Additionally, there is a pavilion picnic area, providing a covered space for meals and gatherings. The Birchwood area itself is noted to be well-liked by visitors. While one review mentions that the campground can get "way too busy" due to public accessibility, the overall environment seems to offer a traditional lakeside camping experience. For those searching "camping near me" who prioritize lake access, a beach, and a generally attractive setting, Doolittle Park is worth considering.

- Playground and Beach Great for Kids: One reviewer specifically highlights these amenities as being well-suited for children.
- Public Accessibility: The campground is accessible to the public, which, according to one review, can lead to it becoming "way too busy."

However, potential drawbacks mentioned by reviewers that could also be considered features (or negative features) include:
- Close Campsite Spacing: This lack of space between sites can impact privacy and noise levels.
- Public Access: While allowing more people to enjoy the amenities, it can lead to overcrowding.
- Speed Limit Issues: The reported disregard for the 5mph speed limit could be a safety concern.
- Busy Atmosphere: The combination of public access and family-friendly amenities can result in a lively, and sometimes noisy, environment.
Local users searching "camping near me" should weigh these features based on their personal preferences for a camping experience.

Doolittle Park Reviews
We usually really like this campground. The playground and beach are great for the kids. The spots are really close together though. Like so close that you have to hope you don't have neighbors that want absolute silence by 10pm. Not being able to sit around a fire and talk and laugh is ridiculous. Not a fan that it is accessible to the public, it gets way too busy. And many people do not drive the 5mph speed limit either. And there are usually kids everywhere. Love the Birchwood area. But thinking we may look for a place with more space between camp spots and one that doesn't have public access.
May 29, 2022 · Sasha ProvencialNice little campground, I forgot what lake it's on...it has 35 sites, a few campers were there, two tents including mine. It has a beach with a raft a very nice pavilion picnic area. A little playground, basketball hoop showers and bathrooms. If you like secluded areas check this out☺️
