose to extend long enough for our hookup. Couldn't say enough about these kind folks. Site is clean, quiet and nice to walk around. Definitely will be back!
