Friendship Campground Introduce
Nestled in the scenic Left Hand Blacksmith Fork Canyon near Hyrum, Utah, Friendship Campground offers an opportunity for those seeking "camping near me" to immerse themselves in nature. Located at the address Left Hand Blacksmith Fork Canyon Rd, Hyrum, UT 84319, this campground has garnered both positive feedback regarding its environment and facilities, alongside some considerations regarding access and wildlife. Based on the available customer reviews, Friendship Campground presents a rustic camping experience with notable features and potential challenges that prospective visitors should be aware of.
One of the recurring positive aspects highlighted by visitors is the overall quality of the campground itself. It is described as "really nice," suggesting that the natural setting and the layout of the campsites are appealing. For families or groups camping together, Friendship Campground appears to offer suitable arrangements. One review mentioned a group that had three campsites, noting that campsite number 4 had ample space around the fire pit, making it an ideal gathering spot for meals and socializing. This indicates that some sites are designed to accommodate group activities and provide a communal area for campers to enjoy.
The proximity to water is another significant advantage mentioned by a camper. Campsite number 6 was specifically noted for being located by the water, providing an opportunity for children to play in a slower section of the water body. This feature could be particularly attractive to families with young children who enjoy water-based activities. The presence of water access also enhances the natural ambiance of the campground, offering scenic views and the soothing sounds of flowing water.
In terms of facilities, Friendship Campground offers vault toilets, which, according to one reviewer, were "well looked after." While vault toilets are a more rustic option compared to flush toilets, the fact that they are maintained suggests a commitment to basic hygiene and comfort for the campers. The availability of a relatively clean bathroom is also mentioned in another review, further indicating that while the facilities might be basic, efforts are made to keep them in reasonable condition.
The campsites themselves are described as "shady and large," which are highly desirable features for many campers. Shady campsites provide relief from the sun, especially during the hot summer months, making the camping experience more comfortable. Large campsites offer more space for tents, gear, and maneuvering, contributing to a more relaxed and less cramped environment. These features suggest that Friendship Campground is designed to offer a degree of comfort and space within a natural setting.
However, alongside these positive aspects, there are also some important considerations for potential visitors. One significant point of concern is the access road to the campground. A reviewer described it as "a long dirt, rocky, very rough road." This suggests that reaching Friendship Campground might be challenging, particularly for vehicles with low clearance or those not designed for rough terrain. Campers should be prepared for a potentially bumpy and lengthy drive on an unpaved road, which could impact their travel time and the condition of their vehicles. It would be advisable to inquire about the current road conditions before planning a trip, especially after periods of heavy rain or snowmelt.
Another critical aspect highlighted in the reviews is the presence of wildlife, specifically bears. One camper recounted an experience where a bear wandered into their campsite while they were sleeping, despite them being "bear aware." This incident serves as a stark reminder that Friendship Campground is located in an area where bears are present, and therefore, strict adherence to bear safety guidelines is essential. The reviewer emphasized the importance of triple-checking that all trash and smelly items are securely stored in the cabin of a vehicle before going to sleep. The fact that the bear left a paw print on a disposable tablecloth underscores the need for vigilance in managing food and waste to avoid attracting wildlife. While the reviewer humorously noted that they might not return due to this encounter, it is a serious consideration for anyone planning to camp in the area.
Finally, it is important to note that Friendship Campground is a "fee area," as mentioned by one of the reviewers. This means that there are charges associated with camping at this location. However, the specific fee structure, payment methods, and whether reservations are required are not detailed in the provided information. Prospective campers should contact the campground management directly using the provided phone numbers, (385) 273-1100 or +1 385-273-1100, to inquire about the current fees, reservation policies, and any other regulations they need to be aware of.
Promotional information is not available in the provided reviews. Campgrounds sometimes offer seasonal discounts, multi-night stay specials, or other promotions. To learn about any current offers at Friendship Campground, it is essential to contact them directly. They may also have information about group rates or any permits that might be required in addition to the camping fees.
In conclusion, Friendship Campground near Hyrum, UT, offers a potentially enjoyable camping experience with nice, shady, and large campsites, access to water, and relatively well-maintained basic facilities like vault toilets. However, prospective visitors should be prepared for a potentially challenging access road and must be keenly aware of the presence of bears, taking all necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of the wildlife. Additionally, it is crucial to contact the campground management to inquire about current fees, reservation procedures, and any specific guidelines for camping in this area. Despite the rustic nature and the wildlife considerations, Friendship Campground's natural beauty and spacious campsites may appeal to those seeking a more traditional and immersive camping experience.

Friendship Campground Reviews
Really nice campground but the road into it was a long dirt, rocky, very rough road. We enjoyed our stay though. We met family there and had three camp sites, number 4 had a lot of space around the fire pit for us to gather for meals, number 6 was by the water and the kids could play on the side where it was slower. Vault toilet, which was well looked after.
Jul 15, 2024 · Keshia BrownRelativity clean bathroom, the shady and large campsites were nice but a bear decided to wander into our campsite while we were trying to sleep and I’m not sure I will ever be back, lol! Yes we were bear aware, and yes it left its paw print on my disposable table cloth. Be sure to triple check you got all of your trash and smelly items up in the cabin of your car/truck before heading to sleep. This campsite is also a fee area so be aware of that.
Aug 28, 2024 · madilyn oakesonLovely place to camp with good friends to getaway from everyday stress. The camp ground is surrounded by all the beautiful trees and nature and the little creek that is right there in the campground.
Jul 18, 2024 · yvonne gutierrezMost of the camp spots haven't got any tables so take your own. It's a nice quiet place. No cell service, no bathrooms if you're tenting it, be prepared
Jun 30, 2024 · Frank SoWe had a nice shady campground and my daughter camped next to us and her spot was nice too. But it's a fee area, $12.00. NO water. They have an outhouse, but NO toilet paper. What are we paying for? And if you have a trailer longer than 19 ft, you won't be able to drive through, you'll have to deal with trees in your way.
