Ghost Hill Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Stone Mountain or greater Atlanta area? Do you need a long-term stay solution or a simple, no-frills camping experience close to urban conveniences and natural attractions? Ghost Hill Campground, located at 1295 Tuggle Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083, USA, might be a location to consider. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed and objective overview of the campground, drawing upon available information to help you make an informed decision.
Ghost Hill Campground can be reached by phone at (404) 580-0121 or via mobile at +1 404-580-0121. Its location offers a significant advantage for those seeking proximity to both the natural beauty of Stone Mountain Park and the amenities of the Atlanta metropolitan area. A key feature highlighted by a visitor is its convenient access to Stone Mountain Park and the Village, suggesting opportunities for outdoor recreation and exploring local attractions within walking distance.
In terms of services and facilities, one review indicates that Ghost Hill Campground provides the essentials for a clean and safe stay. Specifically mentioned is a bathroom and shower building. The reviewer also notes that the owners are diligent in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of these facilities. This suggests that while the campground might not offer extensive amenities, it prioritizes basic hygiene and order, which can be important for a comfortable camping experience.
However, it's crucial to consider the environment and atmosphere of the campground based on recent visitor experiences. One detailed review paints a contrasting picture to what might be expected from typical campground imagery. This visitor, who arranged a three-month stay, described the campground upon arrival as a "vast, densely crowded city of motor-homes packed like sardines." The infrastructure was characterized by crushed stone roads and numerous RV lots extending across the property. This description suggests a high density of campers and a less natural, more urbanized camping environment than some might anticipate.
The same review also highlights that the campground appears to primarily serve individuals seeking long-term, potentially low-income living arrangements, with a significant presence of gig and construction workers fulfilling temporary or extended job assignments. This is an important factor for potential visitors to be aware of, as it may influence the overall atmosphere and demographics of the campground.
Furthermore, the review details a negative experience regarding a requested reimbursement for early departure. The initial communication reportedly suggested a partial refund, which was later allegedly retracted. This account raises concerns about the accuracy of information provided and the consistency of management policies. While this is a single account, it underscores the importance of clear communication and understanding of terms and conditions before committing to a stay, especially for longer durations.
Considering the category "camping near me" and the services or goods one might seek in such a context, Ghost Hill Campground offers a functional base with essential amenities and a convenient location near Stone Mountain and Atlanta. For local users specifically searching for proximity to these areas, the campground's location remains a significant draw. The availability of long-term stays could also be beneficial for individuals needing temporary accommodation while working in the vicinity.
However, potential campers should be prepared for a potentially crowded environment with a focus on long-term residents rather than a traditional short-term recreational camping experience. The description of densely packed RVs and crushed stone infrastructure contrasts with the expectation of spacious, grassy, and serene campsites often associated with campground advertisements. It is advisable for prospective visitors to manage their expectations accordingly and perhaps seek additional, more recent reviews or even consider a brief visit to assess the current environment firsthand, if possible.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. However, the mention of a "long list of people waiting to get into the campground" in the review suggests that there may be demand for spaces, particularly for long-term stays. This could imply that availability might be limited at certain times. It would be prudent to contact Ghost Hill Campground directly via the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, specific site details, and any ongoing promotions or policies, especially regarding cancellations and refunds.
In conclusion, Ghost Hill Campground offers a conveniently located option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Stone Mountain area, particularly if proximity to the park and Atlanta is a priority. It provides essential facilities and appears to cater significantly to long-term residents. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported high density of campers and the less traditional camping environment. Direct communication with the campground management is recommended to obtain the most up-to-date information and to ensure it aligns with individual needs and expectations. While it might not be the tranquil, spacious retreat depicted in some generic campground imagery, it could serve as a practical and conveniently located base for specific needs, especially for those requiring longer stays near urban and natural attractions.

Ghost Hill Campground Reviews
This place has all the essentials for a clean safe stay. It has no frills other than a bathroom/shower building. The owners work hard to keep it clean and organized. It’s close to the metro area and is a short walk to Stone Mountain Park and the Village. It has mostly gig and construction workers living onsite while they fulfill their temp or extended job assignments.
Jan 30, 2025 · Joseph YoungWe arranged a 3 month stay at Ghost Hill Campground to begin in early April. The website misrepresents the campground by showing pictures of what appears to be retired couples enjoying a quiet evening on a spacious lot with grass and trees and serenity. Upon arrival we were shocked to find the campground a vast, densely crowded city of motor-homes packed like sardines in an infrastructure of crushed stone roads and RV lots as far as the eye can see. I talked to Susan a few days later and asked if we left early would we be able to receive a reimbursement. She said if we left by April 15th, she would reimburse us half of our payment, since they have a long list of people waiting to get into the campground. We jumped through hoops to find an alternate living arrangement and moved the RV out on April 12th. We talked to Susan that afternoon to let her know we were off the property and how she wanted to handle the reimbursement. Susan now changed her story and decided that they were not going to reimburse any funds. I pleaded with Susan that we would have not gone through so much trouble and additional expense if she had told us that from the beginning. Susan denied she ever offered anything. We could hear her husband berating her in the background. A truly sad place and sad situation. See actual photos below we took at the campground. This is a place for folks looking for a long-term low-income environment to live. All others beware.
May 23, 2022 · Northern MindBendBeen here 6 months for my wife's travel nurse assignment. The sites aren't very big but it's very quite and everyone is nice. We've never had a problem. The owners and staff are constantly working and making improvements. The stone mountain area has lots to do. If you're a traveling professional, I recommend it
Aug 14, 2022 · Casey OdomWe’ve now been here 5 months and have had an overall fantastic experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The grounds are always being improved upon. What this campground lacks in amenities, it makes up for in simplicity and quality. Anytime we’ve had questions, help was only a phone call away. If you’re looking for a long term place to park your camper or RV, this is the place to be.
Mar 23, 2024 · Brandon MannIt's the most difficult we have ever had getting into a park. And we travel full time for the last 4 years and move monthly. If you have a low rig DO NOT jump the curb to make the turn unless they have filled it. Go down by the cemetery and be careful rounding the corner next to the little tree. And that's just to get into the park. If ur parked on the upper area, be prepared to back ur rig up nearly a football field's worth. The sewage also doesn't drain right up there. The office is kind as long as you play by their rules. It was a decent stay once we actually got in there. But be prepared to have a parking fight with your partner because it's inevitable.
