This was one of the best campgrounds we have ever been to, and one of the best cared for. If you are a first timer, you won't find a more welcoming place. The regulars here are amazing, and will get you settled on the rules, and comfortable. The owner and his wife are absolutely top notch, can't thank them enough for the amazing way they run this place. - Ethan Goodsell

Spruce Hollow Campground Introduce

For local individuals and couples seeking a unique and welcoming "camping near me" experience, Spruce Hollow Campground near Mesick, Michigan, offers a distinctive opportunity. This meticulously maintained clothing-optional campground caters to naturists looking for a comfortable and accepting environment to connect with nature in its most natural form. Spruce Hollow Campground prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere, its beautifully kept grounds, and the strong sense of community among its visitors.

Located at 8700 W 6 1/2 Rd, Mesick, MI 49668, USA, Spruce Hollow Campground provides a secluded and tranquil setting amidst the natural beauty of Michigan. While the specific environment is not extensively detailed, customer reviews consistently praise the care and attention the owners have given to the land. The campsites are described as well-shaded, nicely kept, and cozy, nestled in the woods along a winding path. This suggests a private and intimate camping experience, allowing guests to feel connected to the surrounding nature.

One of the standout features of Spruce Hollow Campground, as highlighted by multiple reviewers, is the exceptional care and maintenance of the grounds. The owners, Pat and his wife, are frequently commended for their dedication to creating a welcoming and well-run environment. First-time visitors can expect a particularly supportive introduction to the campground and its community, with regular guests often assisting newcomers in understanding the guidelines and feeling comfortable. The owners' passion for the land and their vision for this naturist oasis are evident in the thoughtful design and upkeep of the property.

While the core principle of Spruce Hollow Campground is its clothing-optional policy, it's important to understand the values and community spirit that underpin this. Reviews emphasize that the campground fosters a safe and comfortable environment where individuals can embrace naturism. The social aspect is also significant, with a strong sense of community among the campers. While visiting during the week might offer a quieter experience with fewer people, weekends and the end of the week tend to have higher traffic, providing more opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals who share the values of naturism and body positivity.

The campsites themselves are designed for tent camping. A notable feature is that after setting up camp (often in the nude, as joyfully mentioned by a reviewer), guests are asked to park their vehicles in a designated lot. This separation of parking from the individual campsites enhances the natural and pedestrian-friendly feel of the camping areas. While traditional fire pits are not available at each campsite, this is a deliberate choice by the owners, primarily for safety and environmental reasons. Campers are welcome to cook at their sites using small gas grills, which many find to be a convenient alternative.

Spruce Hollow Campground fosters a strong sense of community through its shared facilities. A large gas grill is available for communal cooking, and a beautiful community fire pit with a drop-down movie screen serves as a central gathering place for socializing in the evenings. This setup encourages interaction among guests and reinforces the communal atmosphere of the campground. The focus is on being nude, social, and comfortable within a safe and accepting environment.

The campground boasts a meticulously maintained pool and pool area, described as ridiculously serene. The water is clean, and comfortable lounge chairs and tables surround the pool, all nestled amidst tall trees, creating a beautiful and tranquil setting for relaxation. Another unique feature is the availability of outdoor showers, which one reviewer found to be an amazing and liberating experience.

Beyond the main amenities, Spruce Hollow Campground is rich in thoughtful details that contribute to its unique charm and welcoming atmosphere. These include wood carvings, cedar buildings, a DJ booth for potential events, an office with a river flowing through it, thousands of thoughtfully placed stones, lighted paths for easy navigation at night, abundant raspberry bushes, clean facilities, creatively decorated "Jägermeister bottle trees," well-kept American flags, vibrant flower pots, mulched trails, and game yards for recreation. These details collectively create an oasis that reflects the owners' care and vision.

While the campground itself receives high praise, one reviewer noted that the local grocery store a few miles away is subpar, particularly for those seeking organic produce and meats. It is recommended that campers plan accordingly and potentially bring any specialized food items with them.

For promotional purposes, Spruce Hollow Campground emphasizes its unique naturist environment, its meticulously maintained facilities, and the welcoming community spirit fostered by the owners and regular guests.
