Grundy County Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents in Iowa and those passing through, searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of cleanliness, amenities, and natural beauty, Grundy County Lake Campground in Dike, IA, presents an exceptional option. Located at 29482 170th St, this campground has garnered positive reviews for its well-maintained facilities and access to a picturesque lake, making it a potential jewel for your next camping adventure.
One of the standout features of Grundy County Lake Campground, as highlighted by a satisfied visitor, is its exceptional cleanliness. This attention to hygiene contributes significantly to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. The reviewer also noted the presence of "all the amenities," suggesting that the campground is well-equipped to meet the needs of various types of campers. The beautiful walk to the lake further enhances its appeal, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying the waterfront scenery.
Navigating to the campground is made clear by a detailed direction provided in a review. The entrance is situated several hundred feet past the main park entrance. Campers should follow a gravel road for approximately a quarter mile, which then leads to a paved road on the right, guiding them to the campground itself. This clear guidance helps ensure a smooth arrival.
The campground offers a total of 61 sites, catering to different preferences with a mix of back-in and pull-through options. All sites are described as "well spaced," providing campers with ample room and a sense of privacy. Each site is equipped with shared water spigots and comprehensive electrical hookups offering 10, 30, and 50 amp service, accommodating a wide range of RVs and electrical needs.
Addressing a previous misconception, a recent review clarifies that there are indeed six restrooms available at the campground, not just two. These are located in the shower house building, with three restrooms on the front and three on the rear. Notably, all six are family-style restrooms, each containing a shower, vanity, and commode within a spacious area. This design offers added privacy and convenience for families or individuals. During the review, the three restrooms on the front of the building were open, though one lacked a sign on the door. Of the three on the back, two on the left were open, while the one on the left marked as handicap accessible was locked, possibly due to being out of order given the high placement of the deadbolt.
For families with children, Grundy County Lake Campground offers a playground located near the shower house. The playground features typical equipment such as swings, a climbing structure with a slide, and a crawl-through tunnel, providing entertainment for younger campers.
The grounds of the campground are meticulously maintained, with "well tended grass" at the campsites. Additionally, the campground features "well tended grass walking paths of decent width that wander through the tall native grasses." These paths offer a pleasant way to explore the natural surroundings and enjoy the local flora.
Despite being mid-week in the first week of October, a reviewer noted that the campground was not empty, with six other campers already present and one more arriving after their setup. This suggests that Grundy County Lake Campground is a popular destination even outside of peak season, likely due to its appealing features and well-kept environment.
The overall impression from the reviews is that Grundy County Lake Campground is a "jewel" of a camping destination in Iowa. Its cleanliness, comprehensive amenities, access to a lake, well-spaced sites, family-style restrooms, playground, and maintained walking paths contribute to a positive and enjoyable camping experience. The quiet and pleasant environment makes it a welcome change for those traveling through Iowa.

Grundy County Lake Campground Reviews
So happy we found this campground! It's exceptionally clean and has all the amenities, along with a beautiful walk to the lake. We will definitely come stay again!
Aug 17, 2024 · Kirsten BrownThe campground entrance is several hundred ft past the park entrance. Down a gravel road a quarter mile to a paved road to the right.61 sites some back-ins some pull throughs all well spaced shared water spigots. 10, 30, 50 amp at each site.I read on a previous review that there were only two restrooms, there are 6. Three on the front of the building and three on the rear. These are all family style, shower, vanity, commode all with ample room. The three in the front were open though the one on the right did not have a sign on the door.Of the three on the back the two to the left were open but the one to the left marked handicap was locked. I don't know why because I could tell it was a dead bolt located much higher than handicap would allow. As such I assume it was out of order. Our site was a pull through between the shower house and the playground personally more interested in the shower house than the playground. The playground had the usual swings, a thing to climb in and slide down and a tunnel to crawl through. The grass is well tended and there are well tended grass walking paths of decent width that wander through the tall native grasses.Thought we would have the park to ourselves being mid-week first week in Oct. Close there were six already parked and one more arrived after we setup. We pass through Iowa often and get tired of the same ole roads and enjoy different corn and soybean fields. This campground is a jewel 💎.
Oct 07, 2022 · John WicklundThis is a modern campground that's nice and has a mix of back-in and pull-through sites. Rates in '21 were an affordable $15/night for water & electric hookups. The bath/shower house were clean and appear to be well cared for. This is a "newer" campground so the trees are still young and don't provide much shade.
Nov 17, 2021 · Darrin OchsnerThis park has beautiful views and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Everyone has been respectful and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by this park. :)
Jul 04, 2024 · SierraAlways a great place to stay. I have a 42’ fifth wheel camper and I can back it into the spots here with room to spare. They built this campground the right way.
