Gardner Hill Campground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Lowman, NY area, Gardner Hill Campground, located at 1451 Norway Rd, Lowman, NY 14861, presents itself as an option. You can reach them at (607) 732-9827 or +1 607-732-9827 for inquiries. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on available customer feedback, allowing local users to make informed decisions.
When considering "camping near me," the overall environment and the hospitality of the campground are often significant factors. One positive review of Gardner Hill Campground highlights the welcoming nature of the property owners, stating, "The people who own this property are very inviting and very friendly." This suggests a personal and hospitable atmosphere, which can greatly enhance the camping experience. The same reviewer also mentions a "nice beautiful place to stay at a moment's notice" and an "incredible" view, indicating that the campground may offer scenic surroundings that appeal to those seeking a visually pleasant outdoor setting. The recommendation for "any family or people who want to camp and have an adventure" further suggests that the campground aims to cater to a broad range of camping enthusiasts.
However, it is crucial to consider all available feedback to gain a balanced perspective. Two other reviews raise concerns regarding the ground conditions at the campground, particularly for RVs and trailers. One reviewer describes it as the "worst place to camp because there is no gravel underneath your trailer or around your area," expressing worry about dirt entering their camper. This individual explicitly states, "I would not consider this as a park," which is a strong negative assessment regarding the overall quality and infrastructure.
Another review echoes this sentiment, labeling it the "Worst place to park a camper or RV" and reiterating that "the place does not have gravel to park a trailer you are parking on grass / dirt." This reviewer perceives a lack of investment in the parking areas, suggesting that the absence of gravel might be due to the owners not having "the time or money that you pay them to park your rig/ trail to have a nice gravel park." This raises a potential issue for local users who own RVs or trailers and expect a more stable and cleaner parking surface.
Furthermore, the second negative review touches upon the campground's potential operation during the winter months. While the reviewer heard that they are "going stay open this winter," they express significant doubt about the feasibility for campers, questioning "how campers could come here with out get stuck in the winter or any condition of rain." This concern directly relates to the lack of gravel, implying that the grassy/dirt parking areas could become muddy and potentially impassable during wet or snowy conditions. This is a critical point for local users considering camping at Gardner Hill Campground during less favorable weather.
Based on the available information, the environment of Gardner Hill Campground appears to offer scenic views and a potentially pleasant natural setting, as highlighted by the positive review. However, the lack of gravel on the parking/camping areas, as pointed out by the negative reviews, could be a significant environmental factor affecting the camping experience, particularly in terms of cleanliness and accessibility for RVs and trailers. Local users should weigh the potential beauty of the location against the practical considerations of the ground conditions.
Information regarding specific services and features of Gardner Hill Campground is limited in the provided reviews. The positive review mentions it as a "nice beautiful place to stay," implying the basic provision of campsites. The negative reviews primarily focus on the lack of gravel for parking, not detailing other amenities typically found at campgrounds such as restrooms, water hookups, electrical hookups, fire pits, or picnic tables. Therefore, local users will need to contact the campground directly to inquire about the availability and quality of these essential services and features.
Similarly, there is no explicit promotional information available in the provided text. The positive review acts as a form of positive testimonial, highlighting the friendly owners and scenic views as reasons to visit. Conversely, the negative reviews serve as cautionary feedback regarding the ground conditions, potentially deterring RV and trailer owners. Local users seeking promotional offers or discounts would need to inquire directly with the campground management.
In summary, Gardner Hill Campground presents a mixed picture for local users searching for "camping near me":
- Positive Aspects: Friendly and inviting owners, potentially beautiful views, and a seemingly welcoming atmosphere for families and adventure seekers.
- Negative Aspects: Significant concerns raised about the lack of gravel on parking/camping areas, leading to potential issues with dirt, cleanliness, and accessibility, especially for RVs and trailers. Doubts about suitability during wet or winter conditions due to the ground surface.
- Missing Information: Details regarding specific amenities (restrooms, hookups, etc.), types of campsites available (tent, RV, etc.), and any promotional offers are not provided in the reviews.
Given the contrasting feedback, local users considering Gardner Hill Campground should carefully evaluate their camping needs and preferences. Tent campers might find the scenic views and friendly owners appealing, but they should still inquire about the ground conditions of their specific site. RV and trailer owners should be particularly cautious and strongly advised to contact the campground directly to get detailed information about the parking/camping surfaces and whether they are suitable for their vehicles, especially if planning to stay during or after periods of rain or potentially in winter.
To make an informed decision, local residents are encouraged to call Gardner Hill Campground at (607) 732-9827 or +1 607-732-9827 to ask specific questions about the campsites, ground conditions, available amenities, and any seasonal considerations. While the friendly owners and potential views are positive aspects, the concerns raised about the lack of gravel are significant and warrant direct inquiry before booking a stay. Weighing these factors will help local users determine if Gardner Hill Campground meets their expectations for a "camping near me" experience.

Aug 16, 2023 · Brenda LutzMay not be 5 star, but very nice place and owners. I would suggest not going up Jerusalem Hill way, very steep and curvy, especially with a camper.
Jul 28, 2022 · Diana AndersonWe booked a site at Gardner Hill campground for a 4 night stay over the July 4th weekend. Although the owner was incredibly nice and helpful, most of the amenities advertised were not available. The potential for an amazing campground is there, but the pool is non-functional, there is no fishing pond to be found, the rec center has no usability at all. There are also very derelect "seasonal" campers on site, that I believe people luce in year round. We ended up leaving a day early. They really need to let people know that the only amenities they are getting is a spot with full hookup, not everything else they advertise in their FB page and website.
