Services and Amenities at Newhalem Creek Campground
The customer reviews provide specific details about the services and amenities available at Newhalem Creek Campground:
- Flush Toilets and Running Water Restrooms: While there are "no showers on site," the restrooms are equipped with "flush/ running water," which is a significant convenience compared to vault toilets often found in more rustic campgrounds.
- Picnic Tables: Each campsite includes "a picnic table," providing a dedicated space for meals and other outdoor activities.
- Fire Slabs with Hinged Grills: Campsites are equipped with "a fire slab" for campfires. Additionally, there is "the grill that covers the fire slab" which is set on a hinge, allowing for easy access to the fire for cooking.
- Water and Potential Other Hookups (Implied for Some Sites): While not explicitly detailed for all sites, the mention of RV access to nearby lakes suggests that some sites might accommodate RVs, although the level of hookups (water, electric, sewer) is not specified in these reviews. Tent sites also benefit from the proximity to running water in the restrooms.
It is important to note the absence of showers on-site, which might be a consideration for some campers planning longer stays.

- Excellent Access to Recreational Activities: Its location provides easy access to hiking and biking trails in the North Cascades.
- Proximity to Key Attractions: Being within walking distance of a river, a visitor center, and waterfalls adds significant value and convenience for exploring the local area.
- Well-Maintained and Peaceful Setting: The clean and quiet atmosphere contributes to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
- Thoughtful Campsite Design: The level tent pads, picnic tables, and fire slabs with grills demonstrate attention to camper comfort.
The hinged grill on the fire slab is a notable feature for those who enjoy cooking over an open fire, although the potential for rust, as mentioned in one review, is something to be aware of.
Important Considerations and Potential Drawbacks
While the reviews are largely positive, there are a couple of considerations for potential visitors:
- No Showers On-Site: The lack of showers might be inconvenient for longer stays or for those who prefer to shower daily while camping. Campers might need to seek out alternative facilities outside the campground if this is a concern.
- Potential for Rusty Grills: One reviewer noted a rusted grill that came off its hinge. While they didn't consider it a major problem, it's a good reminder to inspect the grill at your site upon arrival and to handle it with care. Bringing a reliable way to lift the grill, such as oven mitts or BBQ gloves, is also recommended as a precaution against potential issues or hot surfaces.
Local users should weigh these points against the campground's many positive attributes.

Newhalem Creek Campground Reviews
There are no showers on site, but restrooms were all flush/ running water.Sites were nice, had a level place for your tent as well as a picnic table, and a fire slab. The grill that covers the fire slab is set on a hinge. The one in my site was rusted out and came off several times when picking it up or setting it back down. (It wasn't a big problem) Make sure you have some way of lifting the grill (like an oven mitt or silicone BBQ glove)
