Goodell Creek Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Marblemount, Washington, with convenient access to the wonders of North Cascades National Park? Goodell Creek Campground, located on State Rte 20, Marblemount, WA 98267, presents an appealing option for both tent and car campers. You can reach them at (360) 854-7200 or +1 360-854-7200 for inquiries, although as a National Park Service campground, reservations are typically handled through recreation.gov or the National Park Service directly.
Goodell Creek Campground is lauded by visitors for its tranquil atmosphere, particularly during the off-season. One reviewer shared an experience of being the only campers for days, enjoying a remarkably quiet and potentially free stay. It's important to note that "free" camping often applies during specific off-season periods and might be subject to change, so verifying this information with the National Park Service is crucial. The presence of regular patrols by Park Rangers and Seattle Light security adds a sense of safety and security for campers, even during less populated times.
The campground offers practical amenities that contribute to a comfortable camping experience. Reviewers mention the availability of "trash cans and water access available all through camp," which are essential for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene during your stay. The presence of "two large, clean, pit toilets in the center of camp" is also a significant benefit, especially for those who prefer more established facilities over primitive backcountry options.
The campsites themselves are described as "spacious with tables and campfire pits," providing ample room for setting up tents and gear, as well as designated areas for cooking and enjoying campfires (subject to any fire restrictions in place). This spaciousness enhances privacy and allows campers to spread out and enjoy their surroundings. The inclusion of tables adds convenience for meal preparation and other activities.
Goodell Creek Campground is also noted as "dog friendly," making it an excellent choice for campers who travel with their canine companions. Always ensure you adhere to the park's rules regarding pets, such as keeping them leashed and cleaning up after them, to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
For groups, the campground offers a "group picnic area near adjoining raft launch." This suggests that Goodell Creek Campground can accommodate larger gatherings and provides access to water-based recreational activities, likely on the Skagit River, which is nearby. The presence of a "parking lot near boat ramp" further supports access for those interested in boating or rafting in the area.
One reviewer observed that "People seemed to car camp in this area due to sites being full." This indicates the campground's popularity, especially during peak season, and suggests that many sites are suitable for parking vehicles directly at the campsite, enhancing convenience for loading and unloading gear.
However, one significant environmental factor mentioned in the reviews is the presence of mice. One reviewer strongly advises bringing "repellent pouches to put under your hood" due to "all the mice activity." While the reviewer acknowledges that this is "just nature at it's finest" and "isn't the parks fault," it is a crucial piece of information for prospective campers to be aware of and prepare for, especially regarding food storage and protecting their vehicles from potential rodent damage.
In summary, Goodell Creek Campground offers several appealing features for those seeking "camping near me" near North Cascades National Park:
- Quiet Off-Season: Enjoy a potentially serene and even free camping experience during less popular times of the year (verify with the National Park Service).
- Convenient Amenities: Trash cans and water access are available throughout the campground.

- Spacious Campsites: Sites are roomy and equipped with tables and campfire pits.
- Pet-Friendly: Dogs are welcome (subject to park rules).

- River Access: Proximity to the Skagit River offers opportunities for water-based recreation.
- Car Camping Friendly: Many sites appear suitable for parking vehicles.
- Security Presence: Regular patrols by Park Rangers and Seattle Light security enhance safety.
Prospective campers should also be aware of the potential for mice activity and take necessary precautions, such as using repellents and ensuring proper food storage to mitigate any issues.
To plan your camping trip to Goodell Creek Campground, it is essential to visit the official National Park Service website or recreation.gov to check availability, make reservations (which are highly recommended, especially during peak season), and obtain the most current information on fees, rules, and regulations. You can also call the North Cascades National Park information line at (360) 854-7200 for specific inquiries.

Goodell Creek Campground Reviews
We love this campground. So quiet during the off season, for days we were the only ones here and it's free. Park Rangers and Seattle Light security each drove through at least once a day. ***Down side is the mice! Be sure to bring repellent pouches to put under your hood*** We actually left early due to all the mice activity but that isn't the parks fault, just nature at it's finest. Will be back for sure just with repellent.

Jul 13, 2023 · jessica kreaisHolly cow, this is heaven on earth. The most prettiest campground I’ve been too. I love camping. There are no fancy facilities but the location is wonderful. They do have trash cans and outhouses. No showers. Also have potable water. There is a river right next to the campground with beautiful turquoise water coming from lake Diablo. Smells like nature heaven
Jun 15, 2023 · Diana SmithSmall campground with 19 sites. Lot of privacy. A river on the campground which is beautiful to relax at. A small covered picnic section with tables and grill on the river. We went there off season and it’s first come first serve during that time. We got lucky as one family was leaving and we arrived just then. I do not recommend bathing in the river as the current is strong. Water is cold as it’s fresh from the glaciers. Fire pit with grills. Toilets are not flush so it’s only good for one day camping. Flush toilets at the nearby(5 mins drive) visitor center but they’re closed in off season.
May 18, 2023 · Rahul KarodiaYear-round camping here with clean pit toilets available. No fee in the off-season. It's very close to the very nice town of newhalem and the scenic Diablo Canyon
