Fort Flagler Upper Campground

10541 Flagler Rd, Nordland, WA 98358, USA

4.0
The upper campground is much more forested and cozy than the lower. The sites are different within the campground so choose carefully if you can. There was a large central bathroom with many stalls but only 1 shower (for each gender) so you had to keep coming back to see if the shower was empty. There is a button to push to allow the shower to run for 3 minutes but it’s free and no coins needed. The water got nice and hot, could be spotty if the men’s shower was also used or if someone flushed.Beautiful location with walking and biking trails. - Lisa R

The Environment: Forested Coziness and Scenic Beauty

One of the key environmental aspects highlighted in the reviews is the contrast between the upper and lower campgrounds at Fort Flagler. According to a visitor, "The upper campground is much more forested and cozy than the lower." This suggests that if you appreciate camping in a wooded setting with more shade and a sense of enclosure, the upper campground might be your preference. Another camper mentioned the "Beautiful location with walking and biking trails," indicating that the area surrounding the campground is conducive to outdoor activities beyond just camping. The proximity to water is also a significant environmental factor, as one review stated, "...the campground is so close to the water..." While this comment was made in the context of the overall Fort Flagler experience, it suggests that even from the upper campground, campers might have relatively easy access to the waterfront and its associated scenic views and recreational opportunities.
