Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground Introduce
For local users in Michigan seeking a "camping near me" experience that emphasizes natural beauty and a welcoming community atmosphere, Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground, located on Fletcher Park Rd in Mesick, presents an appealing option. This campground, while described as rustic, appears to offer well-maintained sites and a supportive environment, particularly highlighted by the exceptional camp host. If you're looking for a place to pitch a tent and immerse yourself in the outdoors with a friendly touch, Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground warrants consideration.
When exploring "camping near me," the quality of the environment and the services provided are often key factors. Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground is lauded for its "amazing" scenery, suggesting a location blessed with natural beauty that campers can appreciate. The campground itself is also described as "clean and well maintained," indicating that while it might be rustic in its amenities, the upkeep of the camping areas is a priority. This balance of natural charm and care for the grounds can contribute significantly to a positive "camping near me" experience.
A recurring and prominent theme in the positive feedback for Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground is the exceptional service provided by the camp host, Brian. One reviewer specifically mentioned returning for a second time solely because of Brian's positive impact on their previous visit, describing him as "so awesome," "great with our kids," "very welcoming," and "accommodating." The host's ability to create a welcoming and helpful atmosphere seems to be a major draw for families and other campers, elevating the overall "camping near me" experience from just a place to stay to a memorable and enjoyable community.
The sense of community at Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground is further emphasized by the reviewer who mentioned their family making "fast friends" with both the host and seasonal residents. This suggests a friendly and inclusive environment where campers can connect with others, enhancing the social aspect of their "camping near me" getaway. The anecdote about residents Rick and Justin quickly assisting the reviewer's son during a kayaking incident underscores the supportive and caring nature of the people at the campground.
In terms of basic amenities for a rustic campground, Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground appears to cover the essentials. Each campsite is described as flat and maintained, and includes a picnic table and a fire ring, providing the fundamental infrastructure for a comfortable and traditional camping experience. Acceptable vault toilets are available, which is typical for rustic campgrounds and provides necessary sanitation facilities.
For added convenience, the campground offers potable water, allowing campers to easily access drinking water. Firewood and ice are also available for purchase, saving campers the hassle of bringing their own and supporting the campground. Additionally, the presence of a fish cleaning station suggests that Fletcher Creek or nearby waters are suitable for fishing, catering to anglers seeking a "camping near me" location with fishing opportunities.
The operational aspect of Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground is that sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that reservations are not taken, and campers must arrive and select an available site. While this can be convenient for spontaneous trips, it also carries the risk of the campground being full upon arrival, especially during peak seasons. Local users considering this option for "camping near me" should factor in potential arrival times and popularity.
The campground is reportedly "managed" by Northern Exposure Campground, which is located up the road. This might be relevant for inquiries or if additional services or amenities are needed that are not available directly at Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground. It suggests a level of oversight and management, even though the site itself is described as rustic.
However, it is crucial to present a balanced view, and a subsequent edit by one of the reviewers introduces significant concerns. This reviewer returned to the campground just two weeks later and reported that the trash had not been emptied since their previous visit. Furthermore, they experienced an issue with neighbors at their new site dumping dog feces downhill, resulting in an unpleasant smell. These negative experiences led the reviewer to determine that they would likely not return, citing the availability of other campgrounds in the area that might not have these issues. This feedback highlights potential inconsistencies in maintenance and issues with fellow campers' behavior that could detract from the "camping near me" experience.
For local users considering Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground, the positive aspects of a helpful host, beautiful scenery, well-maintained sites, and a friendly community must be weighed against the potential drawbacks of inconsistent trash management and inconsiderate behavior from some campers. The first-come, first-served system also requires flexibility in travel plans.
Prospective campers might want to seek more recent reviews or information to ascertain if the maintenance and neighbor issues have been addressed. Contacting Northern Exposure Campground, the managing entity, could provide insights into current conditions and policies. Given the strong positive initial review followed by a negative follow-up, the overall experience at Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground might vary depending on the timing of the visit and the specific neighbors encountered.
In conclusion, Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground near Mesick, MI, offers a "camping near me" option with appealing features such as scenic beauty, maintained sites, and a highly praised camp host who fosters a welcoming community. It provides essential rustic camping amenities and is conveniently located for those interested in a natural getaway with potential fishing opportunities. However, the first-come, first-served policy and recent reports of unmanaged trash and inconsiderate campers are important considerations. Local users should weigh these factors and potentially seek more up-to-date information before choosing Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground for their next outdoor adventure.

Fletcher Creek Rustic Campground Reviews
This was our second time there. We returned because last year, the camp host, Brian, really helped our experience. This year was even better; Brian was so awesome. He is so great with our kids, very welcoming and accommodating. The park looked way better than I remembered, and we stayed longer than planned. My family made fast friends with both the host and seasonal residents of the campground. We were sad to leave. One of the residents, Rick and Justin, even rushed out to help my son (faster than I was) when he flipped his kayak. This is, by far, the best place to camp because the scenery is amazing, campground is clean and well maintained, and the people just top off the experience like a star on a Christmas tree. As long as Brian is the host, we will keep going back. I highly recommend this place. Perfect in my eyes.
Aug 24, 2018 · Erin JohnsonCampground is "managed" by Northern Exposure Campground up the road. Great spot for tent/rustic camping. Sites are flat and maintained. Picnic table and fire ring included at each site. Acceptable vault toilets available. Ice, fire wood, potable water, and fish cleaning station available. First come, first served for sites. Great place to stay if you plan to be away from the campsite all day. Will be returning.Edit: returned two weeks later and trash had not been emptied since we were there. Neighbors at new site dumped dog feces below the hill resulting in smell emanating down wind. Determined I likely will not return again. Too many campgrounds in the area that may not have these issues.
Aug 19, 2020 · Peter SchneiderThis is a great rustic campground. Huge sites and docks for your boat directly below your sites. Big lake and really nice at the far end. There are several stumps that you have to watch for on this side. Was not a big deal just have to be cautious. Reason for 3 star is because the camp host had drove around 3 times while we were there with there 2 dogs running free. I have a dog that I camp with that is not dog friendly so I’m sure to read every rule before I bring him to be sure that all dogs MUST be leashed at all times. That was not the case. My dog is always on a leash or a tie out at my camp site and worrying about random dogs roaming the campground isn’t what I had intended especially the camp hosts… also there is a pretty large bee problem. Not just at the sites but the entire campground. Other then those issues it was great weekend and we enjoyed the sites.
Aug 22, 2021 · Tegan RymanWe love camping here because it usually is not crowded. The only reason for the 3 stars is the horrible bathrooms. They are disgusting all the time and are in desperate need of updating. Vault toilet venting technology has come a long way and these, while in a permanent cement structure, are constantly foul smelling and FULL of bugs. Nothing like getting swarmed by mosquitos when sitting on the can...
Aug 14, 2023 · Jody ImminkGreat place to camp. The camp host Brian is great . He's great with kids. He will help with anything you need. The one down fall is this one guy that thinks he's the sheriff in town. They need to get him out of the camp ground. The people that live at the camp ground for the season are great. My youngest son kyak flipped over and took on water in the middle of the river and Rick and Justin jumped into action and got to him and brought him back to shore. Great place will back again if Brian continues to be the camp host.
